We had to come here while we were on a road trip and after my mom got bit by my aunt's dog. Let's just say that this place probably had all the people of Texarkana in the emergency room when we went, and they were some interesting people. The doctor we met was nice, but did nothing to clean out/irrigate my mom's very deep dog bite. He did correct my sub par medical patch up job (sorry, I was on a road trip trying to move my family and their angry dog so I didn't have the best first aid stuff with me), but he did zero to keep her wound from getting infected or make sure her wound was patched up. She didn't even get fresh band aids out of it. He then ordered two antibiotic shots for her, which should have been a 20-30 minute wait time, but 2 hours later, and after asking the very surly nurse two to three times about my mom's status, she finally got her shot, and then an hour later her discharge papers came through. Had I known we were going to get treated/ not treated behavior like this, I would have just had my mom wait until she got home the next day. You can definitely tell that patient satisfaction is not the top of their priority list. Now why did I give three stars and not less than that? You can tell this place is the only medical treatment place for a lot of people. Whole families brought their family members in for just regular check ups under the guise of an "illness". This tells you the horrible state of medical care in this country, that an emergency room is the only way you can get seen by a doctor for all problems. The fact this place was this packed on a weekday night says a lot about how cuts to medical care in our country are affecting small towns. The cramped waiting area from the amount of people here, seeing what families were coming in for just basic medical care, and how frustrated the staff was because of the amount of cases, is a reflection of how our medical care in this country is broken. Would I come back here? No, I would rather bleed out than put up with the lack of care you receive here. At least with my sad attempt at first aid, I would do it with a smile. read more

A complete nightmare. Bypass surgery. Night nurse OR someone stole my morphine. Had to go through entire shift without any kind of pain relief. Then forced to my room by wheelchair. Movement all by myself. Male nurse asked me if I wanted previous patient uneaten sandwich!! Hospital regulations prohibit, offering uneaten food from a previous occupant. Had to climb upon bed by myself. Could only manage to arrange myself into a fetal position. Doctor came in the next morning. Told me I look like I was dead...... he wheeled around and told nurse to put me up in the bed correctly and start an IV with morphine. He was going to make his rounds and when he got back, I better look like I was alive or the nurse would be fired!! only half the story they are horrible.!!! read more

Unprofessional and a vast sense of heavy feminism is rampant throughout the postpartum services. Most heavily with lactation specialist Clarissa. She would be speaking to my wife , and if I'd ask the simplest of question you could instantly see a mood shift . She implied that I called my newborn son "slow", insulted my financial status after me saying that we had a nice breast pump at the house, and to give the one through insurance to someone who needed it, and her replying "babies are expensive, and your not gonna have enough, so just take it".After talking with my wife if whether or not if it was just my ego making me feel the way I do or what, and we agreed to safely say that she had something going towards me. On top of that , we felt pushed into a corner by her. We had decided not to continue with breast feeding, and she pushed my wife into an uncomfortable forced situation of "you're gonna sit there and I'm gonna teach to breast feed your child. Besides my own gripes, you had nurses gossiping about how Botox in armpits make you sweat less, while my unborn son's crowned headed was turning black and blue, nurses peddling opiate medication for hemmoroids like Percocets. The only staff I can say I have any complements on are nicu and cnn nurses, and two of the best rns we could've had for l and d. read more

Overall wreck less management putting my grandma at unnecessary risk for numerous reasons. My Grandma in Texarkana was found severally dehydrated, confused with paranoid delusions after a UTI she has been begging them to resolve over the last 6 months went south quick. They failed to contact her emergency contact, me and I live in North Caroline, a sixteen hour drive if no stops but course stops are necessary. I made the drive because communication with the her nurse was nearly impossible. I get here and she desperately needs supervised for safely reasons yet they won't provide a sitter. Luckily for a short period her church stepped in and provided members that took on shifts until Sunday when I arrived. Yesterday stopped fluids even though she won't eat or drink enough and she is wasting away quickly. I often have to find a nurse when alarms and calls are left answered for long periods of time and at times nurses are hard to find, especially at night. The doctor is unwilling to do a thorough inspection my my grandma or listen to nurses who are willing to help when one can be found. My concerns and pleas are repeatedly dismissed. Now that I have started to annoy them they are trying to discharge her despite the situation. My personal experience though with the nursing staff is pleasant, they seem willing but severally understaffed. The doctors decisions though are dangerously wreck-less and the state of my Grandma is overwhelming supportive of my statement. Update, after this review and demanding to speak to supervisors everything changed. My grandma on deaths door and completely non coherent is now doing well. They changed the doctor and he paid attention and gathered all her available information. She was given a sitter 24/7, fluids where started again, minerals replaced and is weak but herself again. read more

