Fast forward to last year and her wedding... during the pre-wedding photo session, the photographer and I hit it off (not like that, perv... I was there with my girlfriend and the photographer is happily married). She was just really awesome... confident and decisive but playful and unobtrusive... she made the photographs fun. And I don't usually like wedding photographers because they usually remind me of former Russian military or crazy hoarder cat-lady... expressing their pent-up need to control others though their 2 hours of power... But I digress... Kristi is amazing, she actually made the wedding MORE fun and the times we were out in the heat (yes, my friend opted for a summer wedding in Austin) enjoyable. In the end, Katie ended-up with amazing photographs (turns out people look better and take better photos when they are happy and having fun) and I ended-up with another friend. I've been best man in two weddings, a groomsman in at least 15, and an user in probably 10 over the years... including Katie's wedding last year. It's no contest, Kristi is the best wedding photographer I've ever seen. So if you're interviewing photographers, put Kristi in the mix. She has a way to magically capture moments and feelings, which is why we have gone back to these photos time and time again to relive our wedding. I can feel my wife's hand when I slid the ring on her slender finger. I can taste my first bite into that wedding cupcake. My heart still strikes a stronger beat when I see our first dance over and over again. It is my laptop's wallpaper after all. Kristi's capturing of our wedding has given me a true appreciation for what real, honest to goodness, quality photographs can do for life. Every penny I spent to hire Kristi was worth it. That said, she wasn't expensive at all! As far as comparable options in the Austin area, Kristi definitely keeps a competitive rate. Overall the entire photography portion of our wedding went flawlessly. Kristi keeps things casual, she is down to earth and easy to talk to, but also professional, she knows what shes doing and how to give instruction set up the best shots. During the wedding / reception Kristi called very little attention to herself and yet was still able to capture all the fun and love we were sharing. The after-wedding shots exceeded our expectations as well. She has a great eye and set up some really creative and insightful shots. We have a treasure trove of photos that we will value for our entire lives.
