She is one of the very few NP's I have spent time with who is determined to get the 'whole picture' and investigates all things client - emotional, physical, interpersonal, etc. I watch as she researches potential interactions of vitamins, supplements, and medication. She is determined to not over prescribe and maintains a professional, but friendly, demeanor & practice. My life has literally been turned around since I 'accidentally' met her - via the aforementioned 'Nicole', and continues to flourish at her new location. I highly recommend Christina Johnstone for a new twist on your anxiety riddled life - if that is what you need. An appointment with Christina is a wholistic, therapeutic, and educational experience. Stay away from the Nurse Practitioner at all costs. She should lose her license. I do not understand the other reviews, as I'm also an RN with an advanced degree. She saw my adult daughter for many years. I am continuing to learn the damage that she caused. My adult daughter became unable to function as a result of these medications. This was a highly functioning college honors graduation with a full time employment. She just wants her money so she can write prescriptions and get her patients addicted to medications like xanax and klopopin. She does not even try to properly diagnose her patients and provide them with proper care. She is a disgrace to the nursing profession. read more

I have been seeing Christina for years and I wouldn't go any place else. I have read the reviews about Nicole, and I never had a problem with her, but I could see where other people might. I was there last week and Nicole has been replaced with a new receptionist. So give Christina another try. Like I've seen on other doctors/medical reviews: this isn't a page to write about Nicole or review her. Yes, she was a part of the practice but this is Christina's review page and I cannot say enough good things about her. I have yet to read a negative review of Christina herself other than her practice is busy. Yes, the office is busy, but that is just a testament to how great Christina is. Even though they are so busy, I have never in 5 years had a problem getting worked in, or an appt at the last minute. Any doctor that is awesome frankly is going to be busy. Know that going in. My main point: Christina really cares about her patients, takes the time to actually listen and help you out. I would never see anyone else other than her. As long as I'm a NY'er and she's practicing in the city, Christina will have my business. read more

Christina is amazing -- compassionate, thoughtful, progressive...I've been a patient for years and can't say enough about how wonderful she is. However, the receptionist, Nicole, is not wonderful. She has consistently been mean, rude, unprofessional towards me and others. Just today she HUNG UP on my pharmacist. And then, later, after refusing to let me speak with Christina or Dr. Crane, she hung up on me. In my experience (5+ years), the reception staff has always been overwhelmed. However, Nicole is by far the worst they've had. Since she began, it's become nearly impossible to see Christina, get a prescription refilled, or even get a simple question answered. I wish it was just me who felt this way -- but three friends who have all seen Christina regularly have stopped seeing her since Nicole started. Her attitude, lack of compassion and gross unprofessionalism seems to undo all the good that Christina does. Avoid this practice at all costs. read more

I've been seeing Christina for about 14 years and she's worked with me through so many problems and changes in my life. It really feels like talking to a friend (but one who has a medical/psych background) who truly cares about your problems. She's worked with me through changes in medication (which can be harrowing- esp getting off things like celexa or lexapro) and has always given me excellent advice and made me feel like she cares about my issues. Christina is truly amazing. I have been seeing Christina for 10 years and would never consider going to anyone else. She has brought back my happiness that I had been missing, and I am a better person because of her. Her office is gorgeous and her staff is extremely warm and welcoming. I didn't feel like they all had my best interest at heart and that made my situation even worse. This woman needs to have her license removed. She put my son on a very heavy drug 10 years ago that I was unaware of. My son moved in with me 4 years ago, and although she never saw him, she charged him $150 dollars to continued prescribing the drugs over state lines without any evaluation.. Keep in mind, very powerful drugs, without seeing him in over 4 years. After she found out I knew about it, her so called assistant told my son that they would never see him again. That is it. We ask her for a referral in CT, but she chooses to hide. I have filed a complaint with the Dept of Consumer Protection in NY as well as writing a formal complaint to the NY State Medical Board. The horrible receptionist is gone!!! Only fair to update my review. As I said in my last review, Christina is always warm, positive, friendly, and professional. She's extremely knowledgeable and personable in a way you don't often find with health care professionals. I said all of this in my past review, but had to weigh it with the anxiety provoked by having to go through Nicole to make appointments. The current receptionists are extremely competent and polite. It's a very busy office and they work like a well-oiled machine. My only negative comment is that the extremely high volume of clients sometimes creates a longer wait to see your doctor, which can be a little inconvenient if you're on your way to work, for example. Not a huge deal, but maybe something to fine-tune. Otherwise, it's a great practice and I'm very grateful to have found a practitioner like Christina. read more

