Horrible place. Went to see a friend there in short term. Disgusting flies in her room. The stench of urine hits you in the hallways. They have a recliner in the room but slap them in a wheel chair instead. Call button was not in reach. My dog was in a better place when he was sick. I was transferred to Christian Healthcare from the hospital, bedridden and unable to walk. During my first day, immediately after breakfast, an occupational therapist arrived at my bedside and coached me out of bed and on to a walker. She gave me very specific instructions on how to put on my pants and shirt and stand for the first time in almost five weeks. I was in discomfort, but she guided me, and we began my first journey via wheelchair to the state of the art and airy well-lit gym. This care, compassion and physical guidance continued for my two weeks stay from both the occupational and physical therapists. By my second week I was navigating the facility, coached on stair climbing, dressing, performing household duties from dishwashing to emptying the washing machine and navigating safely the simulated apartment in the facility. Physical therapy everyday coached with a series of exercises that increased my strength leading to greater mobility. Each day I felt more confident and comfortable with my physical mobility challenges and by the end of my second week was moving around with just the aid of a cane. This team of PT professionals all had an expertise that led to my ability to return to my home. In addition, I cannot speak highly enough of the bedside healthcare professionals from nurses, to on site doctors and nurses' aides. Every component of this team made sure I was administered my medication in a timely manner, fed three excellent meals per day and was washed and cleaned each morning with fresh linens on my bed. As a patient I thank the entire staff for their well-coordinated effort, as I now navigate the continuous recovery process with a visiting home healthcare team. read more

I am re-posting my sister's review about the care our father received: I wish I could give this absolutely disgusting, horrible, and evil place negative stars. My father went in for rehab with a fractured spine due to bone cancer and he fell out of bed ON THE FIRST NIGHT because of SHEER NEGLECT that they did not lower his bed or put an alarm on him that they promised they would. He laid on the floor for over an hour until his roommate that was bed ridden actually crawled to the hall for help. I witnessed his nurses overdose him on morphine- when I asked "I'm sorry how much did you give him?" They actually said "oh yes- that was more than he should have had- it'll be fine he will just sleep" - he missed his therapies that day and went downhill after. The CNAs yanked him around on the bed as they changed him and laughed at him while he was in the hoyer lift screaming in pain saying "he's hanging in there" when I yelled into the room to ask how he is doing. My family had no faith in his doctors as we were more educated regarding his condition and medications. My dad had a stroke here and they did NOT notify us. We only found out when he was later admitted to valley. They gave him so much medication that he went into respiratory failure. My sister witnessed them wheel him out to the ambulance completely unconscious. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT send your loved ones here unless you want the worst to happen. I truly believe we would have had more time with him if it weren't for the awful care that experienced. read more

Disgustingly rude staff. I hope everyone who has left bad reviews reports them to the Division of Consumer Affairs. All Nurses on staff refuse to give information to next of kin. My Mother is given medication she doesn't want to take and they refuse to give me any info. I'm her daughter and her health directive. I had to call Wyckoff Police to check on her. I am going to report them to the highest board. They are breaking the law and should be shut down! read more

Wow, I wish I had seen these other reviews before sending my mother here. Her (our) experiences were a nightmare - with the list of grievances almost too long to list. She went to CHCC following a bout with pneumonia. We selected CHCC because I live in Wyckoff, it was convenient and we thought it had a decent reputation. What a mistake. The aides and nurses don't work together and have a very "not my area" lack of responsibility. My mom was in the rehab center for over a week before she received her first shower. The bogus explanation was she was a two person assist and couldn't be put into the shower - really? She had been in a prior rehab center, we have seen the shower seats and the lifts used for immobile patients. The bottom line was understaffing of the aides and laziness on the part of staff. There is also a lack of accountability and lack of oversight by administration. My mother was finally given a shower and had her hair washed after my insistence to speak to the head nurse and whomever ran the facility. Even after complaining many of the same problems continued. She wasn't washed again for another week after the first complaint. My mom is immobile and incontinent. She too had issues with infrequent changing and dirty diapers. I had taken mom for a wheelchair ride one day and she told me she needed to go to the bathroom. We went back to the room, and I rang the call button. When the aide came in, she told me mom required two people to get her on the toilet so I should just let her dirty the diaper and then she would change it - is this someone's perverse definition of patient dignity? She's also been prone to urinary infections so we are careful to make sure she isn't sitting in a wet diaper. We were told, when we asked about frequency of changing, they have super absorbent diapers so we shouldn't worry. How about just changing her more frequently? Why was that not an option? Then there was the day my mother spilled water at lunch all over her floor - again we called the call button. First we were told maintenance was out of lunch and they would come later. Four hours and 5 or 6 calls later, the water was still there. It was not cleaned up until one nurse saw I was about to lose it - and she brought towels and cleaned it up herself. I regret I didn't take her name as she was the only person we encountered who acted like they cared. The food can be ok but only if you carefully select from the menu - if you leave it up to regular choices, beware. We mistakenly ordered a tuna sandwich one day - it was disgusting. There were two pieces of white bread, a smear of tuna fish that was thinner than the amount of butter most people put on toast and that was it - no lettuce, no tomato, nothing nutritious about it. Their idea of a good diet is interesting - again if you order a protein, a salad and some vegetables you have a chance at a decent meal, but beware if you aren't diligent about your loved ones food. My mother's roommate had to eat sandwiches because of an injury, she told her daughter one day she would rather not eat than to eat another one of those sandwiches. Bottom line - if my mother needs to go to rehab again, I can tell you where we won't go. read more

