I was Dr Kozikowska patient for 16 years since 2008, in 2024 two weeks after my youngest brother passed away I went thru serious accident I fall down the stairs,lost consciousness, have a cuncosion and broken jaw I fall from 15 concrete stairs,in 2023 I was of the medication for 11 months , was taking natural remedies with Dr approval,buy always Cary with me rescue medication if anxiety comes in, after the accident I started to going back to medications in which I started to experiencing severe side effects like never before, I informed Dr kozikowska that im after cuncosion and something doesn't work wright,long story short,I asked the Dr if she ever had a patient after head injury and cuncosion,the answer was no,I have to say that Dr trying to help, respond to my phone calls for some period of time, but later I was started to hear that im calling to often,and that the phone calls needs to be limited,I was suffering so much from medications side effects and later withdrawal,I was hospitalized 5 times where they changed the medication for me,I was severely harm by that, and the day comes when Dr kozikowska said to me that I need to look for second opinion,I did what she have said,but later drop me as a patient,I think Dr should do some research how to treat medically a patient after head injury and cuncosion I was to much for the Dr leaving me with clonazepam which I was taking for many months was prescribed by the Dr, Dr kozikowska it is great Dr but for easy cases,and patients who don't need special care and attention, so after 16 years of being this Dr patient I was dropped off,without any feelings of humanity,i was crying because of this,Dr Kozikowska will not helping to come off of clonazepam cose her taper is to fast and can be harmful,the second Dr that I have seen harm me so much and gaslight me terribly,this kind of medical practice can put a patient to the severe mental crisis,I was having hope in Dr Kozikowska since she helped me for many years, but not after accident,I was treated cold on the end and that was the worst feeling after being patient for so many years... very sad. read more

This woman is an Angel on earth. After meeting w/ Dr. Ewa, I found my life completely changed and for the better. After years of struggles and lots of mis-diagnosis', I finally was placed in the care of Dr. Kozikowska, and immediately got to the root of my obstacles and started me on an intensive plan. She is a straight-shooter and doesn't mince her words, but she is one of, if not THE, most honest, empathic, and genuinely invested psychiatrists I have ever come across. More physicians and medical professionals today should aspire to be like her, as such authenticity is rarely seen in the medical field. I saw Dr. Kozikowska for close to nine years leaving only because I had to start with Medicare and she can't prescribe for people on Medicare. Dr. Kozikowska consistently provided superior care. She listened to what I was saying, asking relevant questions and wasn't multitasking or pushing an agenda. I have a highly complicated set of medical and psychological issues. She worked with me with all of this in mind. What she remembered month to month was amazing. She listens and probes exceptionally well. By far the best psychiatrist I have ever worked with, and one that is very much in sync with new research, the development of new drugs and treatment techniques. Ted, the office manager/assistant is also very much on top of things. I would give a ten out of ten with ten being the highest rating if I could. One of the first psychiatrists I've had in a while that I felt really heard by. Teddy, her receptionist was incredibly kind and easy to work with. Super patient and helpful when it came to all my questions about insurance and picking an appointment time. The office is cozy and comfortable. Dr. Kozikowaska listened to everything that was on my mind and suggested a good way to deal with it. She's very smart and knowledgeable. Dr. Kowsikowska , as I mentioned to you already, you will be part of my delayed diagnosis medical malpractice case along with Dr. Sternchos, Dr. Bellevin , Dr. Bernstein, Dr. Greenberg, Dr. Melgar etc. I showed you my systemic mastocytosis diagnosis as per Dr. Kim ent bayside of her findings in November of 2020. You preferred a yellow pill and that's deadly for systemic mastocytosis that led me to north shore er room where they denied me care. North shore hospital is being sued also. I've shopped around to find the perfect doctor for me and I felt Ewa is it. She is very understanding, logical, and sometimes she even laughs at my jokes. It makes me sad I am moving out of state and can't bring her with me. I greatly dislike her front desk man though. He seems ignorant and incompetent--no idea how to give proper customer service. On top of it all, he is constantly attempting to hustle extra money from me each time I've dealt with him. Example 1: When I first went in, he charged me $40 instead of the $20 co-pay. I questioned it at the time but he dismissed me. I had to bring in my insurance bill a month later to show him I knew he was attempting to scam me and got my money back. Example 2: When I lost my prescription slip, he told me I had to come back in, pay and do the entire appointment over again. I told him, I don't have time or the money to come back in. I did my part. Yes, I misplaced the paper, but it's not my fault they don't use an online system. Then he had the audacity to question me: How do you not have the money? It's $20! SO FUCKING RUDE. I AM A STUDENT. EITHER WAY IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. This is exactly what I told him. It didn't even seem to phase him. It's like he wasn't even listening to me. It was clearly just one more way he was trying to get more money out of me. Such a shame that Ewa is such a gem and she is paired with such a dud who makes her look terrible. read more

