My concern though is how selective the songs they play. Not much country (not sure if they even played Morgan Wallen's Last Night with 16 weeks at Billboard #1 at its belt). Never played Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us which was big in 2024, although being about Canadian Drake is obviously a reason.

I love new and old…read moreCanadian rock/indie music so I was overjoyed to find that they play a ton of bands and singer-songwriter types from Canada and all over the world. They also play a pretty eclectic mix of old funk, classic rock, retro 80s and other stuff, which is majorly expanding my musical IQ. Unlike a certain other radio station that has been playing the same 500 songs on repeat for the past 15 years, heavy rotation at this station means playing a song once in the morning and once in the afternoon for about a month or so. Then it's on to the next new song. Bonus: they play tracks from the whole album, not just the singles. I don't actually listen to any of the other shows (I prefer to listen to CBC radio 1 than their classical shows) so I can't speak to how good they are. Frankly, I love that the station has such a great range in music they play, so that someday when I get over the trauma of childhood piano lessons, I will have a good station in which to enjoy classical music.

Tempo is followed by Tom Allen at 1 PM, and we get one good hour of intelligent classical programming, like a combo of Goth and Kerr in the old days, before he sneaks in some light pop music and sets the stage for 8 hours of pop-rock with inane stale news comments. So, there is one good hour of classical programming, and a fairly interesting night line up of jazz and Signal until midnight. The rest of the programming is expensively produced drivel with declining ratings. Too bad we have to pay for it. edit April 4 2015. CBC 2 has improved their Saturday and Sunday offerings, with Pietro, Kathryn Duncan, and others, so I am upgrading from 1* to 3*. I hear that their ratings have tanked since the pop/rock formula came in. They could possibly regain their stature if they dropped commercialized pop format with stupid news comments that are stale by the time they get to air.

My number one radio station since the mid 80's is Q107 and considering todays lack of musical talent, it remains my go-to radio station whenever I feel nostalgic and I will go to my FM Radio instead of Spotify or Youtube. I turn to CBC for all news, local, national and global and their slew of fantastic personalities and hosts make every topic very interesting to the layman. Tom Power and the Q show has been my saving grace from going insane while under social isolation.

When you are in the audience of a taping, sometimes you even go home with a little prize, Oprah style! Most recently I was here for a taping of The Steven and Chris show and went home with a Happy Light while having enjoyed a half day full of laughs. I'm not longer part of the target audience of MuchMusic, this is a fact I've long known. However…read morethat doesn't mean I don't still get nostalgic when I walk by and see the teenagers clambering against the glass to see some new version of NKOTB or N'Sync or the Jonas Brothers or...man, there are so many still to come... Unfortunately your radio station distastefully allowed a listener to shout out covid 19 for "hitting the bullseye" which your host (Blake) confirmed they were referring to Donald Trump the President of United States (Our Allie) and said that was her favorite shout out. This is not what you should be promoting during these dark times when we should be sticking together and helping each other. WE ARE CANADIANS, THAT IS NOT WHO WE ARE! It is evil to wish ill and death on anyone nonetheless a world leader. I was so disgusted I could not let that go. We need to support EVERYONE who is suffering right now, those who are suffering with covid, poverty, addictions and mental health issues. We need to continue to set precedence and be the kind loving country we have always been. I think an apology is owed to the public and your radio hosts need to be better. We all need to be better!
