This is our third year attending. It's nice that they put this on for free, and it gives you a glimpse of the Chinese culture. My family is half Chinese, so it gives a good boost of culture for our little ones.
My biggest issue is food. There is always one table that has authentic Chinese food (moon cakes, etc) , but the other three vendors are serving American Chinese food.
I hated American Chinese food growing up, it wasn't until I met my husband that I understood what Chinese food is really all about. It's not that sickly sweet cuisine, it's deep flavored wholesome food. People are coming to this to experience culture, this is the perfect time to expose people authentic Chinese food.
I wish they could get some vendors that would focus on a more authentic experience. I know the vendors want to make money, but a lot of the people there are Chinese, and probably would be happy to have something other than beef broccoli or orange chicken .
People love food festivals, I have a feeling it could do better if there was a little more emphasis on the food.
Other than that, they have free crafts, music, games and performances.
We appreciate the efforts regardless! read more
