The workout is real with all the steep dune trails, but climbing the limestone tower rewards you with a crazy panoramic view of Lake Michigan. For a smaller zoo, the animal encounters are incredibly close up; I got right near grizzly bears, wolves, a lion, and an awesome lynx that was acting like a giant housecat, bouncing around and playing with branches. It only takes about one hour to explore, completely skips the exhausting crowds and high prices of big city zoos, and sits right across the street from the beach, making it the perfect kickoff for a lake day.

They have signage for an accessible route through the zoo but it was blocked and closed in several places. I wish that price included something else like parking as well.

The marker reads, "In the aftermath of George Rogers Clark's conquest, skirmishers from Cahokia led by Capt. B. Hamelin and Lt. T. Brady, who had raided Fort St. Joseph, were defeated and captured near here by fur-trader Etienne Champion and Potawatomi allies of the British." The marker was erected by the Indiana Society, Colonial Dames XVII Century. There is space to park here and read the marker, visit the park or the memorial hall if it's open. To look at the Soldiers & Sailors Monument now, you might think it looks a lot like the monument in…read moreIndy. The reason is that back in 1903, sculptor Rudolf Schwarz created the five bronzes for this monument after having completed many of the bronzes down in Indy. You might also think that this monument must have been here for over a hundred years. But it wasn't. It was originally located on the south east corner of the courthouse and was dismantled in 1967. After sitting in storage for five years, the monument was reconstructed at this location and dedicated in 1973. The bronzes that you see include a 10' flag bearer on top, and statues of Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry, and Navy on a lower ring. When this monument was reconstructed, it displaced the miniature bronze Statue of Liberty that was built in 1951 as part of a Boy Scouts of America program. There are six of these mini statues around northern Indiana. The South Bend mini was moved to the east side of the courthouse. This is one of many stylish memorials erected over 100 years ago that commemorates those who fought to save the Union. South Bend's is in remarkable condition and is worth visiting the next time you are downtown. Review #3108

Wife and I are both Air Force and members of a legion in Michigan…read more Stopped a few times before and had great service but had only sat at the bar for dinner, that is until this last and final visit. We love their fish fry; so we thought, what a great way to end the week by supporting them. Made the drive only to be purposely skipped multiple times with eye contact by the server. We sat at the table in the center by the window in the bar. 3 other tables were occupied and were cashing out. 2 tables left within the 20 minutes we sat there. The 4 people at the 3rd table were having a laugh and conversation with the server, who had cleared the other tables before sitting for a chat with them. She got up and left to attend another table who had just sat down..... She looked at us each time she walked by. What was it? Our young age of early 50s, our attire; too fancy for you? Is it because we don't smoke? Because we aren't toting oxygen around? Is it because we are educated? Is it because my love and I have a great conversation with each other while waiting to be served? We tip... boy, do we tip.. usually 30%. We love to take care of our servers when they deserve it. The legions are suffering and needing young members. Well, you just lost 2, and we will deter everyone we know, here, verbally, and on social media.

I had some questions and they went out of their way to find answers. Also it was very clean and worked efficiently. Not much else to say other than this post office had all I needed and more.
