NCCL teachers are so loving and nurturing to our children and supportive to parents as well. I'm so…read moregrateful they are a part of our families' lives and a role model of compassion and positivity. Before we even had children, we knew we wanted a creative and compassionate environment for our children as they grew up. A place where their self-esteem and self-efficacy would bloom. We've found that and more at NCCL. It is such a wonderful community, and we are so appreciative to be a part of it! I do not know the specifics of the negative review below, but the school is small (10 kids per grade level) and does not have the resources of larger schools. I can only speculate that would be why outside help was encouraged for any behavioral issues.

I attended NCCL school from kindergarten to eighth grade, and I consider myself extremely lucky to…read morehave had that opportunity. The learning is fun, interactive, and centered around the abilities of the students, and the hands-on methods of teaching allowed me to understand and apply concepts to real-life situations. I never had to ask myself "Why does this matter?" The teachers there were/are like parents to me, and I knew that I could always come to them with any struggles I might be having, emotionally or academically. The environment is safe and nonjudgemental; my NCCL family has truly shaped me as a person. Although I have had struggles with anxiety since an early age, the staff has always cared for and supported me in even my loftiest goals. When I was in eighth grade, I told my writing teacher, Kate, that I wanted to write a novel by the end of the year, and with her help and constant reinforcement, I completed it. Now, I am an English major with a Writing Concentration at Gettysburg College (minors in Literature and Studio Art). I had a 4.5 GPA throughout high school, and I now have a 4.2 GPA in college. I am a published author, journalist, and artist, as well as the editor for our on-campus literary and art magazine. None of this would have been possible without the support and aid of the teachers at NCCL, who encouraged me to think deeply, and pursue my interests doggedly. NCCL is the most accepting community that I have ever had the privilege of entering, and the staff works hard to accommodate students and families. They have plentiful compassion and experience when it comes to working with children with learning disabilities, and the environment of the school itself is welcoming and supportive to all. This school is a family, and I was so lucky to be a part of it. I will be forever grateful for my time at NCCL.

If you have a child with any type of learning disability or a child with an established IEP,…read more Tender Loving Kare is NOT the place for your child. Their instructors are not equipped to deal with any child other than perfect children. Their instructors fail to follow simple instructions from parents regarding their children. They have you pay for field trips at the beginning of the summer and then demand chaperones for the "difficult" children, not caring if parents and grandparents work! With the amount of money they bring in every week, they can afford to hire instructors that have experience in dealing with children with learning disabilities and not just teenagers fresh out of high school and college with a basic certificate in early childhood education! Shame on TLK for shaming working parents of kids who have established IEPs that tell you how things work best for that child, they don't even read them! Shame on TLK for their lack of communication between their instructors and administration! I used to rave about TLK, not anymore, i will tell anyone who will listen about how uncompassionate, inconsiderate and overpriced they are!

At first my son loved going so much that I couldn't even get a hug before he ran off to play. Not…read morelong after, he stopped being engaged and would stay to himself and eventually began trying to run out of the building when I'd drop him off. The director's foster son terrorized my son and all of the other kids, I witnessed it with my own eyes. My son was afraid to speak up and the director always acted clueless, yet my son would end up with lumps on his forehead and deep scratches from her foster kid and another taller boy. My son became angry and defiant and he literally hasn't been the same since he attended Kiddie Academy. They let the kids do whatever they wanted to him and when he'd retaliate he was the one who was written up. Finally stood up to the director's foster son and he was kicked out for it. There were also older boys (3rd/5th grade) who were mixed in with the kindergarten class. They older boys would instruct my son to say and do terrible things, and he'd be written up as if it was his idea. My son might not ever be the same after dealing with all of that on a daily basis and I wish I had never placed him there, I feel so guilty about it. He didn't begin speaking up until after I stopped taking him. He wouldn't even speak up because no one ever had his back. If you have a child of color, they will be seen as the aggressor and not the victim. My son was definitely a victim and it changed his entire personality. The director is the problem for allowing her foster son to behave the way he did. He wasn't suspended like the rest of the kids, he did whatever he wanted. A Very dangerous little boy. Name begins with a "B" so listen to your kids and watch out for that one.
