A small local Asian market in Augusta with a wide variety of ingredients for cooking asian cuisines. Their ramen selection was pretty broad, but if you've gone here for Korean snacks, their selection is very limited. Purchased few Korean turtle chips, but the price will be highly than making purchase at larger Asian markets like H-Mart. I would even say their snacks selection in general isn't as diverse, not to mention most their icecream products were out of stock. I was also casually looking through some of their shelf products and the expiration date on the package was expired; not sure if their quality assurance check is up to standards. read more

This is the largest market of East and Southeast Asian food items in Augusta. At first, I was kind of unimpressed, but then I discovered that this is a maze-like irregular store. You have to wander through the back to find the produce section. There are a lot of esoteric items here; I didn't find everything I wanted but I did find a fantastic spicy black bean sauce that I haven't seen in years, as well as some tasty long beans and some nice-looking frozen dumplings. It isn't the cleanest store, the organization is strange, and it's not what you'd get in a big city, but it wasn't hard to have a worthwhile shopping visit. read more

The service was horrible! The last time I came, I realized that I could get the lobster tails for cheap but they're very small. so when I ordered, I ordered a bag of ice because they told me you can get a bag of ice for free. The guy with the Eskimo hat with the black jacket, white guy with glasses. Told me to not stick the lobster tail in the ice. I said who you talking to and you can go from there, but it wasn't an argument. I just enlightened him. Today I went got some more lobster tails and a bag of ice. He proceeded the same man proceeded to follow me around the store until I checked out. Which was ridiculous. The lobster tails are cheap so why would I steal it. This will be the last time I come here. So be aware of the prejudice that's at the store. read more

Tip: In the future. The owner plan on opening a Banh Mi deli in the back of the market. First time to the market. I've been here twice since starting to write this review. The first time I was able to find everything. The second time I could find Chinese porridge (joke) in ready to go packets. The staff were friendly and helpful in search the whole market for it. I am flabbergast by their huge selection, which I usually only find in Asian supermarkets in Atlanta, GA. Cashier were plentiful and cheerful when I enter the market. I did not get a sense of unwelcomeness when I come into the market. The crowd were plentiful. I like that the back of the store sells little Asian items for cooking or plating your food. I recommend buying the items here, then on Amazon. Location has plentiful parking with easy entrance and exit onto the main highway of Washington Road. I personally love the Banh Mi they sell near the cashier for quick to-go lunch. This might not be for everyone, since the meat is a luncheon meat and not freshly cooked meat normally found in a Banh Mi shop. read more

Let me start with the good. I'm really glad that the Augusta CSRA has this store as an option. Living in larger cities, I really miss a good Asian market. That segways into the bad. Because this is the only Asian market of this size in the immediate area, I feel like the basic laws of supply and demand ring true here. Some of the items at this market are ridiculously expensive. I'm sure that's because if you're looking for certain items that are hard to find, either you suck it up and pay it, or go without, but still! The last time I was here, I paid $18 USD for 6 pack of Melon Ramunes (Japanese Soda). I won't do that again! The store is also weirdly organized. I haven't figured out a rhyme or reason to the setup yet. This is why I'm really torn to leave this review. I like supporting mom and pop businesses, but at the same time, I'd love for Super H mart to give them a little bit of competition and a run for their money. At least bring the Ramune prices down! It could be cleaner. It is really old and smelly. It could be more spacious. Isles are very tight and the shelves are tall and I feel closed in. But, they have just about everything you could want for sauces and spices. Good variety of noodle packages. The staff is very warm and friendly. They will help you find things. This store can be busy at times. Not sure about fresh meat offerings because I don't go to that section. Produce is unique. Take your time and look around and see what you can find. read more

