When I think of chocolate cake, Chocolat's rendition of the classic always comes to mind. Their version is a really moist and thickly coated cake that comes in several varieties, making it a great item to bring during dinners, or to be given as gifts.
Their best-selling cake, the Deep Dark Classic, is a very moist cake - and nothing fancy is decorated on the cake. What you get even for the lack of visual appeal is a really rich dark chocolate cake that tastes like it did not scrimp on ingredients. While the cake might be a little too sweet for some palettes, what you get is a piece of cake that is loaded with sinful chocolate-y flavor, and I have not come across other cakes that has a similar taste.
Another recipe of Chocolat's that I am a huge fan of if I want something different is their Bailey's chocolate cake. The base of the cake is very much like their Deep Dark Classic, however, this one just oozes with that unique Bailey's flavor. It's a good alternative if you want a unique cake but still the same Chocolat Deep Dark Chocolate quality.
Apart from these two cakes that I really like, there's also the Kahlua Deep Dark Cake, Chocolate Hazelnut (made with hazelnut spread filling topped with hazelnut chocolate cubes), Chocolate Caramel and Death by Tablea, a cake made with icing from cacao and condensed milk. All these cakes have that same quality as the Deep Dark Classic, and comes in various sizes - whether whole for sharing, 6" (makes great gifts), loaf (also makes great gifts - or if you just want a personal sized one hanging out in your fridge for you to eat later), or a slice.
Aside from these Chocolat classics, Chocolat also has banana walnut cakes, sugar-free chocolate mousse, tiramisu and a variety of cheesecakes, bars and cupcakes.
While their cake shop is small, most of the cakes is meant to be enjoyed outside their store as there is limited seating. But wherever you are, these cakes are really meant to be shared and enjoyed even on your own or in the company of friends. read more
