Everyone at this school seems to know my child and care for him and I never thought I would be this comfortable dropping my child at a school. Thank you, Nauraushaun, for an amazing experience so far!!

He went from…read morebeing home with me 24/7 for over four years, to going to preschool five mornings per week... and had no problem adjusting due in large part to the nurturing, welcoming environment of the teachers and the school community. He went from having difficulty with his fine motor skills, to writing/cutting/gripping effectively due in large part to the attention of his caring, hard-working teachers who advocated for him. I could go on and on with specifics, but overall, my son's first experience with school (which, as an educator, I feel is one of the most important) was so incredibly positive that I'm certain that's why he continues to enjoy it and thrive to this day. As a parent, I welcomed the chance to participate and be involved in my son's educational experience, and I was welcomed by the teachers, the Board, and the parents of the school. I truly felt like part of the wonderful community that is fostered in the school. I made relationships with many of the members of the school community that remain intact to this day, which I attribute to the positive environment of NNS. I felt that the Board members as well as the teachers were professional, approachable, accessible, and extremely user-friendly. There's nothing more important to me than my children, and as far as their education is concerned, I want the very best: a nurturing environment where they learn, where they love to learn, where they are happy, where they are considered. I found all of that and more in my son's experience at Nauraushaun Nursery School. (I was previously filtered but I am a real person and this is a real review, so I am re-posting. Thank you.)

I was headed to go tour the Pomona location and I must say I was highly disappointed. As an early…read morechildhood educator i know that first impressions matter a lot. I arrived to the school which was a house on a residential street which is not a problem but I instantly got a bad feeling. The daycare was scary looking no color, no sign to indicate it was a school. No playground just a whole bunch of dirty toys thrown all over the place. There was no fencing which lets me know my child will not be safe there. I was absolutely displeased and I left. To top it off the person i spoke with to schedule this tour didn't even reach out. That just confirms to me that i made the right decision of leaving and not attending the tour. All the pictures being portrayed on their website is definitely not what I saw yesterday to me. That's called false advertisement. I'm an early childhood educator and to get that feeling that your child is probably going to not be safe just by looking at the outside of a School is scary. I expected more. I'm highly disappointed.

There are no words to express my gratitude and appreciation for the teachers and staff here but I'm…read morehoping I can share some insight that will help the next parent explore this for their own children! We wanted a space where our child could grow, explore and develop their own sense of curiosity and TMH exceeded all of that. With the evolution of technology assisting in all aspects of our lives now; a learning experience that is grounded on building blocks and a hands on approach was fundamental when we were looking for early education. Not all children learn the same and the teachers do a great job at tailoring their approach to each and focus on their curiosities. Every part of the curriculum is so thoughtful and intentional. Some of the smallest activities are teaching them a skill that eventually becomes something bigger.  It's amazing to witness and the parents get a chance to see this first hand during parent visit days. "I didn't know my child could do that" is a common sentiment I hear amongst the parent group.  Beyond the curriculum - Our child will be completing the kindergarten program after having spent 3 years in the school and she couldn't be more excited. Her early days were supported by the older friends in the class and now she gets a chance to do the same. They are now some of her closest friends and the parents too!  The level of confidence and independence they have developed along the way has been nothing short of amazing. Having witnessed many of the friends in the class grow into their own personalities throughout the years have been fun to see. It's no surprise that families often enroll their siblings to TMH even after the older ones have graduated!

The bus is air-conditioned with a loving and trained bus counselor. The counselor facilitates activities on the bus. Our son loves going to camp. He was skeptical before he went for the first day. He told the counselor, "I didn't want to come but I changed my mind." He was hooked when he arrived. The staff are thoroughly trained. This is the only camp (that I know of) that has a mandatory week-long training. The staff are compassionate, knowledgeable, patient and flexible. Nature Place Day Camp is intuitive and thoughtful to each camper, rather than prescribing a "one size fits all," schedule driven, rules based mentality. The campers are encouraged to be curious. Campers exude confidence through this curiosity. The camp has daily swimming in their beautiful "pond" (a tasteful pool that looks like a pond). My son is learning how to swim! In the past, we have invested our time and money in swim lessons ad nauseam with no results. He did not even want to go into the pool. Now that he is learning at nature place day camp, he has made more progress at camp than he has in years of lessons. The camp is teaching respect for nature and thoughtfulness. The camp values the environment and demonstrates an authentic love for the ecosystem to the campers. The camp also encourages mindfulness and thoughtfulness in silence and quiet meditative peace (instead of other camp's whistles and bells). The correspondence with the camp is wonderful. We can always reach someone at the camp whenever we need to talk about issues related to camp (e.g. different pick ups, meals etc). The camp sends out beautiful weekly updates which lays out what happened the prior week. The camp is a lovely place. My only regret is that I did not get to go here as a child. My husband and I are so fortunate to know that our son is getting a well-rounded, nurturing, safe and nourishing experience.
