Found this place while walking around trying to find a place for lunch, and noticed the line almost…read moreoutside the door. My curiosity got the best of me, and I had to stop and try what was obviously a local favorite lunch time spot. The space inside is tiny, and with all the bodies, it wasn't clear for a newbie what the typical protocol here was, and thus felt a bit chaotic. Sit down in the small tea room area, or wait in line and order something pre-made from behind the glass case. Now that I have experienced the different options available, I think my second visit will be much more enjoyable. Also, it wasn't clearly noted what the different sandwich or salad choices were, or how much they cost. Your options are: 1.Sit down first and wait to be handed a special menu with items not located behind the glass case (salads/Croque Madame/Croque Monsieur/beverages). Downside is that it could take a bit to get the menu as this place is busy and there are only 3 people serving/working behind the glass case. Also, the menu DOES NOT include items behind the glass case. There is a list on a small chalkboard on the far end wall of the tea room noting their special salads of the day. 2.Stand in line and order something from behind the glass case and mention you are eating there. There are no signs noting this, but if you are eating there they can include a fresh petite side salad to go with your sandwich or quiche. If you do this, I would probably first grab a table as it might not be free by the time you get out of the line. 3.Stand in line and order something to take away. I chose option 2, and had an amazing salmon vegetable quiche, w/ a carrot side salad. I followed that up with an espresso (NOT NESPRESSO - Bonus!), and their house specialty apple tarte. Everything was fresh and delicious. I definitely would like to go back, as the salads looked amazing, and those seemed to be the popular option as most people seemed to be getting them. TIP: By 12:20 when I arrived, the glass case was already half empty. If you want a good selection to choose from arrive a bit early. Between 12:20 and 1pm, there was constant line of people. Experience would have been even better if things were just a bit more organized and laid out better.

I love just how many flavors there were to choose from besides the typical fruits that everywhere else offers. And the macarons themselves are delicious! I normally don't have much of a sweet tooth but I thought these were great. And my friend went through 6 in one sitting!

Laduree in Cours de Rive is the Geneva branch of the famous French store. The boxes come in units of 8, 12, 15 and so forth, with the 8 piece starting at I believe CHF19.20. The gift boxes cost a little more, and I got an 8 piece for around CHF25. Wanting to cleanse my palette of the McCafe macaron experience, i also decided to purchase a single salted caramel macaron for myself, but the lady behind the counter kindly offered it for free. Which really was kind of her, considering that each of those little things cost CHF2.40. Verdict: macarons are hugely overrated. Clearly, my Laduree macaron was exponentially more delicious than my McCafe one. And considering the McCafe macaron was also CHF1.90, Laduree's price isn't per se unreasonable. Nonetheless, CHF2.40 for a little cake sandwich roughly 1 inch in diameter? I can think of plenty other places where I can better expend my sugar intake.
