Five stars for Dr. Lindback and Dr. Mortimer! Dr. Lindback has been my kids pediatrician and is very thorough and answers all my questions. When my kids are sick and Dr. Lindback isn't available, we've seen Dr. Mortimer and she is great too. They both are so kind, don't seem to rush the appointment, and can diagnose them. The doctors can run very late though which is beyond frustrating, especially when it's consistent and nearly an hour. One star for the owners of this office though who prioritize profit over time spent with patients. The appointments are scheduled 10 minutes apart which is why the doctors are always late. The doctors are trying to be thorough and answer all questions, and unfortunately, this is why appointments run over and all the doctors are late. If the appointments were spread out more, this recurrent issue wouldn't happen read more

All the Doctors here are aweful. I don't know how many times they have misdiagnosed my kids. I think all they are good for is shooting them with vaccines on a regular basis. These Doctors definitely could use more training, I wish I could file a bigger charge! read more

I love my kids doctor and all the staff is friendly but the times I've been here I have not been able to get in and out as expected. I always wait 45 minutes after my appointment time. My son's appointment was at 10:30 I checked in at 10:15 and is now 10:55 and still not even called in. This has happened a few times. My child had a routine checkup at the end of January. It was pouring rain this day, so I had my partner check in for me while I found a parking spot. I finally find one, and made my way up to the medical office. I get into the waiting area and my child and partner and nowhere in sight. I ask the staff if she's seen a man check in with my child and she smiles and points in the room on the other side. I gasp, look at the lady in disbelief and ask my partner why is he over there? He looks at me with a confused face... I explained that was the "sick" room and he shouldn't be in there. I wasn't thrilled that the short haired woman didn't even mention it to him. *this visit that should have only taken 30-45 minutes, max, took almost 2 hours. All CPCMG locations are notorious for lagging. If you need to be somewhere, I HIGHLY recommend that you : 1. Take the entire day off; or 2. Are a stay at home parent/caregiver and have all the time in the world. CPCMG does NOT give a fiddle stick about your day or what you have to accomplish. Back to rant about the waiting room issue.... Not even a full 2 days go by and my child's nose won't stop running. Never an issue before. I figured it was some kind of allergies, no big deal, so I gave some children's liquid allergy medication. Well, I spoke too soon. Same day, nose is running like a waterfall, sneezing like crazy and it's GREEN. Another 2 days go by and now my child is BURNING up! My child is hot to the touch, but complains of being cold, to the point of crying and shivering. I feel completely helpless!!! Day 7 arrives and both my partner and I have the worst body aches ever. Didn't think much of it. Figured a change in weather was upon us, and my body was telling me more rain was on the way? NOT the case!!! Day 8 - EVERYONE in my household is sick as a dog. Cough, sinus headache, body aches, chills, extreme fatigue, you name it. All we can do is sleep. Day 9 - same as day 8 Day 10 - same as day 8-9 Day 11 - same as days 8-10 It's now day 11....ELEVEN!!! And everyone is still miserable!!! My child attempted to finally eat something light and guess what? Can't keep it down! My child has been puking all night long and it's 11:28pm If I could give 0 stars, I would in a heartbeat- without any hesitation!!! The care and quality of CPCMG is nonexistent. read more

Had an appointment with Dr. Mortimer at 2 PM. They checked us in and we went right back however we sat in the exam room for over two hours! My son had a 102 fever and they left us there with no explanation. he was freezing and got worse by the hour. They were incredibly rude and not helpful at all. We will never go back. read more

Dr. Lindback was the pediatrician who visited my newborn daughter in the hospital and we knew right away that we wanted her as our pediatrician! She is very knowledgeable and has excellent bedside manner. My daughter was never scared of her and always had a positive experience with her. Dr. Lindback never pushed us to do things we were not comfortable with, she always provided education and resources to help us come to the decision that we as parents felt was best. I would highly recommend her to new parents. read more

