My friend was arrested for DUI, so I went with her for a legal consultation. As it turns out, they helped her win her DMV hearing, so she gets to keep her driver's license! I was in really bad shape when I got my 3rd DUI. My first step was to protect my license from the DMV case and Daniel won it, so I was able to keep my license. It was after this DUI that I had counseling and was advised I suffered from a some issues and Daniel was able to get me a plea to "Wet and Wreckless" which recommended 12 weeks of community service and a 3 month DUI classes. Had I pled guilty to the charges I was given, I would have lost my license in addition 6 months of jail time was being sought as my punishment. WARNING! Don't believe any advertisements or Utube videos by Darren Kavinoky's Law Firm. I recently retained them based on these representations and retained them on a DUI matter that took place on Halloween 2015. They misled the services as a fixed amount with all legal representation on DMV, Arraignment, Pre-trial and Trial matters, to include, Private Investigations, subpoenas to all police, lab, witnesses, documents, video/audio by law enforcement. A $6,500.00 retainer, which they eagerly took in advance. What I got for this was, an Attorney pleading Not Guilty at the scheduled arraignment, a phone call before and after the arraignment with discussion of the circumstances and charges. Any documents was emailed back and forth. Any legal questions or perpertion for the DMV hearing was untimely and my demands to issues regarding needed subpoenas were ignored. Because of my concerns going ignored or any of my complaints not dealt with appropriately or seriously with replacement of the Attorney assigned to the matter. I was forced to retain another law firm for half of the Kavinoky charged and this firm followed through immediately continuing the DMV hearing and issuing the subpoenas needed to prepare for legal representation of all issues and evidence on my behalf. I immediately requested a refund and accounting because of the lack of legal representation, but was given an accounting of charges over $ 8,000.00 with a letter stating no refund is available. Anytime you go through a situation like this, there's frustration, anxiety and a bit of panic. A friend of mine made a mistake and was apprehensive about picking the right attorney for his situation. I spoke with a paralegal named Stephen who was extremely informative. At the request of my friend who is underage, I was present. They never once promised us that they could make the situation just go away or win outright. They did however promise that they would make themselves available to us 24 hours a day and every day of the week and have kept their word. So far my friend has gone to his DMV portion and won! I did some prior research and only about 1/5 people in the state of California win the DMV portion. The DMV portion is extremely important because it determines whether or not you will have your license suspended for up to a year, and have it documented on your record for the next 10 years.
