To think I was 24 and the burden was on me to choose, organize, coordinate, hire and make all the decisions. Dixon-Garland made the process very smooth. I chose Dixon-Garland after meeting and talking with all funeral homes in Markham. ALL of them, yes. My intuition told me it was Dixon-Garland who will create the most beautiful funeral. Beautiful it was, and more. Many funeral homes provide the service "as is" meaning you don't/won't need to adjust. You hire them and they perform, very easy and mindless. Markham has many funeral homes for the Chinese and will follow traditions, which is always a nice touch. Okay so, long story short, I broke a few funeral traditions and Chinese whatever. I also didn't like that I was directed immediately to a Chinese rep when they find out I am Chinese (over the phone and in-person). Dixon-Garland acted the opposite. They treated me with respect regardless of how childish/young I seem. And I love them for it. Also I was in charge and not my relatives, thank goodness. Dixon-Garland was the most accommodating and the most approachable. On the day of the funeral, the staff were patient with my demanding relatives. Patience doesn't even describe their professionalism. They are the nicest people I met EVER and very calm. They are easy to work with, very responsive, and they are magnificent. This was not the day I want to deal with drama. I thought a funeral is just a funeral but after seeing what they did, it was honestly a perfect ending. It's thanks to Dixon-Garland (and St. Patrick Parish) that life became sweet. Besides, a funeral isn't for my mother as everyone would like to think. It's for my dad. Also selfishly the funeral was for me. We are the people who continue to live on and carry something called "memories."

Beware of prepaying your funeral as you can see by this it is to the benefit of the Funeral Home.
