They offer both in-person and online services (if you're unable to make it to the sanctuary) making it easy for everyone to stay connected. The youth group is phenomenal, providing kids a safe, fun, and Christ-centered environment to grow in their faith and form lasting friendships in anything from the youth room to the attached gym downstairs. Whether you're new or returning, this church is truly a welcoming and inspiring community for all types of believers.

I wanted to put a review here to mention the annual St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church festival,…read morewhich occurs in October. This year's festival brought out hundreds (and possibly more than a thousand) of parishoners, neighbors, and friends to 9th Street. The festival is similar to a church fair/fundraiser except more spectacular. Small carnival rides were operating on one end and a stage with live music on the other. Festival goers walked down the three-block promenade to feast of local South Philadelphia food and buy t-shirts and other small items. The church remained open during the festival for peace and meditation during the event, which ran from 12 noon to 9pm. It's was truly a memorable experience of food and friendliness. This is a must see for anyone in South Philadelphia and worth traveling for those living in other parts of town.

Long story short. I was invited by Maria the kindergarten teacher to look at the school. Visited…read moreand enrolled my kids. Was so touch by the how welcomed we were decided to attend Sunday mass. From there it was a match made in heaven. lol. Took classes to convert and become Catholic. The faith director Mr. Mueller is such a cool and inspirational person. I was blown away by his readings and translations of scriptures. Discussions with RCIA really gives you an understanding and respect for the religion. Loved that the church offers this class. Father Kaufman loves his religion and shows it in his readings on Sunday mass. He truly brings the community together and teaches us to love one another. This church and the community really opens its arm to all. When I was younger I didn't like going to church because church attendees made you feel weird when they stare at you. This church has the opposite effect. You can see the care and love people here have for their church and fellow members. I am now apart of this great church, St. Richard's.