This is one of the worst facilities to put your loved ones in! We paid $660 a day for the worst possible care for my 86 year old father. We were only allowed to visit through the window (due to Covid) once a week!! The one time we could see him, he was unkempt, his nails had not been trimmed, he had scratches and bruises which no one told us how they got there. We took him right out of there as soon as we could. He kept telling us how bad it was but we thought he was just trying to leave the place. It turns out, he was right!! Low quality staff, horrible nurses lacking in compassion for the elderly!! What do you expect for $660 a day right?? What a joke!! Don't send your loved ones here, anywhere but here!! CHCC is a lovely facility., aesthetically. There are several beautiful areas for the residents to gather. Cleanliness is adequate. The care in the rehab building is adequate for anyone that can get around easily on their own, but we found it to be a bit under par for my 91 yo mother in law that needed to rely on the staff to meet all of her needs- bathe, dress, feed, toilet. The nurses and nurses aides are caring but the response time to an elderly residents needs could be better. read more

My mom was a patient there in August 2015, the long term side is a nightmare. The aides and nursing staff should be ashamed of themselves. The administrative staff is just as bad. They lie to your face as if everyone is stupid. Yes its clean and well maintained, they should have the maintenance staff care for patients they would do a better job. My mom was mobile and everyone knew this, everyone that includes administrative, nursing and aides. My mom was ill with very advanced heart issues and was nearing end of life. She was supposed to be there for a short period to get her regulated on her medication. Again, everyone knew she was very able to walk. She was there from around the end of July until the early morning of August 5th when I received a call during the night that she fell. She fell because they never alarmed the bed and they didn't know she was up and moving around her room unattended. They described her injury as a cut to her leg. I meet the ambulance at the hospital she has a bandage to her head, her arm, her finger and her leg. That cut, received 23 stitches to close, a knee replacement surgery looked better. Her head, arm and finger needed to be glued closed because of the thinness of her skin. When we returned to CCHC we were told three different stories of how it happened. Never an apology, never a call after we removed her back to hospital on the 8th and never a sympathy note when she died less than two weeks later. It did take them 60 days and numerous calls to refund my deposit that they demand up front. There are more horrors that occurred but I totally agree with the other reviews that this place is the worst. The aides are lazy and the administrative and nursing staff covers for their laziness. I spent 10 to 12 hours a day (everyday) there taking care of my mom, they only had to take care of her when I left and they could not do that. One interesting note when I was at Valley Hospital watching my mom slowing dying, I met a lady who was there with her uncle who broke his hip at CCHC that same week. Again he was mobile and they didn't do their job alarming the bed. I assume they don't alarm the bed because they don't want to be bothered. I hope everyone who reads this and is thinking about placing their loved one there, chooses another place. I would never place anyone I know in this place. An elderly or ill loved one deserves to be treated better. Please find another place and while you are looking around see how the aides interact with the patients, if they are not interacting find another place. read more

It's a nice looking campus. They would not answer the call light after bedtime. Mom was in for 3 days and this resulted in was her sitting in wet diapers until morning. Daytimes were great but that's not enough. Security was extremely aggressive. Got lost first evening dropping mom off and exited through wrong door. Interrogated, demanded ID, and followed to car and waited for exit. Never bothered to use walkie talkie to verify mother was a patient. read more