I went in thinking I was bipolar, but thru years-long trial & error found no mood stabilizer nor antidepressants worked for me. We tried Lamictal for a couple of yrs then it stopped working. She put me on lithium and it worked to calm my severe anxiety & depersonalization issues. But my severe depression lingered. I called her all the time, she took every call immediately. She never missed a beat. We tried all kinds of drugs to help with the depression. Nothing worked. But it took so much trial and error and she was so patient and took every crazy call I made to her. I was astounded at how responsive she was to me. When you get to know her, she laughs and jokes and is quite warm. But her nationality makes her seem cold to Americans. She is anything but cold. I feel she truly cares about me. She remembers every litte thing I've ever told her. sometimes I'm amazed at her memory! No notes! So I refer people to her and she has helped all of them. She is one of a kind I feel. Update: I am now taking something off-label for the treatment resistant form of chronic depression I have due to chronic PTSD. It is unorthodox but, amazingly, working! I've been seeing Ewa for 10y+ and finally depression-free for over a year now. Steady. I feel finally empowered to get up and get on w life w/o the nagging, constant mindset that nothing is worth trying or vying for. I feel like I felt before all that depression settled in long ago. I've gone thru hell & back in my job in the last year (literally it seems) but I don't feel defeated (at all), just interested now more than ever where my life journey is going to take me to my next career. We'll see! Here's to no longer being that Pink Floyd proverbial goldfish: the "lost soul swimming in a fish bowl year after year." Whew :) read more

Here are a few things I love about Dr Kozikowska. First and most important is her punctuality. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my appointment and would be out in half an hour. This is great! Second (just as important) she is knowledgeable but not pushy or judgmental, which is great for this type of specialty. She does come off a bit detached but I happen to like that...I have been to doctors who have been "warm and fuzzy" but lacked knowledge and didn't help me. She did. read more

I almost died and she didn't take blame for anything. She prescribed me medicine after I've never had one. I called her from the ER. She refused to talk to the doctor. So as inevitably as a northeastern grad with a masters from NYU I got stuck Ina psych ward bc of the effects of that medicine. read more

Most doctors who are specialists don't even accept insurance at all. They do, but new patients need to inquire with their insurance if she is in-network or out of network and how they'll have to file your claims. I don't think this is a big deal at all. Good luck, EP, finding a psychiatrist who accepts your insurance and doesn't ask you those book keeping questions! read more

I have been going to Dr. Ewa since 2011 for Generalized Anxiety which is completely controlled now. She and the office manager Teddy are great. They are always accomodating, and Dr. Ewa is very kind and professional. Teddy is so friendly and always has a smile on his face. It definitely has a impact on the overall experience. I have had nightmares with other doctors and am so happy to have them. Recently, she stopped accepting my insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield) but I am so happy with her that I am still going to visit her. I've recommended her to others. read more

Now that she no longer takes my insurance (united healthcare/oxford) and I had to find alternatives, I miss her very much. Her somewhat cool demeanor is actually very caring compared to many others in this area that take insurance. She remembers who you are, what's going on in your life etc. if you need to reschedule appointments, come in later or make some adjustments the office works with you and is more or less understanding even though it's clearly a pain for them. Also, after switching I looked over my statements and noticed that she charges insurance half (!) of what this other popular guy in the area does for appointments. So although with insurance you only pay copay, think it's good to know. What I don't miss, is paying everything in cash. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Kozikowska for about a year + as half......at the ripe old age of 64 I was struck down by Panic Disorder and Clinical Depression literally almost overnight ..+ for the first time in my life....Dr K was recommended to me by a patient of hers and it literally saved my life.....she is extremely thorough, really listens and is always concerned to work with you regarding various medications/treatments...Although I have not met her right hand Teddy in person, I have spoken to him many times on the phone re appointments and he is just the best.....the fact that Dr K even takes insurance is a rarity in NYC ...and even without insurance her charges are very very reasonable compared to other specialists in the city...I am extremely grateful and fortunate to have found Dr. K to help me.. read more

I don't recommend Dr K to anyone! She seems not to listen to her patients and she she is very inconsiderate and impatient. I think she only cares about the money, as she makes problems over little things and made me have an appointment several times only for a 5 min visit. My copayment is pretty high, so no wonder! I don;t have good opinions about this doctor, she just seems she doesn't care...that's all. read more
