Karaoke Epoc - Don't be scared to wander through the manga! Karaoke is at the back of Adanami Shobo (the bookshop)

Oh my goodness! I can't believe no-one has reviewed the epic Karaoke Epoc yet!!…read more When I was a student, I was never completely convinced that this place existed. I had vague drunken memories of stumbling into a manga shop and finding a mini-Japan style Karaoke box...I must have been here quite a few times with different groups of Japanese friends. However I could never find it again when I was sober. *blushes* Karaoke Epoc is hidden at the back of Adanami Shobo (the Japanese Manga/ book shop on Brewer street.) If you have never been there before, it can be a teeny bit tricky to find...look out for a 'De-lux Cleaning' sign to find the shop. This is one of the least posh karaoke places in London. The decor is a little old/scabby looking...but it is also brilliant! I'll tell you why: - We booked the huuuge room downstairs, and had more than enough room for all 16 of us. There was even enough room for us to dance around the table as well!! - They have teeny 4-6 people rooms upstairs if you have a smaller group. - There was a fridge in the corner, so we brought drinks and kept them cool in there. - The remote control is like a mini computer...you can search by song title or by artist. Ask for help if you can't read Japanese. - There is a decent Japanese/Korean/Chinese selection of songs as well as all the old English favorites. Oooh and a whole page of disney songs!! (^^) - It is really cheap, especially if you go early and have a large group of singing friends. Last night I paid £11 for three hours. I'm not the only on that loves this place!! Make sure you book in advance as it is nearly always booked up.

This is definitely the best karaoke in central London. I loved the simple set out rooms, that they…read morehave a digital book to select songs and also a paper one, the music quality and that the songs had awesome cheesy video instead of just a boring blue background, that you bring your own food and drink, and, bonus, a competitive price. When I come to London I always like doing karaoke with my friends, this now the only place I want to do it at. P.s. If you need to get some booze when you're there, go out of the front door and go left down the street, take the first right and there's a shop just there.

I can't help myself…read more Terrible singer or not, I have to sing or I could veritably blow up. In the car, shower, much to my husband's dismay. So when I saw a karaoke place open until midnight, on a SUNDAY, I felt all was right in the world. Cool karaoke places get you excited to be in there, before you even get to the private rooms. Even without people (it is Sunday) I could see myself being a regular there. Then the bad news came: They were closing at 11pm for a service vendor to come in waaahhh! I was a bit sad but then in the same breath, the guy told us we could sing for 35 minutes.. FOR FREE. Totally awesome of him ^_^ Inside, the rooms were clean and modern. The controls are on the wall next to the screen and we found most of the music we liked to sing! There's a mirror in there so you can rate your air guitar/Tina Turner hair flip etc. The only star strike is because the music and the lyrics on the screen are a tiny bit off on almost all the songs. So close, Lucky Voice! But really, if you drink enough, does anybody care? :)

Now, I am not one who usually gets excited about Karaoke nights, mainly due to my singing voice…read morewhich I personally think sounds like a howling dog in heat, and I rarely, if not ever sing in public. But when two of my closest friends kept hassling me about going to a private karaoke, I suddenly found the prospect of singing without an audience a lot less daunting and decided to join them for a night of singing antics. We decided to go for the Lucky Voice chain. Although we were only 3, they put us in a room that they said is usually dedicated for a group of 6. It was perfect for us 3, but would have been very very tight had we been 6. Once we got there, we were led to our private space which was darkly lit and decorated with dark crimson walls. They have a pretty good selection of songs, new and old, and you are able to control all of the sound and volumes from your own room. There is also an amazing little button called "thirst" which magically contacts a waiter to come and take your orders for drinks. At £ 7.80 a bottle of beer however, be warned that the drinks are extortionately priced. At least we were prepared for it and had fueled up a little beforehand. I had a really fun night at Lucky Voice, but I must warn you that it was a quite an expensive experience and it does tend to attract a lot of office party crowds. For more information on the rates and times it is always best to check the website or give them a call.