Run, don't walk away from Christian Health Care Center. The Facility looks beautiful and the PT/OT is adequate, but the medical care is below par. Both of my parents were rehabbing there and both ended up back in the hospital. We almost lost them both from separate incidents. First, my Mom got sick and I could tell over the phone that she was in heart failure (from a previous illness where I have learned to recognize the symptoms) and she needed to go to the hospital. The rehab insisted it was allergies and/or a cold and waited 2 1/2 days to send her to Valley Hospital.....She spent the next 2 plus weeks in IMC with heart failure and pneumonia and will possibly never regain her strength completely. My Dad kept getting worse and worse from a leg injury with increased pain and swelling. Each time we went to ask for help, we were dissuaded from sending him to the hospital. We finally insisted and thank goodness we did. He had a serious bacterial infection which had to be surgically dealt with. The most disturbing thing is that in both circumstances, after going to the Supervisor several times, none of them ever got up to go evaluate either parent. I cannot blame the aids because they do their best under difficult circumstances. Am I wrong to expect if you question a nurse as well the nurse supervisor that the supervisor should evaluate the patient for themselves? Thank goodness for one exceptional nurse who works only one day per week at Christian Health. She was the ONLY person who noticed that something was wrong with my Dad and helped push the supervisors to get my Dad to the hospital. Even after she went to the supervisor, they tried to tell us it could wait until Monday. If you are in good health and need a rehab from a knee or hip replacement, you can do fine at Christian Health. But if you looking for a rehab for your elderly parents, look beyond the beautiful building and gym facilities. read more

There are many caring staff in all departments who are compassionate, kind and dedicated to the residents they care for. They implemented measures to keep the residents and staff safe from Covid exposure. It is a great community and has a family like atmosphere. read more

There should be an option for zero stars. The level of incompetence at this place is disgusting, and it is a disgrace to the healthcare community. They were not organized or decent enough to pick up the phone and call my family to tell us my grandpa had passed away, instead having us wait 2 hours at Valley Hospital expecting him to arrive while he had already passed an hour beforehand. We could have been there by his bedside, instead we relied on the unqualified idiots at Christian Healthcare who told us he was alive and on his way to Valley. This is a great place if you are trying to kill your nasty mother-in-law. They lie to you about the nurse to patient ratio. The one medical doctor and "staff" psychiatrist will never be available. Expect to have your bed ridden mother-in-law sit in a dirty diaper for a minimum of 2 hours after ringing for the nurse for several times. Best of luck of luck killing her off slowly read more

I called for an appointment after researching for a Christian healthcare facility. Nice young lady Heather and I talked about what I was looking for. A Christian therapist and female. She stated yes I have someone for you but she's booked out a few weeks and I was ok with that. I have a therapist but I need someone that I could gel with so this is where I ended up. She sent the paperwork after taking my insurance because that would Be verified before the paper work was sent. After a couple days of no response after calling several times I called and asked for a manager. Then I got a call from Heather stating the it's just really busy and she WOULD CHECK my insurance and call me back. Then I got a call from Jill with whom I've never spoke with. She went on to tell me they don't have Christian therapist or nor do they do therapy sessions. Again I've never spoke to Jill EVER. But she stated what she thinks would good for me is to see the psychiatrist name Gefter. During my research while checking out the facility I said to myself I hope I don't get him for my psychiatrist. But this is who she thought would be a good fit for me. The next day I contacted the facility and confirmed with several people that they do indeed do therapy sessions and have several Christian therapist. I then called and left a message for the director I believe he is. Bart, we'll Bart called me back and in all of 2 seconds diagnosed me. I thought this is strange behavior for a facility and a CHRISTIAN facility. I have a pending court case and i sought counseling for my own benefit. My phone and computer have been compromised and so the only thing is that the other parties attorney contacted the facility to sabotage the case. They honestly thought they would medicate me and give a nice report to sabotage the case. Listen when your are a true CHRISTIAN no one or nothing can harm you, with God before you who can be against you. God bless the staff and patients. Avoid this place, they don't know their ass from their elbow. No one communicates the same story, from what Drs tell patients, and then don't tell nurses or aids on the floor. Don't trust your loved ones to these inadequate people. Some of the staff are caring but, far too many of the upper management and staff are plain lazy. It seems they are best with patients who are quiet, old and feeble. No one with a brain or a question about their health should be under the care of this rehab. read more

My mother has been through several nursing facilities. No one wants to live in a nursing home BUT this facility restored some of her medical issues that were causing chronic discomfort. The food is tempting, there is a higher ratio of hands-on staff to patients then any of the for profit centers. Each of her "complaints/demands" are taken seriously,addressed and resolved. She is treated with dignity and kindness. It's terrible to end your life confined to a room with limited mobility but the staff at CHCC try hard to make the patients' life hold meaning. I would give it 5 stars if my mom had an aide spend a half hour a day moving outside her room. read more

