They appreciate both the Old-the church has been around for 50 years!-and the New-Crossroads is a diverse neighborhood for Bellevue newcomers. Super convenient location accessible by public transit and close to Crossroads Mall so I can walk and run errands or grab a bite after church. Oh, on the premise the church hosts a taco truck, a family-run business, which gives the vibe of an easy gathering place for church attendees or just "regular folk". Kind of cool that the service/sermon is translated in real-time via a software program so people can follow along in a non-English language on an iPad they provide. This helps when I want to worship with my parents. In addition to the coffee hour after service, it's easy to meet new people or bring friends to the monthly congregational lunch. I like the Theology On Tap (beer, wine or water) discussions where I got to know people better in contemporary "tough" topics with no easy answers like "is violence ever justified?"

The whole church was beautifully decorated for the season. There were two official photo stations for families, but honestly, you could take a picture anywhere and still get great Christmas vibes. There was a huge Christmas tree in the center of the lobby and giant nutcracker statues by the entrance--super festive. They also had several drink stations with coffee, tea, hot cocoa, apple cider, plus cookies for everyone to enjoy. The service itself was wonderful. The message really focused on the heart of Christmas and our Savior, Jesus. At the end, we lit our candles and worshipped together with classic Christmas songs, remembering God's love and grace. Our whole family loved it and had such a meaningful time worshipping together.

Why I think OCC is a great church: 1) authenticity - this church walks its talk and puts its money where it's mouth is, supporting countless local and global outreach missions; 2) leadership - Pastor Mike is so genuine, & humble. He doesn't preach, but shares his faith in Christ and teaches others in a non-judgmental, loving manner; 3) pastoral staff - OCC has a big flock and they provide a large staff to meet the needs of the church. I love that Pastor Mike shares the pulpit with the other pastors because it's let me discover they are all such big-hearted, gifted pastors; 4) worship - I love the worship service, the music is great; it draws me in and helps me connect with God on many levels. The messages are relevant, fortified by scripture always move me. 5) LifeGROUPS - let's face it - whether you are a huge church or not, you can't develop meaningful relationships with others in an hour or two a week. These groups provide settings in homes where you get to know your group members more intimately. Through Pastor Pat and others, the church trains the leaders, mentors them and stays connected. I am a fan of more contemporary, casual churches but I also want a church that challenges me and helps me grow in my relationships with God and others. For me, OCC does this very authentically and passionately.

After hearing the pastor speak, it definitely felt like this could be a liberal church. I read another reviewer that this church became woke, and now I can see. I'm surprised they didn't have pride flags outside. A mega church doesn't grow this big without a pastor preaching the Bible. Although this church carries the title as a mega church, attendance from its members dropped a lot. Only half of the seats are filled during one service, which tells you a lot about its church direction. I would never attend a church that's LGBT, and this is what happens when a pastor and its staff allows the LGBT to take over a church. I don't mean to be judgmental towards any church, but it makes me want to steer clear whenever this issue comes up. The building is very nice and plenty of things for the kids to do here though. I would only take my family and friends to churches that preaches the Bible and isn't promoting LGBT

After I was dealing with a rudely discriminatory Contemporary choir leader in a Catholic Church, my…read moreson's Cub Scout Den Leader recommended that I "come on down" to the sister Episcopal Church -- Saint Margaret's. It was wonderful advice! Sweet, dedicated members. Their version of contemporary music is terrific. Their band director, Duane, is an open hearted, common sense gentleman that plays a mean guitar. They welcomed me with open arms. I was later recruited by my son's den leader to join the choir. OMG! Another fabulous perspective. The Music Director earned a Doctorate in Vocal Music at the U-Dub while working with us. Ryan can direct many instruments & lead singing in many octaves. He has a great sense of humor & an open mind. He also introduced us to Jazz Compline Services on every Second Sunday during the school year. Very refreshing. I "dragged" my youngest son (who with his Asperger's was being discriminated against at our neighboring Catholic church -- by the same leader) to join the youth program & then choir. He did very well in learning & expanding... also made many friends. The messages, sermons & homilies are entertaining as well as fulfilling. Their Easter Vigil is one of my favorites. The children do the readings. It begins outside, lighting candles, goes into the Bristol Hall for readings, then to baptisms with refreshing our own in the Narthex & on to the Glory & contemporary Easter music by the Altar. Young & old join in the songs & ringing bells in celebration! Now, y'all can tell that I LOVE music. But Saint Margaret's keeps all in mind. There is an early service on Sunday mornings at 7:15 with no music (quick & to God's point!) Then the contemporary Sojourners Praise Band at 8:45. Finishing with the Traditional Choir at 11:00. Communion is even open minded! They have bread for most along with gluten free at need. IOW this is a church for any & all "God Fearing & Loving" types of good people. Redemption is easy to find at Saint Margaret's. Oh & race or base are all welcome. God is here for everyone.

I especially love the worship music which is led by their praise band, Sojourners every Sunday. (They also have traditional music at a later service) The liturgy is a beautiful blend of the old and new and is relevant and meaningful. There are fun activities for everyone; singles, families, kids and they welcome everybody, as we are all God's children. There are numerous options for kids of all ages, from nursery care to relevant youth activities. Adult Education is thought provoking and interesting, touching on a wide range of subjects. Lastly, Outreach works with people and issues in the community, close to home, with emphasis on homelessness, hunger and housing. I've been a member here for a long time and cherish my church family. It's easy to get to, especially on Sunday mornings, just off of 405. Now if I could just quit stopping in at Nordstrom Rack on my way home! (The church is 2 blocks from Factoria Mall)

I was a bit worried, as I was running later than I would have liked. However, the service did not start right at 10am, so I was good. :o) Walking up the stairs, I was greeted by the pastor, which is not something that I experience at most churches. It was a pleasant surprise. Yet when I sat down in my seat to await the service, I didn't have a bunch of people pestering me about this being my first time. I liked that there was a balance like that. The service was good, and the worship song selection was great. I only knew the words to one of the songs, but liked the others and hope to learn them. All in all, I felt very welcome. I received a follow-up note from the pastor a couple days later which made it clear that this is a community of people who do care about those who enter their doors.
