A denied claim for a kitchen faucet leak replacement + installation w/a 3 year coverage plan is dissatisfying. Based on a technicality the CHW rep explained rust & corrosion is not normal wear. Beware of the fine print in these plans having peace of mind that your dwelling is covered is false advertising and misleading The icing on the faucet cake because the drywall repair was caused by the non-covered faucet; that too was not covered. Yikes. Bad to worse Choice Home Warranty is not all they market them selves to be. And the coverage you think you have as a policy holder is less. It's been two weeks since I made a claim for my plumbing system and still has not been repaired. I made the claim on July 22nd and, as of August 7th, no repair has been made. I'm unable to use the basement bathroom and Choice Home Warranty is not providing good faith to satisfy my claim. I was assigned to a plumber that jerked me around for a week with three separate reschedules. This plumber gave me three differing excuses for each reschedule: "the plumber had an auto accident", "the plumber had a flat tire", and "the plumber was on bereavement leave". On the day of the third appointment that was supposed to be the repair, the plumber backed out of the repair because they wanted me to buy the part. This plumber informed me that Choice Home Warranty (Choice) will only cover a portion of the repair and I had to pay the difference of $675. This plumber also wanted to reschedule again if I wanted the repair! This plumber waited until the day of my third appointment to tell me this! I took a day off work for this appointment. This plumber practiced poor communication. Choice assigned me a second plumber and I had to wait another week for this appointment. On the day of the appointment, this second plumber informed me that his company didn't install sewerage ejection pumps. So, once again, my claim went back to Choice's dispatch. As of August 7, no plumber has been assigned to my claim. My experience has been disgusting and totally unacceptable. I been asking for a high-level manager and keep getting the typical responses and apologies. Apparently, no one has the power to simply reimburse me and find it better for Choice to keep looking for a plumber. Choice is being deceptive as they are not fully disclosing the true cost of this repair. It appears the reason they can't find a plumber is because their "technicians" are refusing to accept Choice's payment terms. I paid the $85 service fee which I thought would be only out-of-pocket costs. They advertise their warranty covers various systems and covers the costs of repairs. However, I'm finding out the hard way, they have failed to adhere to their advertisement. This is deceptive advertising. The state of Arizona filed a lawsuit against this company in 2019 for this very practice. read more

For one, they send people out that will tell you every time that nothing is broken so that they get $75 just for showing up and doing absolutely nothing. and secondly- THEY WILL HARASS YOU. I get at least 4-5 calls a day from them even though I made it very clear that I do not want to renew service with them. They email as well. Buyer beware! Don't believe the Choice Home Warranty sales people! Their positive reviews are paid for. I prepaid for their 3 year no-rate-increase plan on two homes, did not file a claim until 7 months later for a simple dishwasher top tray repair and they denied the claim evidently because their repair vendor filed a fraudulent claim. Then, when I cancelled the two contracts, I was assured that I would receive a full refund less a $50 cancellation fee per contract - but - the actual refund was prorated - and they said they would not refund any amount until 15-30 days later. Horrible experience. I called in to object to both the refund amount and the 15-30 day processing time and spoke to 3 different reps who basically talked over me and said there was nothing I could do to appeal these two matters other than file a case in court. I'm going back to American Home Shield and will pursue a claim against Choice Home Warranty. read more

I strongly advise against using Choice Home Warranty they appear to be a scam. They eagerly take your money upfront but fail to deliver on expected service. A technician was sent to assess my washing machine. He told me that the problem was a result of normal wear and tear, and that a claims representative would get back to me. The next day my claim was denied for the absurd reason that the problem was a pre-existing condition. That didn't make any sense to me because the appliance was working fine until this repair was needed. So I chose to dispute their determination. After receiving the runaround and dealing with various representatives, they only returned my call after I threaten to cancel my policy. So I began to suspect that the reason that this company has such a large team of case managers was to deal with all of the denied claims. After wasting more time arguing, their so-called resolution was that they would give me $100 to use towards purchase of a new appliance or use the $100 towards the $400 repair only if I used their repair person. So I purchased the service, get rejected when I need a repair and then get offered repair service at a fee. It sounds like a scam to me. I had this warranty for the the last 8 months, never used it until my air went out, the only live person you can talk to is in sales, recording over and over make a claim after several phone calls. The technician from Sears they used to fix our refrigerator was exceedingly rude and ordered the incorrect part which caused them to continually reschedule appts. The correct part had to be bought on our own. Then Choice would not return calls to get the repair scheduled, but