If you want your loved one/family member to be neglected and physically abused then this so-called "healthcare" center is for you. Because you have very structured access in certain areas, there's no way you'd know what's going on - and, of course, the staff will deny, deny. But they are unkind to the elderly and not at all Christian. And when I happened to meet and speak to an elderly gentleman who commented that his girlfriend was currently staying at CHCC, he rolled his eyes and said they were "awful" there, treating her terribly. Unless you can observe care up close 24/7, you'd never know. But ask questions of the person staying there and believe them if they tell you they've been mistreated and report it!!!! read more

The Aides here are awful. They haven't checked on my grandmother other than to bring her food. The nurse told me she was unable to move her from a chair to her bed because my grandmother wasn't her patient. You pay for the look of the place, not the care! read more

My mom actually got worse at this place! She came here after falling and breaking her hip. When she got there she was walking with a walker and support. As the days and weeks went by she got weaker and weaker. Since this was during COVID, no one was allowed to visit her. She had 45 minutes of PT and OT(often at the same time), which means that for 23 hours a day she sat in her chair or bed with ZERO movement. She was slowly atrophying - her muscles and her mind. There was no interaction and the care was subminimal. Before she went there I asked if they could take care of her medical issues, which they assured me they could. However, the doctor came in ONCE in four weeks. He refused to talk to her nephrologist about her kidney issues, and did not address the water weight she gained in the hospital. I begged the doctor to talk to and listen to her nephrologist. She was given food she couldn't eat, since she was on a low salt diet. No one really cared about her physical or medical well being. We finally decided to bring her home, and they said she can't come home because she had gotten worse. (Exactly - how does a patient get worse in a rehab?) I brought her home, with 24 hour care. When she got home, she couldn't even lift her leg off the ground. With the right medical care, aids, and PT, she is now walking with a walker and back to being independent. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! THEY WILL NOT IMPROVE! read more

Rehab- 20 days until my mother saw a Dr. stage one bed sores evolved to stage four. Now she's on hospice. Wounds got too bad for surgery. Don't bring your loved there. (i'm forced to choose one star so I can post this but they don't even get one star) read more

Rehab PT there were great for my mom. Medical not good at all. There 3 weeks and we decided to take her to an outside Dr. He suggested an xray at the hospital so we take her and they couldn't decide if they wanted her to stay for observation. They did so we let the rehab know and she would be back. Went there later that night to get a change of clean clothes for her and her stuff was in storage. WTH? Phone charger went missing so bought her another the week before and now the new charger was missing. Suddenly after refusing to leave, it was found. Needless to say did not bring her back. Aids are downright nasty. Some were nice. Food is terrible. No communication between departments. No compassion for her situation either. Would not recommend it. read more

I've lived in Wyckoff for 45 years, and always knew about the wonderful facility that is CHCC. It has been the hallmark of care for all the years I have lived here. The therapists in the PACU gave me wonderful confidence in myself and were very aware of my strengths. They were concerned about my progress and attuned to what I needed. They made my time at CHCC so personal and so enjoyable with their attention. They became friends who took care of me. They gave me my life back! Before my knee replacement and rehab, I could not move beyond my driveway. This experience rejoined me to the community. I have the deepest admiration for CHCC. It is a known fact that the Center is a fantastic presence in our community. It is a wonderful healing center for all generations. I am so proud that CHCC's home is here in Wyckoff, and I am humbled by the care it provided to me. PS- if the other knee ever needs doing, I will be back to CHCC! read more

A fantastic healthcare system for seniors with the most compassionate care takers. A friend has also been helped by their counseling center which is staffed with wonderful social workers. Grateful to know this family of caring is in our community especially during times when we need comfort. It has been over 6 months since my father passed away while in the rehab facility at CHC. His experience was horrible and I am holding back tears as I am writing this review. I feel I let him down by letting him stay for even a short time in such an incompetent facility. I have so many issues that I can not describe them all. He was moved with a sliding board even with a bedsore. He received medication usually contraindicated for someone with kidney failure. He died alone because of poor communication. They called me at work to meet him at hospital and I got there at 10:30. After waiting at Valley hospital for over one hour I called CHC back (12:05) and asked about my dad only to be told he died at 11:35. I hope my father knows that I wish I was there to hold his hand. The ambulance drivers discovered him deceased. What took so long? read more