I went in to the emergency room this afternoon for an ear infection. In less than an hour later, I walked out with medication for my ear infection, plus a prescription for my breathing treatments. Excellent service...the best service I have ever had at any hospital or doctors office. I recommend this place for quick, effective medical service. read more

I took in my son because he was breathing strange around 3am, vomiting and had a fever. After being admitted we were put in a room without a bed just two bench chairs. we stayed in the room for nearly 4 hours. Not once did the doctor offer tylenol or zofran to help my son. after asking for it, the doctor informed me they do not offer tylenol for fevers under 100.4. after having held him for 3 hours I knew he was way hotter than 100.4. after the nurse brought him tylenol right before discharge she noticed how hot he was and retook his temp. it was 104.6. the nurse was concerned and helped me get it down with rags and ice packs. the doctor was trying to ship us out the room as fast as possible and even left. the next shift doctor came in and sat for 30 minutes talking to me about how fevers work in a demeaning manor. my son for the past 4 hours just layed there. even at 3am its very abnormal of him. he then said he looks fine and sent us home. next day i took him to his regular pediatrician who got him a chest xray and found he has pneumonia. If i had listened to the doctors my son wouldve gotten worse and worse and being he has medicaid we are limited on hospital options. now i fear going when something is wrong with my children and will be hesitant to take them there. read more

Very disappointed in how this hospital has gone downhill since COVID. My grandson went in to be seen and he was very sick. He had symptons of pneumonia and they didn't even do an X-ray. They said it was just a virus and sent him on his way. They didnt even offer Tylenol for his fever of 104.6. He and my Daughter waited for hours in a small room with no bed and she had to hold his hot body the whole time. He was taken to his primary a few days later and they did an X-ray and saw he did in fact have pneumonia so he suffered those days and could have been started on antibiotics sooner. It makes me sad this happened. I use to be employed here years ago as a nurse and this was unacceptable! read more

