I worked in the Information Center (IC). I barely learned anything about social work. Making phone calls and providing people resources for shelter is the ONLY thing I learned. I spent all of my time in the IC giving clients their mail, badges, unclogging toilets, toilet paper, baby products, hair care products, cleaning products, and over the counter meds which has nothing to do with social work. My field supervisor (Brandy) told me and my field liaison that I was going to learn about intakes in March, and then she turned around and said that I will be learning about intakes starting in June. My field supervisor terminated me in April and claimed that I was not upbeat, had poor social skills, and depressed. I regret discussing my depression and what I was going through at home to employees, and I had no idea that you could get terminated for that. But see, I never worked before, and so I am new to the workplace. I regret telling people who I don't know about my personal life, and oftentimes, I have a habit of ranting and getting things off of my chest, but I still believe that I shouldn't have gotten fired over that. It's whatever, I guess! My positive attitude and work ethic are what matters. I also noticed that I was the only social work intern who did not get a chance to learn about case management, and I believe it's due to the fact that I am Black. One of the directors (Misty) said that I looked depressing and intimidating. I should have reported her for saying that to me because her comment about me was very disrespectful and bigoted. Employees and interns in the IC should NOT be handling client's prescribed medications. Samaritan Inn needs to be reported! I was kind, respectful, and worked hard. I worked so hard there for no pay, and what did I get? Nothing, but a stupid thank you card in the mail. Ridiculous! Please DO NOT come to this place. You'll definitely regret it.

My wife and I, being new to the area, had to find daycare pretty quickly for our then 5-months old. Up until that point he was cared for by grandpa and we had very very high expectations from a daycare. We've decided to go with Cornerstone for several reasons. No complaints that we were able to find by looking at the TX state background check on the business. We have consulted with other parents and they all love the place. The caretakers have all been there for many years, are very dedicated, very warm and friendly and very good at strictly following parents' direction as well as care for the little ones. The price is competitive for the area. As for the entire facility, it is very clean, well taken care for and the staff is very friendly and eager to help. Our little one has been going here for months now and absolutely loves it. And we, as parents, are at ease knowing that he is in good hands. I highly recommend you give Cornerstone a try.

I only had the original pictures. For you ladies who have nowhere to go. Please do not go to Women In Need. Because they will NOT help you with nothing. The Director is lazy, rude, and she's the only one that trashes all of her clients personal belongings regardless even if you communicate about any difficult situation and circumstances you are having she will still throw all of your belongings without notifying you. As many times I have called and left messages she not once never ever called me. This is why I wanted to write this and make aware of anyone out there to reconsider about going to Women in need Shelter. I would hate knowing that this will happen to the next person. I will be contacting BBB about it. I pray that this doesn't happen to anyone in the future. And find a better caring shelter rather a shelter who doesn't care about your needs nor our traumas as a victim of domestic violence.

I pulled her out at one point only because I was working in Mesquite and the drive in traffic was killing me. After trying two awful day cares, and having horrific experiences, I moved my job to Rockwall so I could have her back at White Hills. I cannot say enough about how well they treat her and me. She is now almost three and I cannot imagine moving her anywhere else. She wakes up in the morning excited to go to school and she has learned so much. My son used to go to White Hills and I am now ready to share our experience in hopes that this doesn't happen to anyone else's children. I received a phone call from the office, I was informed that my son had a low-grade fever so I said I'll be right there to pick him up. At the end of the conversation she began to tell me that my son also was not using his arm and was expressing discomfort with his arm. I was originally just feeling confused because those two things are unrelated and I wasn't sure why they didn't lead in with the fact that my son couldn't use his arm. Upon arrival I was not greeted with an incident report instead I was taken back to a classroom full of other children where my son was sitting and they were trying to give him sweets so he would stop crying. When I ask them what happened she told me she thought it could have happened in his sleep. (Not likely) She also said it could have been when he was swinging on the cubbies and the teacher had to get him down (this was all new information to me). I wanted to seek a professionals advice before making wild assumptions but it didn't sit well with me that she called and told me he had a low-grade fever for basically no reason when really my son was injured at their school and nobody knew for sure what happened apparently. I took my son to children's Medical Center to find out that he had a fracture in his elbow, as well as it being dislocated. I was informed that it was not likely the story given was what actually happened to my baby given the amount of trauma on his arm. It was a very traumatic experience for him to have nurses putting his elbow back in place and the x-rays were scary it was a nightmare. Not to mention the financial position it put me in having to take him out of school and stay home with him for that time being. It caused a lot of stress for our family. I called White Hills the next day and requested an incident report and had laura email it to me. His name wasn't even spelt correctly on the report, just overall not an organized facility. I know their intentions were not pure because from the beginning she should've called me and directly told me my son had an incident at their facility and wasn't able to move his arm. I should have been greeted with an incident report and someone should've been able to tell me exactly what happened to my baby and at what time. I asked to see the footage and Laura (the lady in the office) told me that would be fine only to call me back to tell me the cameras aren't recording and that they can only be seen in real time. But it's weird because when I had an investigator come to check they were told that the cameras had been broken since the winter storm. So which is true that the cameras don't record or the cameras are broken? There was a few other signs about this facility that bothered me that I overlooked because I thought that he was comfortable there, When he was in the infants room I had multiple situations where the teacher made me uncomfortable and or would make snide comments about the clothes or shoes that I would bring him in. I brought him in little soft lumberjack boots one time for the class photo and as I was walking out I heard her talking to my son telling him come here boy let me fix your plastic shoes in a very sarcastic manner. I talked with the owner Bill about it and he told me nothing would ever happen like that again, I trusted them with my child safety and they neglected to handle the situation accordingly. I made a mistake in trusting them and my baby had to suffer because of it, I just hope other parents don't choose to do the same with this facility.

So I started to give them a call every week and see if there was any update. Finally the lady in the front desk told me that I can start on April 4th after she talked with the director. On April 4th, I went there and the director told me that she could not accept my kids because they called me and I never called back, I explain her what happened and she told me that she was felling bad, that I never called back and that I have lo leave the place. I still in shock about how rude this lady was. Even after I show her my phone record with more than 7 calls to her place, she keeps with the same argument, we called you ones any you did not respond. She never apologies, or tried to figure out what happened, or try to be helpful, and obviously she did not care about my kids. Very unprofessional and rude, maybe a little racist too.
