Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church of Boca Raton was created in 1980. Land was purchased in Boca…read moreRaton and services began in 1981. The current church location was purchased in 1983 and the doors opened in 1985. For the past 37 years the church has been hosting an annual Greek festival that has been providing the community with Greek foods, rides, games, children's activities, and shopping. I was attending the festival and decided to take one of the church tours that were offered. I was so glad that I took the tour because I learned so much and was amazed at the beauty of the sanctuary. The church's patron is St. Mark who was an apostle who wrote his gospel in Greek. He preached the gospel and brought Christianity to Africa. He became a martyr in the year 68 when he was put to death for his faith. During the tour I learned a few things about the Orthodox Church. They light a candle before going into the sanctuary to pray for someone in need. Then they kiss the icons before entering the sanctuary to show respect and love. The icons themselves are not worshiped, only God is worshiped. The icons of Mary and the saints are kissed as a sign of reverence. In the sanctuary Saints and bible scenes done in gold leaf were covering the walls and ceilings. At the front of the church is a wall called the iconostasis with icons hung on it that face the congregation. Royal doors are in the middle of the iconostasis which allow you to see in the altar. Although I am not Greek Orthodox I love to visit beautiful sanctuaries and to learn how other people of faith worship. The congregation here were very welcoming and were happy to answer my questions. If you come to the festival I highly recommend a visit.

He was an excellent mayor. He is a good man a man of God so if you're looking for a good church, this would be a good fit choir sings uplifting hymns, amazing songs and it's a wonderful place to go to church and rejoice and meet people so I recommend this church to everyone whether you're visiting or coming into Florida to visit family members. ADULTERY breaks the vows that a spouse made not only to the spouse but MOST IMPORTANTLY TO GOD. People who interact with a married person have no reverence for God. People who actually go to church and have a full fledge ADULTERY despite what their feels are they are truly driving themselves towards their own choice to choose their will and not GOD'S WILL for their life. That why its important those vows are not to be taken in doublemindness of SELFISH thinking. But the Sherpard who leads needs to teach that.. AN unashamed and not caring will it hurt someone feelings but caring about EVERYONE'S ETERNITY. Lastly all SIN is an enemy of God but is one of the things that Sherpards need to expose in order for the people to get well in the church . Sexual sin ( rape, molestation, beastality, sex trafficking and same sex attraction) . Instead of Church buildings, Church anniversaries lets get contracts with the city, to partner with christian counselors all around the US. If change is to happen it starts with the church. The church is pastored by David Linden and services are held at 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM on Sundays, and Sunday school begins at 9:30 AM. I stopped by for their yard sale, which is held on the first Saturday of each month. They sell inexpensive household goods, clothing, and other donated items to raise money for their missions and church programs. Everyone volunteering was welcoming. It felt like a close knit community, and I would consider attending a service if I lived closer. Many of my best friendships have been built here (even ended up meeting my husband). Every Sunday, worship is great and the preaching is never "surface level." I am always both challenged and uplifted by pastors who love Jesus. Throughout the week, there is always (truly ALWAYS) something going on -- LifeGroups, youth groups, theology classes, marriage courses, and more. I love that there is also ministry happening here through Spanish River Counseling Center, School, and around the world through the amazing Church Planting network. Thankful to have been led to such a wonderful church that kept me anchored both throughout my college years and today!

They make you feel like if you are not apart of their church or their cliques you are an outsider. I went for two rounds of ten program or whatever you wanna call it and never made a single friend. I am VERY outgoing and thrive in social settings so I can assure you it was not me. These women are rude, cliquey, and judging at all times. I am not the first person to say this. I've made several mom friends who also gave this place a try and said the same exact thing. In fact just this week my friend walked out mid circle time because she wasn't feeling the vibe which is what prompted me to find a review page for this unfortunate mess of a support system. My friend had all the same complaints I did and I did tell her beforehand, but she really wanted to give it a chance. It's a shame because as someone who is not "religious" this is exactly why I can't get behind these programs with these churches. Not one of these women extended a heart, helping hand, or kind word once in the several months I was there. Very hypocritical and not very Godly behavior. Do better.

It has been a blessing to watch them grow in the Lord and forge relationships with others in Christ. To see a church embrace young people the way the Victory does is beautiful. I have witnessed my children and other students encourage family members and peers to attend this church. It is a blessed testimony of how God is using its Pastors and team to reach the young adult community and surrounding families. I have attended services and watched online from NY for a few years now, and love the biblically sound teaching.
