Visited the post office today to pay 8 bags of 5p coins into my account, all bagged correctly. I…read morequeued for around 10 minutes to be served to be told by the lady working there that I couldn't pay it in as she had "already done her coins". This was at 5pm. Not a very good service for those who work and wish to use the post office after work. Fair enough if that is their policy, but maybe have a notice up letting people know so they don't queue unnecessarily.

There are multiple Post Office counters and a small newsagents section selling slightly overpriced drinks. The services offered by this branch are typical to what you'd expect to find in a Post Office, the opening hours are OK, it would be nice to see Sunday openings with the opening hours being the pretty generic 9 am to 5:30 pm, closing half an hour earlier on Saturday's. 3* - Pretty much an average Post Office, there were no self-serve postage machines which I do prefer as it often saves time waiting, there could easily be room to add them in the future and I hope they do.

What can you say about the service? Well how about up and down. There are those days when the queue is as far as the door and the odd days I t take the long winding trip through the empty barriers to the cashier. Do I mind that trip,? NO I just feel like jumping in the air and clicking my heels. Ohhhh how I hate it on the days everyone in the queue seems to be holding a form for car tax or thats what I have always thought it was. They get to the counter and then proceed to fill it in. Worst when it's staff lunch hour and cashiers go down to two. The Post Office used to sell lotsof bits and bobs, that seems to have gone and we are down to just the usual post items. It did give you something to look at or grab as you trundled along the queue. But at the end of the day, it's our good old Post Office. always been there and hopefully always will be. Not the most elegant one, not the quickest, It's friendly and does the job. Stands there like a rock of which I imaginee it is to alot of people. So now ,, I was actually going to give it Four stars but going to go back up the page and give it Five. Wigan Post Office is now located inside WHSmith on Standishgate in the town centre, now I usually…read morehate Post Offices which are located inside WHSmith stores which are becoming more and more common now, but this one was a rare example of it done reasonably well. The staff seemed friendly and happy to help, possibly down to how quiet it was due to the UK lockdown, but I still had to return something so visited here. The self-service machines are quick and easy to use, although the prospective screens between them could have been managed better, it gives very little room to balance parcels and then actually use the machine, adding more space between the two machines would have been a better idea if they are trying to become more COVID secure. I would have thought that given WHSmith is open until 5:30 on Saturday's, it would give a chance for the Post Office to open later but it doesn't... I find closing at 12:30 pm to be far too early. They are also closed on a Sunday, but this is pretty common. The overall area was spacious, clean and rather nice for a Post Office inside a WHSmith, but still it could be better. 3*

Does what it says on the tin really doesn't it?…read more I'll be fair, it's a well set up office and each postcode has it's own spot when you come to pick up a package. I have quite a lot of stuff sent over from the US and it often means I have to pay some sort of customs charge and have to pick it up from the delivery office, so I'm here a fair bit, but the longest I've had to wait is no more than 2/3 minutes - which I can imagine wouldn't be the case for some busier towns/cities. Not much else to say other than a well organised and ran place.

I really dont understand why some people choose a job where they deal with the public when they…read moreclearly do not like other human beings, i live locally and over a few years now i have used this post office for various things to be greeted by the same rude, ignorant, misereable woman who makes you feel like your are putting her under great strain to do even the simplest of things. Today i took in 5 parcels, one of which was was a parcelforce 48hr i had prepaid for them all online and i asked her what i needed to do she shrugged and grunted to leave them in the corner, i offered her the paperwork and said i had not done this before, she said she didnt need the paperwork and i left, i have since discovered she should of scanned the barcode and given me a receipt which i need for the insurance, when i now try and track the parcel its no where in the system as she has not done her job properly, and this package was a childs present to be delivered by Thurs which will now not happen all because this lady simply cant be bothered. I shall not be using this post office ever again and i know that a lot of others from the village also feel the same. i feel sorry for her husband who sometimes works there he is a nervous wreck, i wonder why?

A very convenient local Post Office -- there aren't many of them left! It's situated in a largely…read moreresidential area away from too many other shops. There's no car-park -- you have to park on the road outside -- but the road is quite wide so that's not too much of a problem, and at least you can get quite close. The service always seems to be friendly and efficient, even when there are queues -- which can happen here as it gets surprisingly busy at peak times. All in all, an excellent sub Post Office -- long may it stay!

Places like this make you appreciate the added value of a small local place rather than the big impersonal giants that have flooded every other market. I just wish the post office would expand the services it offers to make these places more viable - eg the facility to pay cheques in would be great.
