Bottom line…read moreis, among other centers in Bryn Mawr, this is probably a better one just because of large rooms and fairly small number of children in those rooms (as compared to Cambridge school in Baldwin where those kids are like sardines in a can). But that's about it. The teachers were not engaging, every time I dropped my kid off, sometimes as late as 9.15am, they were yapping with each other. Every time I came to pick up, again even as early as 4.30-5, the kids were playing on their own while the girls were chatting. When they actually did circle time, I'm not sure. Apparently there was a time because my child learned Apples and bananas song in one year! And in comparison to our new daycare, the kid has mastered sooooo much: songs, letters, numbers, games, space, anatomy - you name it. I believe the 3 year olds had a nice teacher, we would always peek in their room and get jealous of the kids that actually do something. And I think the infants teacher knows what she's doing, but 1 and 2 year olds - you'd be better of to keep looking, preferably outside of a Bryn Mawr if logistics allow. Unless they switched up the teachers and got some that actually care about kids.

I have been glad to have my child with this facility for the past three years…read more TL;DR: There is a clear love and care for every child at this site Staff are happy and attentive, NEW site director is joyful, responsive, and accommodating The site has worked hard to improve over the past three years for both programming and facility, going from good to great Full Review: We placed our daughter at this site on a moment's notice after a major surgery as an infant had been completed and our arranged daycare became untenable. Staff in the infant room were responsive to all of our concerns, worked with my wife and myself to ensure our daughter was taken care of in the most loving and caring way possible, and provided us with a full run down of the day at each pickup. It was very comforting and reassuring for first time parents. At this time, there was some staff discomfort that we did see with the management team that had been in place. As our daughter progressed through the age groups, we found that all staff had taken the time to learn our daughter's name and greet her by name in the halls on drop off and pickup. The site also experienced a management change which had a significant and noticeable impact on staff morale. The new and current director, Jodie Beth, is joyful, shares information readily, and works tirelessly to address both staff and parent concerns. She also added an assistant (director?), Cassie, who develops programming, serves as an additional source of information, and pushes into classes when needed. There is a bit of a newer issue for 2-3 year olds as there is not a larger format jungle gym for them to play on due to new regulations and issues with the municipality and property owner (something to do with wood chips), so this age group is relegated to a 1-2 year old play space and a black top with assorted toys. It is a bit difficult to swallow, but there are alot of changes happening, and perhaps they will be able to work this one out. Even with this issue though, the staff made the best of the situation and worked to keep the kids engage, and introduced additional programming both indoors and outdoors to close the gap left by the loss of the play equipment for this group. The facility has also worked with the property owner to address notable issues with flooding. Late last year, the entire foundation was excavated and new flood control measures were put into place (looked like sealing of foundation and a french drain). It was a massive project, but introduced minimal disruption to the day to day for the kids (loss of some parking temporarily and some play areas were closed for a couple of days). The facility's handling of COVID has also been stellar. The parent organization had one or two sites open throughout the beginning stages to service the needs of first responders and they developed strict and encompassing procedures to keep parents, staff, and kids as safe as possible. During the full lockdown, even though no tuition was being paid, staff would hold zoom sessions for the classes to encourage kids to interact with each other and staff as well as provide story time, show and tell and more. Since this site has reopened, they have been flexible with families on return dates and have worked to communicate what is going on at the facility with great effect. I am glad that we were able to find a facility and staff that meet and exceed the needs of our family. I am looking forward to my child returning when we are in need of childcare again.

