This was my first visit, and I came in dealing with significant finger, hand, wrist, and elbow pain. Dr. Wiater was extremely attentive and took the time to truly listen to my concerns. He provided an injection, ordered a nerve study, and took me off work for a few weeks so I could properly heal. Once carpal tunnel syndrome was confirmed, he worked closely with both me and my employer to create a gradual return-to-work plan with appropriate restrictions. My pain and symptoms were never ignored. His PA, Claire, is also wonderful--compassionate, attentive, and great to work with. I am still healing from the steroid injection and will be starting physical therapy soon, but I feel confident in my care every step of the way. I highly recommend Dr. Wiater and his team. The entire staff is awesome.

My latest was to arrive - 4-5 weeks after our last appointment with a "we have to redo forms, scan insurance card, drivers license, etc as it's a new year.". Nothing has changed? "Yeah - it's our policy." Really? Policy or complete inefficiency? Inefficiency for sure. I then had to sign 3 printed sheets - (is this 2023? Or 1993?). I received a 3 page receipt which I didn't even need a printed receipt for a $15 copay. Why waste the paper and tree? Why not at least ask me if I wanted or needed? Or even better email if I need it (doubtful). Doctor experience ?- great. Office experience? - terrible.

Being as smart as I am ;-), I knew not to go to my primary physician because they would just send me to the hospital for x-rays. I also knew that if I went to a sports medicine Doctor, they would have an x-ray machine onsite and the doctors specialize in injuries such mine. After some research, and calling around a few places, the DMC Sports Medicine office was accommodating for same day service. The receptionist who answered the phone was so so nice and said she could get me into the office to see Dr. Kakos in the afternoon. As many as you have experienced, the receptionists usually think they are doing us a favor by allowing us to be seen- not a this place. Everyone, including the nurse was very pleasant and helpful. Moving on to Dr. Kakos! He was amazing! He had a great attitude, listened, and very thorough. He explained the pros and cons and how he came to his diagnosis. I am so glad I found a good Doctor that specializes in injuries related to the gym/sports.. etc etc. Also, I was very happy that I didn't wait at all.. I was in and out with a x-ray within 1 hour. If I had gone to the ER, I would have been there for 5-6 hours.

(Adding IV fluids usually helps with that.) I had Arthritis in my right knee. It is now getting worse and pretty painful. However, I'm worried about not being able to find a good Doctor to do a knee replacement. If given exercises, I could probably do the PT at home. I did that with my left shoulder replacement last year and it was a great success. Looking for someone to fit the bill.

Dr Davis said he didn't know what was wrong with my knee and just wanted to put me on pain meds. He then charged my over $500 for a 10 minute visit where he showed zero curiosity or empathy. I'm so sick of the Michigan orthopedic doctors who only want to perform expensive surgeries, then get you into expensive PT that doesn't work and when things aren't progressing put you on pain meds. I wish I'd read the money hungry reviews before signing up for $5,000 decompression therapy that is not covered by insurance and you HAVE TO PAY $5,000 UPFRONT. After two 20 minute visits, I cancelled and was charged $734 for 40 minutes of "treatment". My 1st visit to try it out, if I'd left and not signed up, I would not have been charged $369 for 20 minutes of "treatment" If I'd finished the decompression therapy (which is basically traction, now that I've had both I realize that except traction is a covered benefit with insurance) and not have had results, none of the $5,000 PAY UPFRONT would be returned. Live and learn, but as a senior citizen on a fixed income, it was extremely disappointing and surprising that I was charged for both visits, as the 1st visit was a trial. Once greeted you'll be evaluated by Ken, who I found to be informative, kind, and respectful, he wanted to hear and actually listened to my concerns regarding my pain and trouble areas. I have been to several physical therapy facilities in the past 41 year hoping to feel a little better then what brought me to a physical therapist in the first place, just to walk away after 8 visits wondering why I bothered at all. I was 22 when I was injured, a sever slip and fall. The plan was, back surgery then place me in a wheelchair. I was hoping for a better resolution, with none offered at the time (80's) I decided to do this as best as I could on my own until I wasn't able to anymore. I have had two cervical spine surgery's to cage the vertebrae in the neck one in 2010 and again in 2012. It's my belief that it was those two surgeries that kick started the many and basically useless PT secessions I've experienced in the past. I kinda gave up trying to express how I was feeling or my pain as it wasn't being addressed or I was told it's all in my head. I had a scare the end of 2024. I had to go to the ER as I couldn't even stand on my own, my back hurt so bad I thought I'd be put in that wheelchair for sure this time. The surgeon came to the hospital room to talk to me about my options, 1. Was to have back surgery the 2nd she said would be very hard at my age to do as it would require a lot of physical effort on my part and she wasn't sure I was up for the fight. Guess which option I took?? In my opinion, HealthQuest physical therapy is #1 hands down, not only will you leave there better and feeling more yourself, but the knowledge and education you receive while working your program, is priceless. I believe after all the hard work you and your HQPT therapist do to solve the reasons you initially came in for, you may find yourself needing a physical therapist less in your future due to being taught how to keep yourself Mobil with more flexibility. The folks at HealthQuest did that for me. HQPT is by far the best. I have and would recommend HealthQuest Physical Therapy to anyone in need.