Quick summary of this office/doctors: The doctors here are pretty good, they are informative, and thorough with all appointments made whether it be for a sick or well child appointment. However the wait times are ridiculous, it really puts a negative taste in my mouth for the office. Any appointment made I have waited at least 35+ minutes after check in time to be seen. It also seems they don't have an order for who will be seen first by appointment time as I have arrived prior to many other families, yet they were seen before I was, which is also very frustrating. After you are placed in an exam room you will also wait quite a while to be seen. So any time you want to make an appointment make sure you have at least 3 hours cleared for a simple check up. One of the worst pediatricians office for people with special needs. General care is great for colds and coughs and wellness visits but the understanding of behavioral care is seriously missing. I have bee taking my kids to Children's primary care for about 8 years. For the last 6 years we have been seeing Dr Bowers. I always make sure that we ask for her when scheduling appointments. She is honestly the best doctor we've ever had. She deserves more than 5 stars. Dr.Bowers has gone above and beyond for my childrens care. Not only for their physical health... but also for school related issues. She has spoke up for my oldest, and wrote a letter directly to his school (I didn't ask her too, she just stepped in and stood up for him). I was having issues with a teacher stating that my child had attention issues. We saw his doctor as well as a psychologist, he had many test done and all came back normal. The school itself conducted an iep test on him for 2 weeks they would pull him out of class for these test, they also came back normal. Long story short Dr. Bowers put a stop to that. To this day, 3 years later I have not had an issue with the school and my son is doing great in school... he did not have attention issues. She also has helped me understand and know how to treat my youngest (asthma). Any time I have any question I private message her on my chart and she has always responded the same day. If you are looking for a dedicated doctor, whom is knowledgeable and very patient... she is definitely the one. The office, sometimes the wait can be a little long... but it is worth it. The entire staff is always very friendly, that is important when working with children. read more

I'm so grateful that my son is under the care of Dr. Mortimer. She is kind, playful, informative and a wonderful physician! MyChart gives me the opportunity to message her in between doctor visits and I appreciate that Dr. Mortimer responds in a timely manner. I work in healthcare and can attest that the long waits are not due to the staff. It's the patients and their parents. Because parents run late and/or ask a lot of questions it can cause the whole schedule to run behind. How many of us really come in at the check in time? I know I don't! I'm usually rushing in right at appt time. Earlier check in time gives the medical assistant/LVN time to take the patient's height/weight and vitals so you can have your full 20 min dedicated doctor time. Look, I'm not saying that you should not address your child's concerns, but know that if you forget to mention something, you can always use MyChart as a platform. Please be respectful of everyone's time. We're all exhausted and short tempered parents trying to get in and out of there. read more

Only issue was the earlier lack of help when we didn't have insurance yet (after moving here from overseas) and we waited too long (pre-COVID) for a scheduled appointment so I let the doc have it when we finally go in. I'm torn about cpcmg...our doctor is truly caring and responsive. I think it's genuine. BUT I just don't think they're very educated on so many things; like don't vaccinate the immunocompromised. Don't vaccinate sick kids. And don't prescribe acetaminophen for fever response because it can trigger really serious side effects, like autism and pandas and spd. All of those things happened to us and we're still digging our way out six years later. This practice, like most in network providers, pushes vaccines when it's simply not safe to do so. It's as if they haven't read a vaccine insert. I just want parents to be aware that in network providers will not carefully protect your children's unique health circumstances because it's too corporate. You'll find a whole different experience of independent, caring thoughtful medical care when you leave network providers. read more

We have been seeing Dr Herring and Dr Barr for several years now. They used to have a small office, just the two of them down the street from where they are now. Their staff was always nice and friendly, the receptionist recognized us when we walked through the door, and the wait times were decent most of the time. Fast forward to now, they have moved to a larger office, there are several Dr.'s in the office the front office staff seem miserable, they never smile and act as if they are doing you a favor just being there. I dread having to call and make an appointment, it usually takes 20 minutes to get anyone on the phone. The last time my littlest one was sick, I sat on hold for 15 minutes, ended up hanging up and headed down to the Minute Clinic where we were in and out of there with our script for antibiotics for the ear infection I knew my child had in about the same amount of time I sat on hold and never even got to talk to anyone, never mind try and get an appointment that day. Oh, and the Minute Clinic is cheaper too! Since they have combined offices I always have billing issues, and god help you if you need to call over to the billing office with questions or to get something straighted out. They give you the biggest run around, one time they billed me for shots that my son never got and wanted to argue with me about the charge on the bill. No joke, every single time my kids have to go to that office I can guarantee that I will be on the phone with billing within the next couple weeks when the bill comes, we do have insurance but for some reason they manage to screw up the coding or charge us for things that were never done. I'm over it, it's time for 5yo school shots and I'm off to find a new Dr to get it done! read more

