I don't really understand how this chain has become such a large presence in the UK. Even by British standards where locals will often tell you that the historic impression of their food being bland and uninspiring is overblown and will recommend countless places to you that unfortuantely confirm the impression to be true, I have yet to meet one person here who enjoys Wagamama. "Oh that place is terrible - you should try Bone Daddies!" If you've been to Bone Daddies you'll know what an indictment that is of Wagamama. I mean what else can I say that probably has been written about countless times in other reviews? It's pan Asian (problem #1), some things are fried in a pan, there's noodle dishes you can get and all of it sucks. It has sucked for what, 20 odd years now? Every once in a while (~five years) I will have no other choice (e.g. airport, tagging along with colleagues, drunk, etc.) but to eat here and every single time I am in awe at how truly forgettable it is. How one company can render the tastes of cusines that are normally so delicious to be so bereft of flavor is truly a marvel in mass produced sludge. It must be the marketing right? The playful name? That the locations look inviting? It has to be something other than the reputation that gets people through the door. read more

Simple, easy and cheap. A friend and I decided to meet for an impulsive dinner and wanted cheap and cheerful. In the area there isn't many options and I always have a hankering for noodles and gyoza so wagamamas suited that perfectly. The Canary Wharf branch is large, with long benches - as the norm. We were seated quickly and as it wasn't overly busy, could choose our table and had our own space and area for the entire evening. The food came out quickly and service was on point. In and out in an hour. I opted for the pulled pork gyoza and the yaki soba. Both were enjoyable and the pulled pick actually had more of a Peking duck flavour to it which was nice. Sure Wagamamas is a chain and the quality isn't up there with the best of London but for quick and easy food it was spot on and just what we needed! read more

Right lets get straight to the point! Fantastic customer service! Immaculate restaurant! Yeah the menu confusing but hey! Ive come here for one meal and one meal only and that is...wait for it... CHICKEN KATSU CURRY.....seriouly AMA-ZING! Chicken breast wrapped in panko bread crumbs were tender and crispy and soooo good. Wagamama is such a fun restaurant! Located in the underground Jubilee Place Mall, this restaurant "sits" above the GBK. For a chain, the food is outstanding, and the prices are very reasonable (especially for the expensive city of London). On a Sunday for lunch this Wagamama wasn't too busy, so my friends and I were seated at one of their long picnic-type tables by ourselves. During the height of weekday lunch you may be seated with strangers, but that just adds to the fun...perhaps you'll be seated next to a tall dark stranger in a business suit. You never know. We snacked on some edamame with salt before our entrees arrived. I loved my Chicken Tama Rice...it was a nice size portion and so yummy! If I lived in London, I'd eat at Wagamama at least once a month. Hint: Green Tea is free...but you have to know to ask for it. :) read more

I'm not generally a big fan of Japanese food, but I do love some Teriyaki! I was skeptical when I came here with friends, but thankfully I was not disappointed! The teriyaki here was very tasty but not in the style I'm used to. And that's not a bad thing! The wait staff was helpful and very friendly and the atmosphere was casual and fun. I came here for lunch with coworkers and we were unanimously disappointed with the service and food here. Wagamama is a chain that serves Asian dishes. The branch at Canary Wharf is pretty large. My coworkers and I came at 11:45AM and were seated right away. By 12:15PM, the restaurant was packed. There seems to be a lot but still a shortage of staff because the waiter who initially took our orders never came back. It was hard for us to track down a waiter, whether it was to order, have our waters refilled or getting the bill. I ordered a pad thai but was really confused with the flavors I was getting from this dish. The flavors were also pretty bland. We also shared a fried squid. This was alright. The flavors were there but the texture of the squid was quite rubbery. Overall, poor service and inauthentic food at Wagamama although conveniently located. Do you like dog food? I don't mean the hearty, crunchy kibble which, although I have not tried it, even if it were not that good would provide a satisfying 'crunch' to it, but I mean like the wet food out of the can. If you do, this place will likely be rather excellent for you as they create piles of mush that defies the laws of normal, human food. Had the 'soba noodles with salmon' and found out that they were not, in fact, soba noodles. I looked at the plates of garbage around me and found myself wondering why I had ended up in this situation? I would imagine if one had committed a rather egregious and violent crime in a nordic country, they would send you to a prison with much better food than this. Still - the people lined up. We are in a mall above a swamp so perhaps this is the logic? That said, there is the new crossrail area which does have good food - this place should be skipped. At all costs. Unless, as I've mentioned, you like dog food. Then hurry over - you never know if a place that serves garbage that looks like dog food will stick around very long. read more

I don't give a damn is a restaurant is a chain. I only care if the food is good..... The food is good. I've heard about Wagamama for years and only this time in London did I have the chance to try it. I had the spicy fried rice with beef bowl (also with egg and kimchi) and it was quite tasty. I added just a bit of the chili oil to give it a kick. Also had a cup of jasmine green tea. Yummy for the tummy. Service was very good and the price of the meal was very reasonable. Overall a great experience and I would most definitely return if given the opportunity. read more

