Saw the doctor and he recommend for us to go to Sentera Albemarle Medical Center located at 1144 North Road Street, Elizabeth City for a CT. We arrived at the Medical Center at 3:30 pm. We went to the desk and got registered then to a seat to wait. People came in saw the doctor and left. We waited for five hours. Finally I asked them when we were going to be seen. The nurse assured us we were next. More people came in to be seen and treated and left. We sat and waited. People asked us how long we had been waiting and then left to get care somewhere else. All the people that were still waiting were older white people...Just saying....We finally got called back and showed the doctor the orders from Nextcare for a catscan. We waited four more hours for that. Finally got the catscan then we waited two more hours to have it read. We finally got discharged at three thirty am. We have good insurance so that should not be a problem. Or is it? I sure hope that the new hospital will do better. SMH

As with any non-urgent walk-in ER visit, there is a lot of time waiting to go from task A to task B, etc. Once I was taken to the exam area, the nurses and doctors did well in addressing my situation. While there was more waiting time, they did a good job of checking in on me and giving a good assessment of my injuries. I also appreciate the follow-up phone call a couple of days later.

The first time wasn't the best and I felt he waited way to long for a child who couldn't breath. BUT the other day I went back because he was in severe distress and was so bad he couldn't talk because he was catching his breath! I have to say the staff on that day was great! I wanted to thank the doctor, nurse, tech, and respiratory specialists! Thank you and thank GOD it all worked out and he's doing much better now! Anesthesioloist thorough and knowledgeable. Surgery went well. Regardless, I was very anxious and in alotta pain. As predicted, two days in recovery/stabilization. I am/was an easy patient with no major complications. Regardless, excellent staff, attentive, caring, pleasant to me and my visitors. Shout out to Elizabeth and James, the head nurses on day and night shifts in the 6th floor ortho wing. Release evaluations were complete and focused. My nurse, Beth, was absolutely amazing. You can tell she was born to help people. She was empathetic, caring, and listened to all my concerns. Dr. Schuster was just wonderful and kind. She and her team went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help me get the answers I needed. When you go to any doctor's office, these are the kind of people you hope to see every time. Next day temp spiked to 106 so he returned to ER. Blood work revealed WBC of 17,000. Gave him iv antibiotics and called in a prescription. They ruled out a UTI but did no imaging to find source of obvious infection. While everyone was very nice I don't feel they were very thorough

Mom was extremely difficult to handle but they treated her quickly and compassionately. (Had originally gone to Hospital ER with Mom, waited in room 3.5 hours and never saw doc so Mom walked out). I was so impressed with Amanda at urgent Care when we moved here she became my husband and my provider. (No physician anywhere in OBX was accepting new patients). Anyway, I have had only positive experiences here and as a retired RN, feel confident in the staff.
