After I teed off from the blue tees and drove into the fairway, I could tell why the prices are within reason. The fairway is relatively torn, and the cart paths look like they were in a mine field. It's an abysmal process to drive on the cart paths, my bag almost fell off of the cart numerous times. The course layout isn't bad, it's very hilly, but we are in Western PA. The overall golf experience itself isn't bad, but the maintenance of the course is definitely something to consider when playing this course. I would recommend this course to an amateur golfer in the Washington County area, still a fun track to play.

Turned out to be exactly what I needed and hoped it would be. I'm still very much learning this game. My father inlaw got me a fitting for a new driver for Christmas from 84 golf center. I finally scheduled an appointment with them just this past week. I met them today and Chris greeted me on arrival. Both Chris and Joe spent the next hour or so analyzing my swing with crazy computers and raw teaching skill. They worked hard to correct my swing before even letting me pick a club. Then probably spent another 20 minutes or so getting the shaft right. I never felt like I was wasting there time... Chris truly seemed vested in my getting it right. Didn't know how great it can feel swinging correctly with the right driver and have the ball go where it's supposed to. Almost 2 hours later I walked away with a mental checklist (which I wrote down) to help my swing and a driver that is setup for me. I highly recommend visiting these experts. I'll be going back for lessons and any time I need a new club. Thanks guys

It was great for someone like me who is a new golfer and I didn't have to feel the pressure of holding up some more experienced golfers. I got to go at my own pace and practice my swing and stance. Tomlinson Run State Park offers breakfast at the campground on Saturdays from 8am-12pm, Memorial Day through Labor Day, and it's truly a hidden gem. The food was absolutely delicious--hot, fresh, and made with care. What's even better? It's all prepared by amazing volunteers, and every dollar goes right back into supporting the park. You can really feel the community pride in every bite. We'll definitely be back again before the season ends. If you're local (or even just passing through), make the stop. It's a great way to kick off a Saturday morning surrounded by nature and good people.

First time visiting this park. It is on the small side compared to other WV State Parks. This means…read morethat it is faster to get to where you are going in the park (no long road in). As you enter the park there is a road to the right that takes you to the campground (BTW, I have rated the campground separately under Campground at Tomlinson Run State Park). As you drive forward you will pass the Park Superintendent's house (on the right). Behind the house is a tiny building that serves at the park HQ. This is where you need to go if you want to stamp your VIPP card. Not obvious and you feel like you trespassing on the residence there but just drive past and then to your right and find the stamp. Along this road on the left you will find a picnic area and shortly after you will come to the edge of a small lake (on the left). On the right is the entrance to a road the winds up and around to the top of a hill (through the woods). There are two picnic areas. The first is off to the left before really heading up the hill. This one was buggy when I was there. At the top of the hill there is a parking lot and picnic areas. Nice spot! The road that goes through the park continues onward and then there is a parking area on the right above the lake. At the lake's edge are paddle boat rentals. If you continue on the road straight on the road you will end up exiting the park.

The owner and professional Brad Westfall is very friendly and knows his stuff! He is multiple winner of the West Virginia Open and won many prestigious tournaments outside of home state WV. The entire Westfall family are magnificent. Jody Westfall (Wife of Brad) is an absolute saint. She is very kind and always has a positive and upbeat attitude. They have two daughters named Sidney and Jenna who are absolutely the cutest pair of girls on the planet. I would have loved to seen those two take after their father on golf links. In conclusion, Tygart Lake Golf Course is top 3 of my favorite golf courses to play. I recommend this course to anyone looking to play a round and enjoy the hills of WV.

The course was pretty open for the most part. There are some dangerous holes and the potential to lose a ball or two. The staff was friendly and really appreciated our patronage. The carts were nice and worked as expected. I enjoyed the upkeep of most of the course. There were a few dry spots but it wasn't hurting play. Some of the cart paths were pretty rough. Almost felt like we wouldn't make some of the ruts, but we made it!! After Covid, I feel like repairs are in order. Come play and enjoy your round!!!