I was introduced to Asian culture at 12 years old working making cheesesteaks and hoagies at the corner grocery store in my home town Philly and again in college with roommates from Thailand. Instant beef Pho? Better than every restaurant in the area and only 89 cents. Customer service amazing they ask if you need help while you shop and when you are at the register. Find your hard to find asian ingredients here. Biggest come up....Soy sauce not kikkoman cause nit whay they use I'm talking the real deal asian soy sauce. Pretty solid asian mart overall in a city that likely wouldn't be able to sustain one of the larger ones (99 ranch, jusgo, H mart, etc). It's got most of the items you need to cook asian food yourself such as oyster sauce, different kinds of soy sauce, seasonings, pork sung, teas, and more while being priced relatively fairly overall. Expect maybe a 10-15% upcharge compared to the aforementioned asian stores but considering the nearest one is a 2 hour drive away, it is a fair price to pay for convenience and decent variety. The fact that they have vietnamese sandwiches for only $5.25 a pop is a bonus if you want a quick meal to go. These sandwiches have an acceptable amount of cold cut filling and liver pate and are definitely solid for the price. My only gripe would be that the produce items could be a bit more fresh- some of the potatos i got the other day had black spots in them. I would recommend sticking to the the butcher section, frozen section, and asian items for cooking at home and pick up a few vietnamese sandwiches to go. I have a deep gratitude for how my parents were intentional in exposing me to various foods. Their service in the military took them around the world and afforded them the opportunity to try meals that were not only non-American, but not Americanized as well. One trip in particular had a profound impact on my father; his year in Seoul, Korea. He returned with a love for kimchi, kimbap, bulgogi, and so much more. And at the ripe age of 10 I was exposed to these beautiful delicacies as well. I am forever grateful. I had heard of the Cho Ba Mien Market, but due to its proximity to downtown I had not ventured in. But one morning, knowing I was nearby and time was on my side, I made a visit. I am glad I did. The size of their space cannot be estimated from the outside. You walk in, only to discover there are numerous sections; non-perishables, bakery, produce, fresh (including seafood), frozen, dried goods, and cooking equipment. Looking for a sauce or type of noodle? Come here. Kimchi? They have six varieties. Dried mushrooms? Candies? Fresh fish? Frozen wontons? All here. Though I scanned the entire place I had one item on my mind; kimchi noodles. If you ever have a cold-flu-sinus issues, this is your cure all. Keep them in the pantry at all times. But, once I found those I saw some Spicy Seafood Udon noodles as well. Can't have too many noodles. I am back about every two weeks, picking up something to either cook with or snack on. I hope to try my hand at Korean barbecue soon. And yes, they have all of the supplies for that as well. read more

The staff here are always friendly. They have most, if not, all of my go-to asian items. There is plenty of parking! I've been here multiple times, but today was different. I saw a sign that said banh mi sandwich. This was a total game changer. I basically scarfed this down on the way home. The pickled veggies are on point! The bread is just okay. I didn't have the liver pate on mine...but just hoping that was a mishap. I could literally eat these all day for $3.75. The staff said these were homemade, which I'm sure of and better yet, they said I could call in ahead of time to have one made. I think my dreams just came true. read more

There are no asian markets near me, so to finally come to one that's so clean, with fresh seafoods and vegetables, and an incredible inventory of all the asian food products I remember my mom shopping for when I was a kid is uplifting. The newest Asian market is still sort of in the process of a soft open but they're getting more and more inventory in every day. They have more dried goods than the Asian market closer to Earth Fare and much fresher veggies, seafood and meat than the other Asian market around the corner. They focus on the fresh and exotic items and keep it fun and exciting. I stopped in three times after the unofficial opening with a short grocery list. Not only did I find palm sugar and seasonings but I found Vietnamese coffees and candies that I hadn't seen in years! I sometimes have to drive all the way to Doraville for items I can't find at any of the other international markets but thanks to this store, I'm making the trip to Atlanta fewer and fewer times a month. Do yourself a favor and try a banh mi if you're there on the weekends. It's a delicious french baguette with pickled carrots, onion, cilantro and jalapeno with pate, or sausage or BBQ pork/chicken. Yes! This is the first Asian/Vietnamese I've visited in the CSRA and I'm really impressed. Clean, very organized and affordable. Even though it's a grocery store, they do carry Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwich), Banh Bao, various plated snacks and rolls. I think the Banh Mi is made in house. It's on par with Banh Mi with the ones in the Bay Area (California)!!! Baguette is crunchy, pate, meat, mayonnaise and delicious veggies. I bought the last 4 and ate 2 within an hour. Everything a Banh Mi should be in comparison to the one Pho Bac offers! Cho Ba Mien you did well in keeping it real! I will be back for more and probably buy more than 4 every time. As someone who live in Seattle for the most of my life, I was a bit disappointed that there aren't as many Asian markets in Augusta as I would like and the ones here were small. So I was excited to find out about this store! Although it was not as big as H-Mart or 99 Ranch, it was bigger than any other markets in this area.
