I've always been a loyal customer at chucks but my recent experience was disappointing. Last night, we placed our usual food and drink orders, but unfortunately, they didn't have our preferred drinks. We asked if we could simply cancel the food order and just pay for the drinks we did get, but instead of accommodating us, the staff threatened us with trespassing. When we requested to speak with the manager, we were told he was busy, even though we could see him at the bar and he never came over to address our concerns. Overall, it was a frustrating and unpleasant experience, and I hope the management can improve their customer service in the future read more

It would have taken so little to impress us. Monday lunch taking my mom out for a Luncheon ( Delayed Mother's Day) . My sister and I drove a few hours ( as my mom lives in Durham) to be honestly a little disappointed. Yes the food came to the table but our server needs some training to bring it up a notch. It was very obvious she just wanted to leave. Barely started clearing the first plate while others were still eating and wanted to know if we wanted dessert. When putting down the Bill which hadn't even reached the table wanted to know if we needed the debit machine ??? We still tipped 25 percent but very shortly after saw her leaving without anyone caring less if we needed anything else. Just not a great vibe. Train these girls properly plz it would go a long way! read more

I was on the road for work and I looked up BBQ and this place popped up. I had the rib and chicken BBQ and it was great. It was quite saucy and that is the way I like it, I was going to order one of the huge beers that I saw other drinking but since I was driving I did not. Chuck's is a chain of restaurants but it still reminds me of road house BBQ I had stopped at while driving across Texas. I would definitely go back. The service was quick and friendly. read more

Took a customer there on a week night. We both wanted a steak. I wanted the steak and lobster which is painted all over the front door. Waitress seemed under duress. Placed the order and she went out back, cam back after a few minutes, (after myself and my customer had listened to someone screaming and shouting at her), said that they didnt have baked potatos. Ok, so I asked what she had instead and replaced it with mash. She went to the back again and we heard the same shouting at the waitress, she came back and told me they had found potatos but had no lobster. Then this little guy came out from the back proclaiming to be the manager. He felt that it was OK to start shouting at myself and my customer. What an ignoramous, I paid for what we had ( a beer each and told him I would never be back. We went else where and had a good meal and a peaceful night. Phoned head office next day but didn't ever hear back from anyone. Guess the whole franchise doesnt care. read more

They call and advertise themselves a sports bar. Well...you better make sure the servers know how to actually change the tvs to sports games. A customer had to change the channel for the bartender/server. Guess she was too busy making and serving drinks...oh wait, no she wasn't as almost every customer on the bar side had to wait for their drinks at some point. (note - there were maybe 20 people on the bar side, watching the MLB wildcard playoff games) Food was ok this visit. Always a hit and miss at this location. Dirty glasses and plates sat on our table way too long as servers walked by empty handed. Teamwork would benefit everyone here. Restaurant was freezing cold. Early October and the A/C was on, pumping out cold air. We asked if the A/C could be adjusted but told by our server they cannot change the thermostat (same server that didn't know how to change the tv channels). At least 75% of the customers had to put on sweaters/jackets while eating. We live close by and usually visit this restaurant a couple of times a month, but think we need a break. Something has changed there, and they need to sort things out. read more

Not initially impressed Canadian Draft unavailable. Service was poor. My date ordered Burger with Fries. I ordered a single Fish and Chips and server asked if I wanted Fries with that?? The food arrived hot. Both the fish and burger were done well. Disappointment was with the fries. They were either over cooked or were a re-hrat batch worse that I ever had. This location was recently renovated from a Crabby Joe's and now is a Chucks Roadhouse Bar and Grill. The atmosphere inside isn't as nice as it used to be, no more cozy tables with separations, now it's mostly just an open area with tables. The staff was friendly enough but they couldn't make up for the poor quality food. I had the chicken and rib combo and my wife had the steak and lobster. The chicken and ribs were way over sauced trying to mask the poor quality gamey chicken and ribs. My wife enjoyed her steak (cooked to her liking) but the sides, fries were dry and cold, and the corn was as expected tasteless as not in season. Our appetizer, calamari, was also not very good, being quite greasy and not crispy at all. All in all, not a very enjoyable meal. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I was there a couple of months ago and was waited on by a server named megan. She took our order no problem was friendly enough. When our food came it was just ok but eatable. The problem came when I received my bill. I was changed around $4.00 for a drink I neither ordered or received. Well then Megans true colors shone. She did not apologize for the error and proceeded to tell me that she could not reverse the charge as the table was already closed off. I don;t know how the table would be closed off as none of the six people I was dining with including myself had not paid yet. Megan was confrontational rude and was down right nasty. She told me she would get me a manager and I said ok. When she came back to the table to collect payment she would not even look in my direction. I again told her I had not spoken to a manager yet and once again she was so rude shaking her head and rolling her eyes making it seem I did something wrong. Anyway I ended up paying for something I didn't get only to just get out of there. I worked 40 years in customer service and have never experienced anything so appalling in my life. Its not the amount that I was worried about. It was the principal and I went out to see people that I haven't seen in many years and quite enjoyed the night except for this experience. I will never grace the doors of that establishment again and by the way Megan I'm usually a good tipper when I receive the service but your tip was the fraudulent change of the drink. No tip given but certainly was not deserved. I don't go out much but when I do I will reward with a good tip if its warranted. I am at the Hanover location regularly. I have always been served quickly and efficiently with decent food for the most part, their soup is disgusting. What kind of restaurant serves just one kind of soup each and every day? They have chicken noodle soup, I don't mind chicken noodle soup but this is disgusting. My biggest complaint comes from the way the staff are treated by the owners. I have been there when the owners are not there and the staff all work together and get things done. I have also been there when the owners have been there and I have personally witnessed the owner tear into an employee in the restaurant (in front of paying customers) for helping another employee. This employee was yelled at and told not to do that again as it was not their job to do so. I know these employees on a first name basis but I am not using names purposely, they do not deserve to be treated like this. What this place needs in my opinion is new owners, the staff are great. read more