Came in for a 9:10 am flu shot - it's now 9:50 am. Wait is always ridiculously long. If you're running late, notify patients upon arrival - better yet, allot more time for each appointment. Don't understand why flu shots on a Saturday morning require a 40 minute wait. Poor service and scheduling. This review is strictly about scheduling - not the MDs. I want to first say that the pediatrician I use for my children, Dr. Barr, is great however the staff and medical group need much improving. I have two toddler boys who don't have much of an attention span. There waiting room has no toys to entertain small children. Not that big of a deal except the waiting time is long. The office staff is cold and unwelcoming. There is a feeling of disconnect from your doctor because everything is set up much like an assembly line. Our two girls have been seeing mainly Dr. Herring ever since we moved to San Diego. I believe our 3 year old saw Dr. Bowers once. Both of them are great. Even though they are extremely busy, Dr. Herring and staff take the time to answer any questions we might have. The MA that we always have is amazing. She's patient with the girls, especially the rowdy 3 year old. I give the front desk staff a medal for not snapping at all of us crazy parents. I have worked in medical offices for over 15 years and I think that pediatrics has to be the most difficult. Think about it...they are always busy and they are often on the receiving end of upset parents' rants about their children. Nope, you couldn't pay me a million bucks to do what these girls are doing. On Thursday, the hubs took our 3 year old in for a follow up visit (seasonal allergies) and the office was swamped. It took a bit until they took them back to a room, but once in there, the MA brought the girls some coloring pages to occupy their time. It was a little gesture, but super sweet. We've done a walk-in appt. once, which I wasn't a huge fan of. I totally appreciate that they offer walk-ins, but there was some confusion about who got to go see the doctor first, which was a little irritating. That being said, they totally made up for it the other day. I had scheduled an appt, for my 3 year old through MyChart (LOVES), but they only had appointments for about 2 weeks out. I wasn't too worried about it, but asked if I could be put on a cancellation list to try and get in sooner. The day after I scheduled it, a woman from the office called and offered me an appt. the very next day! read more

Most of the office staff was pleasant, along with Lindback. However, she was not professional or thorough in the case of our daughter. She was too hasty and, quite frankly, insensitive to our family when she decided to make a very serious allegation against us without having any type of discussion or clarification as to the circumstances of the situation. Our child (a 2 month old) was forced to endure prolonged tests, x-rays, CT scans, and numerous needle pricks based on her unprofessional and incomplete analysis. We are now expecting a large hospital bill, administrative meetings, and perhaps months of continued frustration thanks to her prognosis. Legal teams have been mobilized and malpractice details are being evaluated. She should attempt to approach situations with a bit more empathy and be less dogmatic in the future. We won't be taking our child to this person any time soon. read more

I love this office. They don't have toys, but there is always a good kids' movie on. I don't mind, and none of the kids ever seem to either, even when it's fairly busy. It's clean and they have a side for sick kids and a side for well kids. It's bright and welcoming, which is nice, too. The ladies at the desk do their job well. They aren't bouncing and full of energy, but that's not their job. They smile, and are efficient in getting their work done, and that's all I ask. I don't need to be greeted like I'm entering Disneyland. :) The Dr's we have seen at this office, Bowers and Barr, have both been great to us. They are both wonderful. Something that Rady Hospital has instituted with their offices is what's called "MyChart". It's a really great feature, and it means you rarely, if ever, have to call them anymore, so no more long phone wait times. You can schedule, reschedule, or cancel an appointment online, as well as review your child's chart. It's free, too. I just made my son's well-check, and it walks you through the steps very quickly. I think it took all of maybe 3 minutes, tops. And as an added bonus, when the Dr is done checking everything out, my son, like most kids, is out of sorts from being poked around during the checkup, so I like to nurse him before getting outside and strapping him back in the car. They have always been very kind and told us to take our time, and not to rush, even when it's really busy. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. This practice is the worst. My daughter had an appointment at 11:40. I arrived promptly at 11:30 to fill out paperwork / insurance changes. We sat and waited 45 minutes. They called me up to tell me they still had 2 patients in front of us. I love how my time isn't valuable to a physicians group and I'm expected to wait hours to see a doctor when they can't call a patient to tell them the doctor has over booked and is running behind. After asking for a refund of our co-pay, I left with my daughter who needed to be seen and asked if the doctor would please take the time to give us a call since she couldn't see us during our scheduled time. We never got a call back. That tells me this doctor doesn't care about her patients, just the cash she gets from them. When we called the doctor back several times, the receptionist kept lying to us telling us the doctor left early and then lied again and said Dr Mortimer was seeing another patient. The receptionist was extremely sick and coughing all over the place when we were there. No care being taken to keep others from getting her cold. This is the most uncaring office we have ever been to since moving to this area. I won't be going back. read more

