We took field trips there in elementary school, and they visited us monthly in their fancy bookmobile. I've even built the building from memory in Minecraft, with moderate success...if you ignore how horribly disproportionate it is. I'm incredibly attached to the place, and can always drop by and just browse about the bookshelves when I'm in need of a pick-me-up, and at the very least a monthly visit is absolutely necessary to quell the symptoms of withdrawal that result from my rampant, all-consuming bibliophilia. Technically it's a pretty small library. Although significantly bigger after the addition a few years ago, it obviously can't compare to the libraries you'll find in bigger cities but I still think it's a sizable library considering it's in such a small town, and with the inter-library loan system a patron actually has quite a number of books at their disposal anyway. As a resident of Logan, I'm more than satisfied to have a library of this size here. My only complaint is that the science fiction section is almost entirely useless. I read from just about genre besides romance, but unfortunately I have to go elsewhere for science fiction and fantasy because the selection is so poor here. The vast majority of the section is composed of incomplete series, and it seems no matter how big the series is they'll always be missing just 1 or 2 books. Is it a three-book series? They'll have two. A 5-book series? They'll have 3. A 7 book series? They'll have 5. If you look long enough you may find a standalone novel or two, and they actually do have some complete series, but it takes a lot of digging to find anything readable so I just give the whole section a miss. Also, the parking lots have terrible entrances and exits and I always feel like I'm damaging my car driving in and out of them. This, however, isn't so much a problem with the library as a problem with Logan in general. Other than that minor complaint, I'm a huge fan of the place. I'm also a member of the Fairfield County system, and even though they technically they are better in just about every way imaginable, I still find myself visiting Logan's library almost exclusively. Fairfield has a much bigger library, more libraries in their system, and almost every book imaginable can be delivered to any location in the system with their awesome online book request feature, and not even that can't lure me from this place. If you are a book lover in Logan and aren't using this library, you're really missing out, especially if you haven't visited in the last few years.

How has this not been reviewed already? It's an amazing museum…read more I came often as a kid since my grandparents lived nearby. It was just in one house then, a pretty typical small-town historical society with stuff crammed in display cases, and filling every room down to the basement. Cool for a history buff, but nothing spectacular. We went yesterday as part of the Ohio Statehood Day events, and, wow. They have added the house next door, and an addition in the back, and it is now an incredible museum. The volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable. The displays are beautiful and informative. All aspects of local history are covered. There are train sets, dolls, military artifacts, cars, covered wagons... All sorts of things, nicely restored. During our visit there was old-time music, a special display of early American weapons, costumed interpreters, etc. They said they decorate for Christmas with historical toys and decorations. We had a great visit and stayed till closing time. I would set aside at least an hour, better 2 or 3. This is a local gem, and worth a detour from anywhere in the state.

My hometown library! So many fond memories of Saturday morning book readings, field trips, and…read moreafter-school programs. Though I no longer live in Jackson, I am a frequent visitor, and today the Jackson Public Library saved me with their free wifi! I was pleasantly surprised to find a fully open and free broadband network that would let me finish my work without the frustration of dialup or satellite internet. For the area, the library is well stocked and can usually order books if you ask. It has a very pleasant feel, though a bit on the warm side for me. The help desk was true it its name when I had asked about free wifi. Not only can you borrow books, but you're also able to send faxes, browse an amazing selection of local history, newspapers, and other periodicals, and hop one of the many computers available. If you find yourself in Jackson looking for a free network or wanting to bone up on your southern Ohio history, come to the public library! It's a great place to work for a few hours!

Multiple floors of rows and rows of books. Lots of rooms for various purposes. Plenty of bathrooms on all floors. And also a lot of options like chairs, couches, and benches to sit on. There were gorgeous stairs off the main lobby but also a spacious elevator. The cafe inside was also a nice surprise and the coffee was pretty good! All in all I look forward to visiting again!

This is the most beautiful library I have ever seen. As others have said it is quite literally a…read moremuseum, with something to see (and read) everywhere you look. The architecture and the gardens are incredible. I know this is an overused word, but the gardens are truly magical. There are mini gnomes, fairy gardens, and bee houses tucked in among the flowers. It was so peaceful. I could spend an entire afternoon there.

It is a refuge for students who are studying and researching. Meeting rooms and lecture area areas abound. Plenty of space for working on projects, and electronic resources are readily available. If you're in an alumnus, and have not been inside the library in recent years please take a look when you have a time. The improvements to the facility are incredible. It is a world class resource for the university and the students learning here.