Been to this particular Wagamamas quite a few times before. We always go in the evening so I have never had to queue. It's great for a quick, tasty meal! The staff are all very friendly and attentive and the service is quick! Standard Wagas set-up, communal benches and tables, very plain and simple, very clean and tidy in the Canary Wharf restaurant. The food always tastes good, its yummy, clean Japanese inspired cuisine, I would recommend- the juices, the Pulled Pork Gyoza, Edamame, Chicken Katsu Curry and the Ginger Chicken Udon. read more

Wagamama, oh how the mighty have fallen. There was a time, back in 1994, when one could go to Wagamama in Coptic Street, have to queue for 15 minutes or so just to sit down, but get a Ramen and drink for less than £5. I don't think anything on the menu is less than £5 anymore. Now, the wagamama offering is still tasty for the most part, but the entire menu seems to be constructed from the same basic ingredients that are strung together in different ways, so it's like lego fast food made to look like properly prepared meals. Went for lunch with a friend for the first time to a Wagamana branch, and I really enjoyed everything. Food was very good -- I ordered the chilli prawn with rice, and it was really flavourful. We also had duck gyoza, and it went very nicely with the plum sauce it was served with. Service was surprisingly good and quick. We went at the peak of the lunch hours, and the place was rather crowded, but our food arrived promptly and the servers were on top of their game. Not much to comment on ambience -- it is what it is being a chain. One downside was that it was quite loud, so I had to almost shout throughout the conversations. For starters take out and queue for table were two different lines on opposite sides, very misleading as there were no signs. Service was very slow and food was warm when arrived. I ordered the steak bulgogi yakisoba and although presentation was nice, the dish was super spicy !!! This wasn't clear on the menu, if not suggested at all. Staff were very nice despite slow service but at the end of meal, I asked waitress to validate mine and my husbands car park ticket but only one was validated and we didn't find out until we reached the car park. Really good for what it is! It's very tailored to a western palette, but I did enjoy it a lot! The noodle soups are delicious and really generous portions for England. My only slight complaint is the lack of spice, even the hot sauces they brought over to us were a little bland. read more

Food in Wagamama is not bad, but it is not great either. This place is good for a quick meal...my favorites are the chili squid, Wagamama ramen and Yaki Udon. They are served in generous portions so it is worth the price as long as you are not looking for something fancy. Service is always quick and good here! read more

Now i am quite fond of waga's, pretty reliable and all that. Tasty fills a hole. But go to this one at your peril I'd say. It wasn't worth the chopsticks you were eating with. Everything seemed to be reheated, the noodles definately were and I was told that this was because they were busy - but how long can it take to cook noodles for goodness sake, they were all stuck together and pretty rough. My chap got his meal 20 mins before mine and the dim sum were chewy when they were meant to be crispy. What's more the manager didn't really seem to care. Shame really. Quite a large wagamamas when i went it was quite late so it was not too busy. i was not impressed when they kept mixing up our orders with the table next to us, and when my noodles arrived after a very long wait they were cold! I had seen them sitting on the counter for at least 5 mins and complained to waitress she offered to warm them up but i rejected as my friends had finished there meals i got a refund :) and they gave me a doggy bag to take my noodles home in which i popped in the microwave later that night as a midnight snack nothing tastes better then free noodles! read more

Anybody who likes budget noodles and a canteen ambiance must give Wagamamas a try. Located all over the UK, this is great value for money. In the Wharf this place can get extremly busy, which makes this one less enjoyable than others I have eaten in. Almost too in-and-out for my liking. read more

I really don't like Wagamama. All my friends used to go mad over this place, but I could never understand what they saw in it. I've been twice. The first time it was average. I went more recently and it was really rubbish. I suppose this is why they don't go on about it any more. Granted, it has a nice location in Jubilee Place and the staff are lovely! In my mind, this is one of the best Wagamamas in London. The food is really good here, I think some of the noodle soups or ramen, are better than at other Wagamamas. I've been here quite a few times, and have always experienced this. The food is always really hot, and just like all the Wagamamas the choice of drink is one of the best features. The juices are very good, and refreshing. The location isn't amazing in terms of views/scenery, but it is handy. Its located in the Cabot Square shopping centre, so if you come up from Jubilee line exit, take a left before the escalators to enter the shopping centre and you will eventually find it on your right. One thing I must praise here is the service standards. You really spend very little time waiting for food to arrive. The orders are taken quickly and the food arrives within minutes. Service? What service? Having been to several wagamammas in the past, this branch has to be the worst of the lot. The staff in this location either have not been trained or paid and they do try to show you that, poor attitude when showing you to a table, giving a menu or when ordering food. Their ignorance to their own store's promotions is astounding too. Despite the food being alright, this is really not a place I would want to bring any friends or relatives to - plenty of other options nearby. read more