I saw Christina for a number of years for a number of reasons and found her to be personable, attentive and high caliber in most areas of practice. Sometimes she cancels at the last minute but I never really minded that. HOWEVER I recently learned from a loose-lipped friend that many of the details I shared with her during our counselling sessions she also shared with another patient. This is not only extrememly unprofessional but is against HIPA laws and she could be sued if I chose to go down that path. Warning: If you decide to go to her from a recommendation from a friend who also sees her, that this breach of confidentiality may repeat itself. Her receptionist appears very professional but I'm also not sure the extent to which she is involved in gossiping about her patients. It was upsetting and disconcerting to learn that a medical professional whom I trusted was in fact a liar and manipulator. I will never be back. read more

Christine Johnstone has been helpful - however, the receptionist was not. I was warned by a friend who referred me to Christine, even so, I was very uncomfortable. The receptionist managed to look for a way to insult every portion of our exchange. Nicole was judgmental toward me, assumed to know something of my personal background, aggressive with her speech, angry, and overtly unfriendly to every patient who walked in. Extremely unprofessional by way of looking for fault in every phone call or patient. In fact, I am writing this review right now because I am worried about having a poor exchange with her since I need to cancel my appointment. Overall, I would suggest to find another nurse practitioner because of the way Christine Johnstone's staff handles the patients. The office is very busy and hectic, but Christina is just a wonder and delight. I had an absolutely terrible doctor previously, and she's helped fix so many things. She really knows what she's doing, and is willing to talk to you and understand where you're coming from. 'Therapist' isn't in her job description, but she's still willing to let you spill a little about your personal life and alter your treatment plan depending on it. She's honest and personable and you feel a connection with her immediately. She's helped me to repair the pharmacological damage my last doctor did to me, and I am feeling better and happier than ever. read more

I can tell that Nicole definitely rubs people the wrong way, but I have no problems with her. She is always nice to me and very helpful. Nicole is overwhelmed (as many of the receptionists have been that worked in this office in the past) and she has no time for nonsense (to put it nicely). I know its a choice to act the way she does at times v.s being polite and respectful at all times no matter the circumstances- but I feel she is stressed out and stretched thin and she doesn't know any better but to demonstrate her frustrations when interacting with others. I am not saying its right but I can see why she does it- The way my relationship with nicole improved is by asking her about her day and striking up some conversation with her - she totally changes her tune when someone shows they care about her day and asks her about her. It was like a different person all together. So next time you are finding yourself frustrated with Nicole- just shoot her a dose of kindness or a funny little joke- something to take her mind off the non stop insanity at the office, and you too will see how her demeanor changes for the better going forward. As for Christina- I love her! She is so compassionate and truly cares about your well being - this practice doesn't make you feel like you are being pushed in and out quickly as if you are in a factory or something- If you need to discuss something you never feel like its imposing on her or taking up too much time - she confirms this by asking questions when you have a concern (not like my general practitioner who basically shuts me down and answers my problems by telling me its probably nothing major etc... and not really showing concern - time for a new general practitioner!) I would definitely recommend Christina Johnstone!!! read more

This place is a joke. Made an appt online, called the next day to ask a question about it, L/M on Wed, called again Thursday and L/M, called again Friday and recording said they were closed so left another message. Appt was Monday so went - leaving work an hour early to get there by my 4:30pm appt time. Receptionist says "didn't Sam call you?", I said no, don't even know who Sam is since this is my first time there. She says, "oh, nobody is here". Nobody was there??!! Not Christina Johnstone and not "Sam". Nobody ever returned my 3 phone calls either. WOW. Who wants to go to someone who treats prospective patients so disrespectfully. read more

Christina Johnstone is a very empathetic, nurturing, and knowledgeable practitioner. She is cautious in prescribing and forthright about side effects. She is easy to be open with. Unlike other psychiatrists, Christina is not a drug peddler and she does not senselessly add medications or increase dosage. I agree with the negative posts about the office management, unfortunately. I have been with Christina Johnstone through a number of changes in the office personnel and it is really disappointing to see how completely the staff differs from Christina herself. Whereas in your few minutes in Christina's office you will always feel like a human being, treated intelligently and sensitively, in her waiting room and on the phone when trying to schedule, the approach is the exact opposite. One feels like part of a cattle call and as if the very sensitive matter of mental health is entirely lost on the office staff. I am baffled as to how this can be and I so badly wish for Christina that she could get a receptionist and scheduling mechanism in place that reflects her own attitude and superior treatment of her patients. I would say if you have the constitution to make it through the phone calls, to the front door, and then through the waiting room, you will be rewarded for it but I can definitely appreciate that many a very normal person would respond to this process with extreme outrage and disgust.
