This tour took us through some of the markets, a long walk through Parque Forestal and stops along the way for Mote Con Huesillo (a very refreshing peach drink), empanadas, ice cream, and a platter of shrimp, ceviche and beef tartare. Plenty of booze to drink including an excellent beer and wine. Along the tour, led by the very entertaining Samy, we saw the sights and some of the places that make up Santiago's culture including the park, the Cerro Santa Lucia, a few neat neighborhoods and ending up near Bellas Artes. This tour didn't disappoint and I was overjoyed that they had two separate groups, one in English and one in Spanish. Our tour guide, Alonzo was amazing. He seemed very passionate about the history of his country while keeping the group engaged and entertained. He explained some of the cultural things we would see during our travels such as lots of public displays of affection especially in parks or the cafes with legs. I enjoyed the variety of neighborhoods and attractions we visited. The informative history and treatment of Chileans. He strongly recommended visiting the Museum of memory and human rights which I did and it was very eye opening. I loved that we took the subway and I was able to see how the underground transportation worked. I used the trains throughout my travels in Santiago which was very user-friendly. Our tour ended at a local bar where we had a small taste of local wine. Our guide hung around for a few minutes and answered questions. You always meet fellow travelers from all over the world including your home area. I always "tip" the suggested amount or more because their service is always worth that and more! My husband and I got off the plane at 9am, dropped our stuff off at the hotel, and began the tour at 12. The plan was to do anything and everything to stay awake until it was bed time in order to lessen the onset of jet lag. We were in for a real treat and were enthralled with the things we saw on the tour through Santiago. With stops at Santa Lucia Hill, the Bella Vista District, and Santiago's bustling city center, we didn't have time to think about being sleepy. The next day we had Ariel as our driver again (very happy about that) and our guide was now Estéban. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the many different goings on in this country, but was most passionate about nature, respecting the land and the people who made it so. Best part of the trip was standing atop a silent mountain and watching the incredible condors gliding in between the peaks. Mesmerizing. Loved both days we spent with Servitour guides Ariel, Borris, and Estéban. I'm looking forward to returning to Chile and having them take us on other adventures.

We found this place on trip advisor and we're a bit wary of it the $195/person was worth what we were getting. I was also nervous when I didn't get any confirmation from my deposit on PayPal. Our guide, Cristian, arrived at our hotel around 8am in a very nice bus and we proceeded to pick up the other guests at their hotels. On the way through the city, Cristian provided a "city tour" and tons of interesting information. This continued after we left Santiago and travelled through the countryside on the way to Casablanca valley. The wineries we went to were great (Loma Larga, Bodegas RE, and Morandé). We purchased wines at the first two! Note: LOma ships back home for free but Bodegas doesn't offer shipping) The lunch was four courses of delicious bread, poké, steak and risotto, and dessert with sparkling wine tasting! We left and we're back at our hotel by 5:30 in time to get ready for our evening plans! I would HIGHLY recommend this Uncorked tour, it is WELL worth it. Cristian is starting his own tour company on the coast in Valparaiso, "Coast of Poets" so he won't be touring any longer sadly.

I don't usually go for organized tours as I enjoy researching and curating my entire experience, but Pride Tours are intimate and completely customizable. The moment Freddy welcomed us at the airport there was an immediate feeling of comfort and fun. Instead of a completely scheduled itinerary, we opted for a few different tours sprinkled throughout our stay. Besides our pickup to take us to the charming boutique hotel in Bellavista called The Aubrey, our first day tour was the Cajón del Maipo. As any traveler knows, part of the fun of any excursion is the journey itself. After the scenic ride through the incredible landscape and a dip in the thermal springs (with a little flurry of snowflakes), he had arranged a lovely lunch at a roadside stop called La Magia Del Km71. This was actually a highlight of the day's venture as the warm welcome from the owner and her family was beautiful and the isolation of it quite stunning. This was followed by a quick stop for chocolate at the Hobbit-like fairy tale cottage La Casa Chocolate. A couple days later, being an architecture enthusiast, we'd arranged a tour to visit the Templo Bahá'í de Sudamérica with it's eco/modern temple overlooking Santiago. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at a popular local bakery, drove through some of the iconic neighborhoods, and then dined at an incredible Seafood restaurant, Pulmay at Borde Rio, where the owner came over to share drinks and stories. The evening wasn't quite over, so we stopped for drinks at El Toro Restorán with it's bevy of handsome waiters. When it was time to head West to the sea, we made the trip a day of wine tasting through Casablanca en route to Valparaiso. From an intimate tour at the artisanal Bodegas RE, to the luxe tasting and dining experience at Casas Del Bosque, the day was full of fun and laughter. Our two different accommodations in Valpo were amazing. First a modern AirBnB in the hills with it's own pool and expansive view, then the incredible Malbec Suite at the eccentric WineBox, our days there were relaxing and full of great food. On our last day, instead of simply heading to the airport, Freddy took us on a street art tour through the seaside town with funicular rides and gallery visits, a memorable way to bid farewell to Chile. I'm incredibly happy that we found Pride Tours, and not only do I encourage travelers to enlist their expertise, but the memories and friendship made became a central beauty of our trip.

We met Nikolas at the assigned spot and we waited about five minutes for two others who were booked but had not arrived. Oh, well. His English was excellent and completely understandable. Interesting spots on the tour and not just food. A good amount of cultural spots as it was neat to learn about Chile and Santiago's history. Lots of walking, too! A little but too much "talking" here and there, but that's just me. Food on the tour included empanadas, a pisco sour, coffee and a pastry, and a tasty meal at a restaurant that I'd already bookmarked to hit up during my time here. Oops. Well worth it.

Every first Tuesday of the month I head over to Bicicleta Verde with a group of friends to pick up…read morea bike and ride around and discover the city -- for free! Why the first Tuesday of every month? La Bicicleta Verde supports Critical Mass, the international bikers rights movement, giving both locals and tourists the opportunity to use their bicycles to join the city's cycling activists. This is by far one of the most fun (and free) activities you can do while in Santiago. After you pick up your bike (in exchange of an ID and phone number) you will go to Plaza Italia where you will meet up with hundreds of local cyclists (including baby ciclists as well as dogs! ) there will be a short speech from a representative of Furiosos Ciclistas to get you pumped up and explain the route (the route changes every month) and then you are off! Bikers join along the way, accumulating up to a couple thousand cyclists by the end. During the 1 hour journey throughout Santiago, you will sing, ring your bike bells loud, in unison, while running red lights and in general, disobeying common traffic laws. Thousands of singing cyclists not obeying traffic laws, you say? Don't worry, this outing is VERY safe and the group has a police escort at all times. Just remember to bring a bike light, ask for a helmet from the Bicicleta Verde crew and get ready for a fun night! To warm up, start practicing your Chilean "gritos" now. To get you started, here is one of the chants: "Somos caleta, andamos en bicicleta" Important: If you are feeling like you might be lost at anytime, look out for the green Bicicleta Verde bicycles (they stand out) and you know you are in good company. Also, make sure to stay in a group, as you don't want to speedily crossing a red light by yourself. As you finish, meet up with the Biciverde crew and head back to their office together.