I love this place. Incredibly efficient staff, doctors, and overall good care. Appointments have been pretty timely, although like most pediatricians, they do run behind sometimes. For me, this has probably only happened 2 times out of the several visits we have made. They don't usually have same-day appointment availability at this location but the cool thing about Children's is there are several offices throughout the city and one of them can usually get your kid in if necessary! I always feel like my calls are returned punctually and never feel like an inconvenience when I have questions about my son's health. We love Dr. Herring and look forward to her being our children's doctor for many years to come. read more

My son has rash on his groin (under his underwear) for which a doctor here at this office has previously prescribed an ointment. I called to get a refill and they won't refill without seeing the rash. Mind you, this is an OINTMENT not an anti-psychotic. But with COVID, the only way to 'see" him is via a video appointment. So they're asking that I have my 13 year old pull down his pants on a video otherwise no refill. I'm shocked, repulsed and currently looking for a sensible doctor. read more

We've had some pretty bad experiences at CPCMG Gateway/Poway office that I really needed to share for any parents that want to take their kids there. Avoid it at all costs. Go to another office, or perhaps another practice altogether. Pros: - A few good doctors that seem genuine, take their time with your kids and have a lot of experience - Some nice nurses Cons: - TERRIBLE wait times. I was advised by our doctor to completely avoid the end of the day and before their lunch break. I've waited for 60-90 minutes with cranky children. Staff your office better because that is insane. - Our primary doctor misdiagnosed my son who ended up having a SUPER common problem, and instead of doing any critical diagnostics, she basically made an educated guess, and when we pushed back she dismissed it. We ended up getting a 2nd opinion and resolving the issue, from a dr. who was all about diagnostics. Lesson learned: if your pediatrician isn't doing diagnostics, something is wrong.... - I was told there are lab tests that they will just not do there because they don't have the lab onsite that is capable... that was a few years ago and maybe things have changed, but you also just have to go to another lab down the street and then go into the office, which makes things difficult if you have little kids. There are simple tests that they should be able to do there that they just couldn't do. - I recently had a child wake up on a Friday morning with a possible mild allergic reaction that morning. I couldn't bring him that day because my other son was very sick with a contagious fever and I had to keep him home. I left a message for our primary doc to see if she thinks its something we need to come in for. No response. I called to see if we can get our prescription filled for an Epi-pen (that we'd had previously) and no one got back to me. Ever. Not even on Monday. I also asked if they can help me figure out who in town can even stock it, it seems to be on back-order when I called our regular pharmacy, and the staff person I talked to told me I need to call around myself and find out. I REALLY doubt that they have zero idea about this, I'm sure tons of allergy kids go there. You'd think she could go the extra mile and ask around, but no, that would take too much effort. So not only did I ever get a prescription just in case my kid went into anaphylactic shock that weekend, but I also got no phone call back or help.... At all. So another push towards the emergency system, instead of dealing with what could have been an acute issue right away. I finally got the specialist getting back to me on Monday saying I need to schedule an appointment to see if they can review it. My regular doctor (and no one on their staff) never got back to me about this. - Their flu clinic was booked out at least a month and a half. A MONTH AND A HALF!? During prime flu season. The only way they told me that I could get a flu shot for my kids was to come in for a sick visit for both of them. So I did. Does that seem fishy to you or what? This is another way for them to make more money... why not just offer more clinics? Again, I was told to call around to other offices and see if they had openings, I called and the soonest one was a month away. Sigh... - I was told by one of their doctors that they only give combo vaccines (MMR/etc.) to the "free CA vaccine program" kids - and the private insurance folks get the separate vaccines... why? Because they can make more money this way. I was concerned because this means more preservatives in their vaccines. I am 100% pro-vax but was always told that the combo vaccines are the way to go. This doctor even agreed with me and said she hates the practice. WTF? - If your child has a rash, you're SOL and will have the "luxury" of waiting for your appointment in their hallway or the vending machine area outside of the hallway, for probably more than 30 minutes until they come to get you. I've had this experience twice, both when I was sure it was a food allergy rash. It doesn't really make sense to me - why not actually have a nurse triage the kid right away, determine whether they have something highly contagious like measles (we don't, we vaccinate) and then let them wait in the regular patient waiting area.... or better yet, have a THIRD waiting area for those kids. No, we have to sit on the gross floor in the hallway or by the snack machines. I've actually tried to bring a lot of this stuff up, left messages at their management HQ and their supposed "patient advocacy line" have gotten ZERO response from their corporate overlords. Zero. It's awful. Finally taking my kids and my insurance and $ elsewhere. It's too bad that some good doctors are at this clinic but we are just SO done. We should have left a long time ago, and one of the reasons we stayed in the Radys computer system is tied in w/ CPCMG and it's also so close to our house. Both terrible reasons.... read more