I have had both of my parents in the ER several times and have always had fast response. Never had any problems. All my questions were answered. once they both were there at the same time and I was running from one room to the other. Staff was very kind to me. I stayed at Chrisus Saint Michael on the 16th of March . I went in for a hip replacement surgery, with. Dr. Hilborn as my doctor and as I came out of surgery . Now of course when I came to I was very uncomfortable and the PT PPL Lisa and a younger gentleman came in on in the afternoon of the day of my surgery and said it's time to get up and move and I thought they had lost their minds. I did and didn't really Like that it hurt so bad I didn't think I could walk for a as few weeks well but Lisa throughout my stay inspired me to thrive with my physical therapy I doubted myself and she didn't. I did really well . They even sent me home and took care of All of the set up of home visits from nurses and PT people they took care of everything for me they are the best I can't say enough nice things about them anybody has anything negative to say maybe they're negative people already tried to look at things positively you negative people because even in the beginning everything about this hospital what I experience was above and beyond what I have ever experienced in my life I've had three or four major surgeries I have never had women or nurses at all I had was a female nurses who treated me like I was their own child or their own sister or their own mother that I have never been treated so well I the only thing I can say I didn't like was the food was awful and the the people that came in to bring the food were rude that was the only people . But then again maybe worth this pandemic going on at the same time there was allot of going on. I was there for four days and Dr. HILBORN was amazing every time he came and saw me . Lisa from physical therapy was amazing . Pam and Gretchen-those are the name of the nurses those nurses I will always remember I felt not just treated well but even loved it was amazing everything about this place was ....I mean Saint Michaels is a great name for the place because I feel like everybody was angels and I mean that I have never been to the hospital before I don't have any relatives at work there I don't have any relatives who are doctors or nurses that work there this is just from my heart so thank you thank you thank you thank you to God to Saint Michael to Gretchen to Pam and Lisa and Dr. Hilborn and anyone else who work there at the hospital who helped to make my stay so wonderful I have no family in this town so everything about my stay was wonderful I felt like I was at a Four diamond resort hospital my name is Carolyn Sue Oakley and I work at Walmart on Richmond road and I hope that those folks coming to our store and that they have as great of an experiences as I did there . All I can say is WOW. This hospital literally saved my mother's life. She had been feeling badly for a while and when her primary care physician saw her, he didn't like her cardiogram and so sent her to St. Michael's for evaluation by their cardiologists. They did some tests and discovered she had several severe blockages in her heart. Rather than tell her about it and then ask her to come back and arrange for surgery, they took immediate action and did surgery that day. Any wait could have resulted in a catastrophic heart attack but instead they acted. We are so grateful for that. Her team of surgeons, nurses, and other care givers were professional, kind, understanding, and so good at giving us all the information and help we needed. I was never at a loss for information or a kind word of support. They treated my Mom with dignity and respect while tending to her medical needs in a prompt, efficient, and professional manner. I cannot say enough good words about them. Even random people in the hospital that I had to ask for directions to the different units were so nice and caring. I have never had such a good hospital experience. Ever. Such good folks. If you or someone you love are ill or need emergency care, go to St. Michael's. My sister had a heart attack . Tuesday night . Everyone Did a great saving her. The problem is ICU is a place where u cooperate but my sister had not had no sleep or rest because of the loud noises ,screaming. 10/10 would not recommend. I was in so much pain postpartum when I requested something for pain id have to wait at least an hour til I was in tears and hit the call button again for the nurse to finally bring me something. Then on discharge day a dr I had never even met before came into my room, he was pretty rude asked me if I needing something for pain which I was in quite a bit of pain at the moment then he asked me if I had gotten stitches which I hadn't so then he just said Motrin and walked out. didn't ask anything about the baby I just delivered didn't ask about How bad I was hurting or where. not only was I hurting physically I just can't believe the total disregard for the fact that I had just had a child so clearly I was exhausted and in pain and so emotional everytime I started hurting again I felt even more helpless because I was in pain and being ignored by the facility I expected to be caring for me and my newborn. i will definitely not be returning to this hospital that made postpartum that much harder. read more

As an RN at St Michael, it pains me to write this, but my recent experience with the ER was absolutely terrible. My wife was having a asthma attack, the staff got her back immediately and began taking care of her. Once the night shift came on, things went drastically downhill. She began to get worse and we called out for assistance. After about 15 minutes, the nurse came in, said he would call someone else and left. 20 minutes after that, I had to call the house supervisor in order to get some one to come back and check on her. As a nurse, and having previously worked on an ER,I understand long waits in the ER. However, when someone is having trouble breathing and the nurse doesn't even had the sense to place that patient on oxygen, that is inexcusable. The things mentioned here are only the beginning and I will be speaking with the house supervisor about these and more. read more

After a visit to the er I was admitted to icu. while my treatment was super,i was shocked to find out that their doctors are not in network. 4 months after service I get a bill for the doctors. my insurance company say bill is 4 to 5 times the network price. I think it very poor attempt to extort more money from me. read more

What a nightmare. From a major test being transcribed incorrectly, to treatment leading to complications no one was willing to deal with, still can't get an answer on tests. Sent home with complications he did not have going in. General negative attitudes, spent more time saying why they can't do something than any looking for a way, patients seem to be a major part inconvenience. Sent home with home health that never showed up, no help when I called hospital, again, made to feel like a bother. Praying for karma. read more

I entered his hospital as a medicare patient expecting to be taken care of in a responsible manner both medically and financially. I have two insurance policies medicare and a plan f supplement that picks up all that medicare does not completely cover. They put a scopolamine patch on me for nausea which I did not have. This medication is not approved by medicare so it left me having to pay this out of pocket . Medicare tells me the only reason I have to pay for nausea medicine given to me before surgery is because they did not give me an intervenious medicine which is common practice like 4 mg Zofran. I am out of pocket because of their incompetence or lack of consideration for medicare patients. I filed a complaint at the hospital and naturally they came back and told me I have to pay this unnecessary cost any way simply because they charged it. If you are a medicare patient and don't seek medical treatment elsewhere watch them like a hawk and don't let them give you any non approved medicine that is not given IV or it will be an out of pocket expense added to what you are already paying. read more