continued to say how sorry they were. It's been three weeks without a refrigerator. We had to call and schedule our own service technician from a more reputable company, paying out of our own pocket, to repair it. Yet again, I've been fooled by a home warranty company. My airconditioner fan broke - seized up after 15+ years of daily use. Put in a claim, they told me to get my own technician (still charged the 65 call out fee). My technician said it was wear and tear, caused the motor to seize and go out of balance. I paid for the repair as per Choice instructions, they then denied my claim on stating it was not wear and tear, it was due to incorrect installation. The airconditioner had worked perfectly for 15+ years. When I objected to their denial, they assigned a "case manager" and set up a meeting time to discuss. Not ONCE did this "case manager" return my emails, and on the day of the meeting failed to call. I had to call and spoke to some random guy who couldn't get it through his head that I'd already paid for the repair - per their instructions. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This is a SCAM home warranty company. I requested a tech to fix my AC but they sent NV Heating and Cooling on May 24, 2024, with non trained tech. The tech told me that the control board is broke and their company will call me on Monday. I paid $77 for the service call. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service!! This includes Choice Home Warranty and Heating Solutions (GA) the company Choice chose to fix the furnace. The wrong part was ordered (4 day delay), tech did not show on scheduled date, unable to reach anyone at Solutions, Solutions vm was full. The technician never called or showed for repairs. Then when he was reschedule he did not show or call. Called Choice to file a complaint and requested a manager call back; didn't happen. Next appt. the tech he advise Choice I missed the appt. although he never called. I then called Choice again to complain they had NO notes of my first complaint call, and advised a mngr would c/b in 24 hrs. I had to argue with the representative to get a mngr on the phone. Then when I spoke with the manager to file a complaint the manager (Richard) decided it would be wise to advise me my payment was a few days late. This is the worst warranty company and the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have carried and paid for Our home warranty for 8 years with 3 claims! I have dealt with them for 3 months for my Dishwasher that had broken. I was told they couldn't find the parts but put me off for 10 weeks, with new excuses week after week! DON'T BUY A POLICY! I was looking for a reasonable home warranty for anything that may happen in the future. I talked to a CHW salesman and he talked me into signing up with them. BIG MISTAKE!! My monthly payment was $43.75 for one year, seemed reasonable. I filed a claim and even paid the $75 service fee. My claim was denied. Here's why .... When I got this coverage I was NOT told by the salesman the correct information about how my policy worked and what exactly was covered. When I received my policy via email, I was shocked to learn what exactly I was paying for. Nothing in my policy was worth having at least for my situation. The first claim I filed that was denied, I paid the $75 service fee and then was told it would not be covered because of the wrong information I was given by the salesman. I was totally misled and misinformed. I was pissed so I contacted a case manager with CHW and she explained that they would apply that $75 to my very next claim .. I have this in writing via email. NOPE didn't happen! When I tried to file the 2nd claim, they said I would have to pay $75 service fee this time and the next claim they would apply that credit of the $75 .. ARE YOU FRICKIN KIDDING ME?! This was ridiculous! So the whole year I had this policy, I filed only 2 claims that both were denied. I paid $600 for the 12 monthly payments and that $75 service fee that was a complete joke. That being said it was a grand total of $675 for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! The customer service is horrible, you're lucky if you at least get somebody you can understand. They try very hard to keep you from canceling after the promotional year is up. I had called several times so I could cancel before the renewal date. I kept getting the run around, hang ups, wrong departments to call and also I was told I would get a call back .. NOPE .. it was so frustrating. Finally, I talked to an resolution manager and he even tried to get me from canceling my policy, but he finally realized it was not gonna happen after I told him my experience with them. Latest issue of many, the garage door spring broke, looked at the contract they literally dont cover anything if the garage door breaks except the motor. The tech said they might have fried the dampers on my AC when changing the zone board and guess what, the home warranty doesn't cover the dampers. When talking to them, they said to go after the technician but they sent the tech and feel they are not responsible for them. Too many negatives to go into but after waiting 2 months (& waiting for parts) the tech repaired the leak but noticed the problem may have come from a cracked inside liner. At this point he took photos as did I. After phone calls to Choice asking what are they going to do about this (this would likely mean replacing the fridge), they said they would email the tech for more info. I called again & they said they didn't have enough info. (They had enough!) I called numerous times with agents not listening nor trying to understand the problem. The repair was completed but there was a liner crack. I had one guy tell me they "never heard from