I live in the town of Wassaic about 3 miles from the Wassaic Project and am so proud of what they have done. FYI. The Lantern as every local knows has the best pizza you can find outside of NYC and their bartenders are terrific. We also have a fabulous new bakery, called Vitsky Bakery, a few doors down from The Lantern. Ten Mile Distillery is in Wassaic and has excellent views, drinks and food.

Thought provoct There's a MetroNorth station within walking distance; using a GPS in the car is a little confusing. Street parking is limited. Across the tracks there is a parking lot with a $20 charge. During the festival. The main gallery is in an old granary. Their 7th floor is equivalent to a 10 story high-rise. There isn't an elevator. Wear sensible shoes. Food - near the main building are snacks. Up the road, by the green building are vendors and wine. Cash only. $$. Across the tracks is The Lantern; a quaint bar/restaurant. Their menu is limited to pizza, buffalo wings and a couple other items. The Bar has imported beers, wines and other beverages. There's a pool table. Odd that they allow children in the bar area. If you decide to visit the entire museum it is a climb up stairs; be prepared. There's no elevator.