Love the doctors! They have been great. It's the whole customer service and trying to reach someone that's a pain in the butt. I've been on hold every time I call, for a minimum of 10 minutes and that's just calling in and pressing the numbers to get a live person. And when you show up, the girls act like they are doing nothing. Kind of frustrating. I've complained in person about this issue twice and it doesn't help. We were going to the Poway location, so I tried to call the Mira Mesa location to see if any better.....twice and on hold once for 5 minutes, then another for over 6 minutes.....Sorry Dr.'s Herring, Barr and the rest......staff makes a huge difference and answering the phones would be a good start. Doctors are nice, but the staffs are extremely rude. In the beginning, I selected Dr. Barr as the ped of my son before he was born. Then, they sent Dr. Sullivan to visit the hospital after my wife just delivered. They told me that every doctor in their office is the same. I felt that Dr. Sullivan is still good. After a few visits to the doctors, bills came, trouble started. The insurance company told me that Dr. Sullivan is not in the network of my insurance. I called the Dr. office and the insuance company many times trying to have this issue solved. The staff insisted that Dr. Sullivan is in network. Then, I requested the Dr. office to call the insurance company to check what happened. The staff said that they never call insurance company and asked me to let the insurance company to call them instead. But when the insurance company called them, no one answered the call!!! Then, I called the Dr. office again, and said that it looks like the only choice for me is to change doctor. The lady said that yes, you can do that. I was really angry and told the staff that she was rude. She replied "yes, I know." It really really SUCKS!!! Never try them. read more

I'm rating this clinic as three stars but rate our pediatrician Dr. Mortimer as FIVE stars. The clinic administration is poorly ran. They are either completely disorganized or double booking every appointment. The minimum wait time for my child to be seen by the MD is 30 minutes AFTER the scheduled appointment time. And we have waited even longer, one visit was close to an hour wait. As an administrator in a medical clinic it is beyond frustrating to witness these extensive wait times, especially when the patients are all children. We continue to come to this clinic because we adore Dr. Mortimer and the care she provides. It's unfortunate she doesn't have better support staff to improve the overall experience. I highly recommend Dr. Mortimer, but if long wait times make you cringe, find a pediatrician elsewhere. read more

While we have always had good experiences with their doctors, their billing and customer service departments are appalling. I was trying to pay a bill online and was having problems. I called customer service and the representative did not know how to use the computer system and then told me I was wrong about what was actually on my screen. When I asked to speak to a supervisor to suggest that the give their staff more training on the computer system the supervisor was very defensive, insisting that the customer service lady gave me the correct information (even though she didn't) and interrupted me numerous times as I tried to explain the situation. Call me crazy, but that is not what I consider good customer service. read more

I've only had my daughter here, sick, once before... Strep throat. She's 11. Other than that, she's never been sick. I took her to Urgent Care the other day for a horrible rash that was gone by the time they saw her. "Allergic reaction." But she's now got a swollen lymph node... Infection? I was going to wait til the end of my visit to post a review... But yeah... Not waiting! My daughter's appt was at 11:00. It's now 40 minutes later & I was told at 11:25, "you're next." I'm missing work, have a ton of errands to run, and I'm sitting in a room full of sick, snotty, coughing kids. We can't go on the "well child" side because my kid HAD a rash! My daughter has been going to this office for two years now. There is ALWAYS a wait time of over an hour. I try to make her appointments after 3:00 since I work full time. I'm told the wait time gets longer as the day goes on, but I have no choice, I have to work. My last appointment was at 3:30. The doctor finally saw us at 4:45 and we left the office a little after 5:00. This was just for a well child visit. No shots, just weight and measurements. read more

I have two daughters ages 5 and 12, and I always try to make our appointments with Dr Bower's. She is AMAZING! She connects with her patients so well, whatever the age. My 12 year old that hates shots and any visits with the doctor in general, loves Dr Bower's. She refuses to see anyone else, and even when it came to personal issues she felt very comfortable to discuss them with Dr Bowers. I cannot gush enough about this doctor enough. Sadly she only works two days a week so it's tricky to get an appointment with her. As for the office staff, they're okay, but a few need to learn how to smile a bit more. read more

EXTREMELY LONG WAITS !! Even worse if you have to call to make an appt - expect to be sitting on hold for at least 20 minutes, usually longer. Office waits are upwards of 45 minutes to 1 hour, which is ridiculous since they supposedly give you an appointment time!! Take your business elsewhere!! read more