Susan, the director, has been very responsive and accommodating, and our daughter's teachers are loving and involved. I have found the building and outside area to be clean (the playground area is awesome), and I will echo one of the other parents that the teachers in the other rooms go out of their way to engage with parents and children who are not even assigned to their rooms. There is a nice sense of community here. In particular, Miss Saamara in the Cuddlebug room is outstanding. She is incredibly warm and sweet. Our child had some issues with separation anxiety at first and Miss Saamara would take her and walk her around the room while holding her, showing her pictures and talking to her in a soothing voice as I left. I would often pause for a minute outside the room to make sure my child stopped crying, and Miss Saamara always had her calmed within a minute or two. Now that she has adjusted to her classmates and teachers, our child is always happy and barely notices when we arrive to pick her up - she would rather keep playing! One of the other things I really liked about this program is that most of the teachers have been here much longer than other programs: 5-15 years. That made me very comfortable that the director knows the teachers well and that they are in this career because they love what they do. The reason for the 4 out of 5 star rating is that we have had two minor issues here, but I feel that these has been handled well by the teachers/director and were positively resolved. (a few late arrivals by a teacher which caused me to be late to work and one incident where I picked up my daughter and she had developed a high fever but I was not called. The teachers had not noticed due to it being about 80 degrees out and the children were outside playing.) Overall, I felt these incidents were minor and I felt the teachers and director responded quickly and appropriately to my concerns. I think that as we get more time under our belt here (we have only been enrolled 6 months) and no further issues arise, I would be very comfortable amending this rating to a 5 star.

My daughter has grown and learned so much at her time "at school" and comes home saying new words and signing new signs and singing new songs almost every day. Most days she wants to keep playing when I come to pick her up. I've recommended this location to other friends looking for child care centers - we're happy with our decision to go with P&L in Bryn Mawr and look forward to our daughter continuing to grow and learn throughout her time there. There is a wait list so I'd suggest checking it out and getting on the list as soon as possible.

It is such a relief to be able to send your child to a daycare where they are excited to go and learn every day. My wife and I are both teachers (my wife even has an early childhood degree) so I feel like we were pickier than most when it came to selecting a daycare for our daughter just for the sheer fact that we know what is and is not good for young growing minds. Everything that is in place at Mi Casita is backed by research and satisfied all of our picky needs from a daycare center. If you don't know Mi Casita is a Spanish immersion School where teachers and staff only speak in Spanish unless it's a safety concern or something to that effect. Now we do not speak Spanish at home, from speaking with other parents a rough estimate is able 50% of families speak Spanish at home and 50% speak English or a different language in their homes. The school as a whole is a diverse learning community with students and staff from various backgrounds. I love that they specifically look for teachers from various parts of the Spanish speaking world as there are so many different dialects I feel like it is smart to expose these young learners to as many different accents and dialects as possible. The school is a project based learning environment, each month there is a newsletter that is sent out that goes over the unit that will be the topic of focus for the month. Teachers do a tremendous job of pulling together different resources that are age appropriate for students that tie back into the central theme for the month. We always enjoy seeing the updates on different projects the students learn about and create while at school. They have an outdoor play space with grass, garden area, sandbox, and asphalt track around the outside. They work hard to get the kids outside most days except when the weather doesn't permit. I'm of the belief that there is no bad weather only inappropriate clothing... But I'm sure not all parents agree with me when their kids are out in pouring rain haha so I understand why the students are not outside every day. However any day that students are not outside they get plenty of time in the gym for gross motor development. The gym is a large indoor play space with different shape mats, balls and obstacles for students to play on. They bring in outside professionals (who are awesome) to do afternoon enrichment like art, music and gardening. As a bee keeper myself I was so excited to hear that they have had an apiarist come in with a hive to speak with the older students about bees and bee keeping. My kiddo loves music day and I'm always sure to kill some time before picking her up so she doesn't miss any music time! In the times of COVID they have been very cautious (and rightly so) to keep all of the students and staff safe. They communicate through brightwheel (an application on your phone where you can see photos and short videos of your kid that the teachers post.) To keep everyone in the loop on contact tracing and communication on learning throughout the day. Payment is also done through brightwheel. I am a firm believer in you pay for what you get. I wouldn't get discount Lasik and I'm not sending my child to a discount daycare. It isn't cheap but well worth it. The teachers are top notch and deserve all of the praise in the world. The assistant in my daughter's room can do things with toddler hair that I didn't think was possible. Nearly everyday my daughter comes home with a new adorable hairdo but she won't sit still for us to even make an attempt. Haha. Our family has been very cautious with the ongoing pandemic due to health issues. We have followed…read morethe recommendations of the CDC and mandates set forth by the governor and his office because we are not medical professionals. When I spoke with the owner, Jodi, of the school, after the mask mandate was declared by the governor, I wanted to confirm that they would be in compliance with this order so that I could feel safe knowing that some medical precautions were being taken to keep my child (and our family) from contracting COVID. Jodi explicitly stated that some of the two year olds "are disgusted by" wearing masks and that wearing masks "upsets them" so the staff would "not force them to wear" masks. This was obviously concerning, especially since earlier in the summer, Jodi had told my wife that the school would not be enforcing mask wearing unless the governor mandated it, and now that it was mandated, Jodi would be going against the medical advice of those advising the governor and made it clear that even though the governor's mandate was now in place, the school would still not enforce it. I called and spoke with Jodi to request a refund of our deposit, due to the continuing concerns that we had, after Jodi made it clear that mask wearing would, in essence, be optional for those in the two year old room, despite the mandate. Jodi claimed that I was "twisting [her] words," that "the governor is crazy" if he thinks two year olds will keep masks on all day and repeatedly said that she knows from her personal experiences while raising three kids that two year olds will not keep masks on. As a father of toddlers who have navigated this pandemic with masks on, I feel very at odds with Jodi's assessment of children's capability to follow directions from adults and wear a mask. In the end, Jodi refused to return our deposit and explained that it would remain on file for six months in the event that we decided to send our child there in the future. Truthfully, after our experience with Jodi, we have very little interest in sending our children there, pandemic or not. Had we been given assurances and felt the least bit comfortable with Jodi's handling of this matter or her willingness to comply with state mandates, then we would certainly be interested in enrolling our children in the future. Under normal circumstances, I understand why the deposit would be non refundable within the 30 days notice; after Jodi made it clear that the school would not mandate masks unless the governor ordered it, we were resigned to the fact that we would likely forfeit our deposit and not send our child if it was not mandated. We were relieved when it was ordered but a bit distraught when Jodi expressed an unwillingness to comply with or encourage mask wearing in the two year old room. If Jodi had assured us that the school would be complying with the mask mandate and helping children to adjust to mask wearing instead of letting them go unmasked, then our child would be in the school at this very moment. Instead, we've found a better program that is serious about protecting the health of children.