me" since October so claim was closed. What! The tech repaired on that claim & that's when he found the cracked liner. He wasn't even trying to listen. I called again & a lady (I've talked to more than once) said I would have to pay another $75 for them to come out "again"! because the claim was closed (even though the crack was found on the initial call!) What choice did I have? So I risked paying $75 AGAIN (even though we already knew what was wrong from initial call) I was hoping they'd do the right thing & replace the fridge. Well I got an email stating they're denying this claim because it isn't normal wear & tear! What! It is on the INSIDE of fridge! You have to remove the inside panel (which is in perfect condition) to get to it! I am disgusted with their service, inability to communicate, lack of logic and their automatic denial when it is obvious it should be covered. They're going against their own policy agreement. I have choice and their company is horrible. I had my water heater start leaking (basically needs replacement), and they approved the warranty. They stated I had to pay an additional $775 to the plumbing company. When I talked to the plumbing company, they stated they are charging for a pan, connect copper pressure valve, add a new pressure relief valve and water pan pvc. All supplies are less than $100. So I asked the plumbing company why are they charging $675 for labor? They stated they keep a small portion and send the rest to Choice home warranty. I am a contractor and I know pricing and this is ridiculous. We pay monthly for a home warranty and then basically have to pay for a new water heater and install. A new water heater is between $494 and $600 depending on make, gallon capacity, electric, or gas. If anyone has had this happen, and has been on choice home warranty for years, we are getting ripped off. I am taking this to the attorney general and I am also talking with attorneys about a lawsuit. A class action maybe warranted. If the plumbing company is lying, then the have some culpability. Also, dealing with them with an A/C issue in Arizona is a bunch of B.S. They wanted me to wait two weeks in 115 degree weather just to send a service tech out. My A/C died due to age, and they would not rep,lace it because I had to wait to get a replacement approved. That would take a month with the service call in 115 degree weather. I have cancelled my policy and I am taking appropriate measures to get this resolved so consumers do not have to deal with this. Imagine if I was 80 years of age and did not have A/C in Arizona. I had a part break in my furnace and because the term "break" was used in the contractors report Choice stated a "break" is not covered. What is the purpose of a home warranty if items that "break" are not covered. What a racket. I went through the appeal process and as you'd expect they weren't paying. I immediately cancelled my policy, which by contract was allowed to do, and will be issued a prorated refund. Money that I'll have to use to pay out of pocket for my furnace repair. Let me add to the chorus of people scammed by this Company (and Sears Service). Compressor on my refrigerator went. When this policy was "sold" to me by a rep, it was we'll have someone out to fix it in 24 hours and if we can't fix it in a reasonable time frame, we'll replace it. At first it seemed to be working. Tech comes out within 48 hours. Says yes it's the compressor, but they need to order the part. Makes sense, though I would think a reputable 'service' company would have some inventory on hand even though I submitted the issue a few days prior. Leaves saying probably be back next week. No further contact, though I get a bill for $500 bucks for "parts not covered" with zero explanation. I get the run around by someone at Choice, but they basically blame the rep THEY SENT OUT TO ME. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY. Apparently somehow the parts are shipped to me, not the service company? So now I'm micro managing this process and the rep at Choice Home Warranty - Shamika R - is another obstacle. Everything is at their discretion. I ask to speak to a manager, "they don't speak with customers". Turns out a week later some of the parts haven't even shipped yet! So I ask, do you care that the Vendors you use are so irresponsible and have such an unreliable supply chain? "Not our problem". I've had Choice Home Warranty for a year and just recently tried to use their service for my electric cooktop, one burner not working. Service rep came out diagnosed the problem as a bad switch. He told me he placed order for the part and scheduled time to comeback in 5 days to complete the repair..... Several weeks went by no one called or came by so I called to see why and I was informed they needed to order the part, again they said when part comes in they will schedule a time to come out and repair my cooktop. Another month has gone by and still no word or any contact from Choice other than drafting my account for 2 monthly payments.... When our contract expires, we are done! Signed up and used one time and was given bad information by TWO reps and now have to pay full bill because they obviously don't know what they're doing. They act like they "told" me I needed to get preapproval before doing the work and that I just took it upon myself to do have the work done and expect reimbursement. TWO reps never mentioned me getting pre-approval. They stated if Choice couldn't locate a vendor within 24 hours then I could find my own vendor, have them do the work and submit invoice for reimbursement. NEVER ONCE did they mention I had to get pre-approval first. Now Chantel in customer service, has an attitude and telling me regardless of what happened, invoice will not be reimbursed.
