I met her for the first time when my friend and I arrived at her amazing Kustard business, housed in a small, cute, yellow trailer, parked in a parking lot, high on top of a mountain next to a college, at 1819 Electric Road, in the corner of Keagy Road and Sugar Loaf Mountain in Roanoke, Virginia. As you well know "Frozen Custard is more creamy and flavorful on the palate since it's not as cold as ice cream. It also has a higher content of egg yolks and butter fat". For ten years she has been sharing this information with her customers, who she also considers as friends, through her amazingly delicious Frozen Custard. When we arrived to the trailer on a bright and windy sunny day, Keller quickly opened the window of the trailer and welcomed us with a warm greeting and a big smile. You could immediately tell that she was a people person and had a delightful personality. She genuinely enjoyed talking with us about her business. The business has also provided a means of her spending time with her twins - daughter Jordan and son, Noah - who have both joined her in the stand, as well as some of their friends. This and the people she interacts with daily have been one of the best things about having the custard stand. On the side of the trailer, she has posted several sheets of menus with an amazing variety of ways we can order her frozen custard. Since it was our first time there we both ordered a Vanilla Chocolate Twist in a Large Waffle Cone. Since it was extremely windy and somewhat cold, we ate the custards standing up next to the trailer. They we amazingly delicious: very soft and creamy. We looked forward to returning when the weather gets nicer and have another custard with more things on it, sitting at one of the tables with umbrellas provided in the area. I highly recommend this Frozen Custard Stand. But besides these two items, it's menu has expanded and now includes a delicious pork barbecue, sausage hoagies, and grilled cheese sandwiches. They offer window service and have reasantly started accepting credit cards in addition to cash. They now also have a fenced-in little patio with a picnic table and red umbrella to be able to sit down and enjoy your meal there. I arrived there on a hot summer day with temperatures in the 100 degrees. I had just eaten elsewhere, but stopped there to have some ice-cream. The building front was decorated in such a way that immediately captured the attention of anyone driving by, and so it did to me. After approaching the window, a friendly older lady opened it up and gave me a warm welcome. She told me they did not have a printed menu yet but all around the window there were posted menus of what they had. It was so hot that I decided to go with a Strawberry Milkshake, because with this heat any ice cream would melt quickly. While the owner prepared my milkshake a lady customer of the place arrived and we established conversation. She ended up being a relative of the owner of Brood Restaurant in Salem, Virginia. One of the last restaurants that I had written a Yelp review and was being featured in the app together with one of my photographs. She was delighted with by review just by reading the first few sentences and took a picture of it on my phone with her phone. What a small world I thought to myself. She suggested that next time I should try their pork barbecue. Another customer was also having the pork barbecue and also recommended it. When my milkshake was ready, I started drinking it with a thin straw the lady gave me, but it was so thick that I recommended she get thicker straws next time, but it was so good that I took the lid off and ended up drinking the cold and delicious milkshake. I highly recommend this ice cream shop and am looking forward to returning to try their now famous pork barbecue and maybe one of their Special Sundaes.

With the name of Delicia's Gourmet Ice, the business is a mobile Water Ice Company with a healthy alternative to traditional summertime frozen treats. The Tuckers started this business several years ago on a street corner with two coolers in the back of a Hyundai, with a simple plan: "That a friendly smile and great product would eventually succeed." Their product is a healthy, creamy and delicious Water Ice that is dairy, egg, and gluten-free. Their slogan for their delicious frozen treat is "It's not ice cream, just good ice," and their motto is: "We create smiles." They currently rotate 15 different flavors with some of the favorites flavors being Mango, Rainbow, Cherry, and Tye Dye. They also offer two sugar-free flavors, Lemon and Cherry. It was not easy to find them. Their phone number was answered by a machine asking you to leave a message. I sent them an email and luckily received a replay from Delicia telling me that their truck will be at the Food Lion parking lot on Shenandoah & Peters Creek today from 4 until dusk (8PM). I found out that the best way to find out where they will be next is to visit their Facebook or Instagram. As I arrived in my pearl white Lexus to the Food Lion parking lot, I felt a relief when I saw this little blue box trailer with Teano inside. He was a friendly gentleman with a true entrepreneurial spirit. We talked for a while and I ordered a small Mango Gourmet Ice. It had the taste and smooth, cold, creamy texture of ice cream, but was dairy free, gluten free, and kosher certified. While I was there several customers came by. A young gentleman, a group of young girls, a middle-aged lady, and a mother and her son. To let people know he was there he had a speaker that played loud music from his cellphone music collection. Once the customers arrived he turned off the music and served them. If a customer was a dollar short he let them have the gourmet ice. "How could you deny a kid an ice," he told me. My small Mango Gourmet Ice was $3 and I gave him a 5 dollar bill telling him to keep the change as a tip. Most of their business is private events. They do private events like birthdays, graduation parties, family reunions, company parties, and fundraisers, among others. Through perseverance and hard work their reputation has spread by word of month and they have been invited to fairs and public events like 4th of July celebrations. I highly recommend that you try their delicious Gourmet Ice and consider using their catering services for your next party or fundraising opportunity.
