My hubby and I have stopped by Chuong Garden twice now and the lunch special is definitely a good value. I ordered the Broccoli and Beef lunch special with egg drop soup, and my hubby got the Mongolian Beef lunch special. The soup is on the starchy side but the other dishes always come out hot and freshly wok'd. Is it the best Chinese food I've had? Far from. *but* for the location in a small town in Iowa, it's not bad at all. Service is fast and friendly and Amy was very helpful when we last visited. Service is great and fast. Nice, clean restaurant. Lovely people...but the food. Oy. Heavily sauced. So much soy!! Ordered a chicken dish and it had little chicken. Mostly mushy, over cooked vegetables sitting in a pool of very dark soy sauce. Fried rice was rice, a little bit of egg, and you guessed it...soy. Hot sour soup was gelatinous. Eggroll was essentially mushy cabbage. Saw a few strands of over cooked carrot. No sweet sour sauce or silver sent with it. Suggestion: lighten up on your sauces, don't cook the veggies so hard, and make food less gelatinous. read more

This restaurant is not closed! It was closed during Covid but has reopened. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. It is located right along the Mississippi River and across the street from the Historical Amtrak Station and half block away from shops and restaurants in downtown Fort Madison. Their steamed dumplings and crab rangoons are amazing. Their signature dish Chuong Chicken is my favorite. Their specials are always good. Some of our family favorites are Three Ingredients Sizzling Platter, Cashew Shrimp, Cantonese noodles, Peking Shrimp, Chicken Lo Mein. Give them a try you will not be disappointed. read more

I ordered the lunch special Kung pao chicken with a soup. They first brought me out the fried won tons and water I ordered. When I got my kung pao chicken which isn't hot at all. When I first looked at the plate is was puddled with teriyaki sauce......yes puddled, I literally filled up 3/4 of the bowl of soup I ate. The fried rice was under cooked and the water was the best thing I ordered. The restrooms were old and dirty and looked like they haven't been clean. Don't really recommend this place. read more

I have a bias after living in Chicago for 15 years and only a mile from one of the most amazing Chinese places I've ever eaten at--that's my disclaimer. But, Chuong is quite good for your standard sit-down Chinese restaurant. If a place can do a good hot-sour soup to assuage my cold-infused stuffy nose during the winter, then I'm pretty happy with it. It just so happens that they also make good lo mein--much less greasy than so many other places. And the staff is really friendly and that's always a huge plus in my book! read more

I've tasted Chinese food in California, Texas, New York and now Iowa. I can honestly say that the food wasn't too bad. I ordered the Mongolian Beef and some noodles. The main dish was what I had expected. I had lowered my expectations because, let's face it, this is Iowa. But I was pleasantly taken aback with the service, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the laid-back atmosphere. I might come back and give this joint another fling. read more

I get take out here about once a week. Food is always hot and vegetables are fresh. When digging in the service is always quick, and polite. They have excellent Crab Rangoon, fried rice and lomein.
