I called and spoke with Monica months ago to schedule an appointment with Dr. Nikhar. Guess what? When we arrived for our appointment with Dr. Nikhar we had an appointment with an NP who was very good. She told us we NEVER had an appointment with him, we had an appointment with her. I gave them my new insurance card that has the same member ID as the old one but a different group number than my old card. After my appointment, I noticed that my bill was pretty high and saw I was charged $176 without my consent. This seemed really odd and I called my insurance. I found out they used my old insurance information from my older plan that is no longer active. That's why I owed the full amount. I called their billing department and gave them my new insurance information so they could resubmit with my new insurance information. They said this could take a month or two to process. We're getting close to two months and I have yet to get reimbursed the $176. I was recently told by one of the billing people that one of my claims is in appeal and may not get approved which means I may have to pay the full amount. I told them this was unacceptable given this wasn't my mistake but theirs. This whole thing is stressful and should have never happened. The front desk people need better training because this was a super careless mistake. I'm dealing with so many health issues I really don't need to worry about something else. I get the sense they're short staffed and need to hire more people. I switched to Capital Neurology and Sleep Medicine. My experience here has been a lot better. The front desk people have done ok and my new doctor explains things in detail, is kind and friendly.

I met Dr. Kwon in the foyer of my condo complex and found out that we had the same last names and that he was a general practitioner. Looking for a doctor, I quickly made an appointment and jetted off to Silver Spring. Dr. Kwon's office was clean and quaint - lots of little old Korean ladies who hadn't quite caught on to the English craze here in America - but hey, it's a niche market and you have to cater to the customer if you're going to survive. Very friendly, gets back to you quickly, and doesn't talk down to you when you ask a question. I have kept him on (even though I've been using the VA medical center lately too) as my doc and will continue to go to him in the future.

Obviously he is very good and has many years of experience. He did an Ultrasound and two biopsies to decide for the best procedure. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything with patience the entire time. It is hard to understand all these medical terms but he had patience and made me feel as comfortable as I could feel. The first biopsy was pretty painless and over fast. The second one needed more specimen for a special DNA test and was a bit more uncomfortable but still totally fine. After results came back 60% probability for cancer he suggested to get only half of the thyroid removed. He also gave me the option to remove the whole thing because a lot of people choose that for peace of mind. I chose to remove half. My procedure was done at the Massachusetts Ave Surgery Center On surgery day he came to talk to me before the procedure. Explaining what's going to happen. He is so calm and professional it makes you feel better. Surgery went great. I woke up sore to swallow but ok. The first 3 days of recovery were sore and than pretty good after that. So I'd recommend to take 3-4 days off of work. The incision is healing up nice after a week and a half. It looks like the incision is going to be pretty nice and clean. I got stitches from this inside so no stitches scars to come. Yay Thank you Dr.Goicochea for taking care of me. I will recommend him to anyone that has to deal with Thyroid issues

My first…read moremeeting was informative, I did not realize the severity of my situation but he advised me to get specific testing so he would know to proceed with surgery. After results came back, we scheduled surgery within 2 weeks and I was TERRIFIED however many of the nurses at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital let me know they have never seen incisions as clean and virtually unnoticeable as his. The surgery went very well, lasted about 3 hours (I was slightly a special case) I barely had a sore throat and resumed normal life the day after. His bedside manner is awesome and he definitely put me at ease as this was my first surgery. He has also worked on close family friends of mine and they all say the same of Dr. Goicochea! Highly trained, knowledgeable and professional.
