They recently represented me in a misdemeanor case in a very shoddy and unprofessional way. Not only was my lawyer almost 2 hours late the office did not bother to call and tell me that she had a case in Glendale at the same time she was supposed to be in Van Nuys. When I asked Alex at the front desk why I wasn't told he told me "Most clients call the day before. I should have called." When she did show up she also informed me she would be representing another client at the same time and since a trial was starting we had to rush through the proceedings. I was told to bring character references but because she was in such a hurry she did not get the materials from me before talking to the prosecutor. I even had to suggest a lesser charge option that she had not asked for when discussing my case. I got the same deal that the Public Defender had gotten for me before my first continuance and if I had just stayed with the PD's office I would spent 50 dollars instead of 800. This office promised to work to get the charges reduced or dismissed and they did even seem to pay lip service to my case. I had never been arrested before. Had a clean record. Good standing with the community. I admit I made a terrible error in judgement and needed legal help but in the end I made two errors. Terrible attorney. Terrible Staff. Did absolutely nothing for my case like he had promised me he would. I now have 2 hearings and I cannot get him off as my attorney. When you try to get ahold of their staff they RARELY call you back. And if you ask OZ for anything via email or fax or to cancel hearings THEY DO NOTHING. We met OZ and he was very unprofessional. This law firm has by far the worst group of lawyers I've ever met. First of all, Christopher Koch was never on time, not once, to any of the court appointments. Then, he would go into the courtroom and come out with with a sad expression acting like he did everything he could for the best verdict. HOW ABOUT YOU TRY BEING ON TIME? He even tried to push back the court appointment one time because he was running late, but still managed to be late. And to make things worse, he didn't even have time to put on his belt. His actions only lead me to think that his own life is not in order. This lawyer does not have his priorities in order and is the most unprofessional lawyer I have ever met. I understand that lawyers are busy people and have to balance many cases, but what I don't understand is why he accepted the case if he was too busy for it. It only makes me think that he did it for the money. In addition, I got the feeling that our prosecutors did not have a good impression of Attorney Koch. He even changed the judge in hopes for a better verdict, but again, no one seemed to be fond of him. Whenever he sent an associate attorney, they would beat around the bush and give me the "lawyer talk" by telling me general information about the case, but without any solidifying information on what was going on. Christopher Koch & his associates are exceptionally terrible at keeping their clients updated and prepared for upcoming court appointments. Christopher Koch's attorney services may be low, but you will honestly get what you pay for: a low-level, unprofessional "attorney". My experience is completely negative. I had submitted all paperwork associated with my case, originals per request. After over a month of not having received a text, phone call, or e-mail I called. I stated since I had received no communication I would not be using the firms services and requested return of my documents. He stated all documents were right in front of him and he would return mail next day. After another two weeks of receiving no mail his office girl called saying they had lost ALL my paperwork. This low life took my families money knowing the DA took all of our money. We had nothing and he took the last borrowed 2000.00 she had. This guy never showed up to my hearing, he gave my case to an new attorney to stand in for him 1 hour before the case with no background on how to defend me. The attorney that showed up knew nothing about my case and was not prepared to defend me. The DA had him for lunch...my stand in attorney ask me what was going on...I knew more about ADA law than my representing attorney. I had to quote him case law to try to defend me in court. The judge was not having it. My bail hearing was for 1.5 million dollars and my representing attorney "Firm" failed to represent me professionally. The stand in Attorney knew he failed and profusely apologized to my family for failing me in court and for and not doing a good job. Koch never refunded my families money or even apologized for his behavior, I later in court in cuffs told him to refund my family the money. No money and no response... I got screwed by the Justice system and Christopher Koch & Associates. My advice, run the other way. He failed me in my time of need and never gave me an explanation as to why he never showed up. This guy is disgraceful as a licensed attorney. I was facing 92 years by a corrupt Riverside DA and Detective that have an agenda against people with disabilities that stand up for their civil rights and hold those accountable for discrimination. After speaking with an attorney at Christopher Koch and associates I was reassured I was looking at a wet reckless as a worst case scenario.