My son transferred to Goddard from Kindercare, where he was learning virtually nothing (the 4-5yo teacher there didn't even read books daily), and he loved the new environment at Goddard and got a much better education. He had a marked change in attitude and happiness as well and started to bring home art projects regularly. Pros: * Classrooms are HUGE and clean, as everything is new * Owners are willing to invest in resources and toys in the classroom * The playground is large and sparkling clean. There's also an indoor gym for inclement weather. They exercise 2x a day which is good. * They use Tadpoles, so you get notes on the day and a photo each day. * Over the summer, there are water play days. * Strong focus on academics as well as art, with daily projects to bring home * They're open most days and take very few days off. * Teachers have strong discipline. * Snacks are provided in the afternoon. * There is open and honest communication. Whenever a bump or bruise occurs, they tell us about it, unlike at Kindercare where sometimes we got the we don't know what happened excuse * Kids don't want to go home at night, which is the best indicator they're doing a great job. Neutral Notes * They do enforce logistical rules at this daycare (aka. labeling everything, taking water bottles home nightly to wash), which some fellow parents have felt are burdensome, but we like it because it prevents spread of disease which happened a lot at our old Kindercare. * They offer pizza catered in for lunch once a week at $4, and since a lot of kids elect in, we do it too for ours, but some parents might not like that societal pressure component. Areas for Improvement (they're still a 5* school, but no one is perfect): * One teacher we had was resistant to filling out info in Tadpoles and need to be complained to in order to give any info. * Teacher turnover is moderate, which is to be expected at childcare centers, but hopefully will stabilize over time. * They gave us the impression milk would be offered to students daily, but it turns out to be sporadic from what our son has told us.
