When we were looking for a new church home, we decided on City Reach Church. We've both grown up in…read moreChristian families and were in a season of life where we were looking to be spiritually challenged. Thankfully, a good friend of ours recommended City Reach; and after checking out the church over a couple of Sundays, we made our choice. We enjoyed and continue to be delighted by the friendliness of the church member community here. The parking team does a wonderful job each Sunday to make sure we find a parking spot, and they have a shuttle that brings us to the entrance. Drip coffee and hot tea are provided if you'd like to enjoy a hot beverage while worshipping and listening to the sermon. The worship teams are truly in the spirit and sing in the name of Jesus. The worship sets are powerful and we can feel the Holy Spirit moving within us, and we see how others around us have been impacted as well. The pastor is unapologetic in preaching what is written in the Bible. He doesn't add fluff but stays true to the Word. His expository style is appreciated as he highlights the main ideas while calling out key points. They also have a children's program, from infants through high school. Their new campus is beautiful and has several parking lots to choose from. There is also overflow parking available with a shuttle provided. City Reach Church isn't charismatic nor is it traditional (we've been to both kinds in the past), it's actually fun and we look forward to going each Sunday! The style here is unique, though it's not necessarily for everyone. If you're curious to learn what a relationship with Jesus looks like, are new in your walk with Jesus, or if you're looking for a new church home, we highly recommend giving City Reach a try!

I have recently found Christ again after many decades of indifference. I was never a non believer…read morebut rather a passive Christian. Due to the state of the world, I decided to start going to church and formally introduce my children to God. I can not express the love and happiness I feel when I enter that auditorium and hear the music and see the people all praying and singing in unison. My heart vibrates on a different level and I truly feel so close to God and Jesus. I have been attending Sunday sermon and I actually look forward to going to church again. I am a better person to myself and to others for the renewed love I have for God and people. This kind of love I never felt in my Catholic school and church. The message is dynamic and based off the bible, but easily applies to everyday life. My children have attended the kid's church and last week went into the adult section and they absolutely loved it and accepted Jesus as their Lord and savior without hesitation. What an amazing feeling I had as a parent to witness this. City Reach Church is HIGHLY recommended if you want to have a close relationship with God. What an amazing experience this far!!

I visited Hill Country Bible Church hoping to find connection during a personal "church crisis."…read moreI'd struggled to bond with others at previous churches, and this was my last-ditch effort. I arranged to meet a church member to get a feel for the place on a Sunday morning. The campus is massive--parking was a nightmare, the sermon hall felt like a stadium, and the hallways were a maze. The sermon itself? Same generic message I've heard countless times. I was craving something bold, raw, and real--something to shake me out of my rut. This wasn't it. The sheer size of the congregation--thousands of heads in front of me--made it impossible to feel seen or connected. I had some hope with the church member who showed me around. He was kind and I opened up about my struggles, but the follow-up was disappointing. I got a text from him six weeks later. Excited for a potential connection, I replied quickly. His response? Two days later. This pattern continued--me responding promptly, him taking days to reply. When he finally suggested coffee, I shared my availability right away. Three days later, he responded. By then, I was done. I told him politely to forget it. Suddenly, he was texting back instantly, insisting he wouldn't "let me go." It felt forced and too late. With their $15,000 to $20,000-a-year per student private school, pristine facilities, and massive attendance, it's clear Hill Country doesn't need me--or you. I came looking for authentic Christian community and left feeling invisible. After this, I've given up on finding a church. If you're seeking a personal, engaging faith community, this might not be the place.

It's been one solid year now, and GATEWAY has officially become our church home!!! We love coming…read moreto Gateway because they open their doors with a welcoming heart and a no-judgment approach. Heck, it's even their church motto, "no perfect people allowed". I'm personally drawn to sermons that pair Scripture with practical, everyday applications and personal stories, and their pastors deliver every single time. Though we started at the South campus location, we've been branching out to the other locations to switch things up. We've seen Carlos (senior pastor of Gateway) and the North campus several times on screen, but unfortunately never in person, so we decided to take a little road trip. Campus size, HUGE. Production, HUGE. Number of churchgoers, you can guess what my answer is. While we were unable to catch Carlos this time, we had the pleasure of Justin, executive pastor preaching to us instead. We're looking forward to our next trip!

I'm sure this church is doing a lot of good work, but I left with some concerns. The sermon focused…read moreheavily on being mindful of our behavior outside of church because people--especially younger generations--are watching us. We were encouraged to be intentional about how we speak, act, and even how we treat people in everyday situations. What we do can easily turn a young mind away from Christ. That message made the music choices particularly concerning to me. Secular music was playing when we walked in, and immediately after the sermon, as we were leaving, Beyoncé was playing while we were being encouraged to stay for a children's event. Given the very intentional message about what influences we expose ourselves and our children to, I found that contradiction difficult to understand. There is so much excellent Christian music available that I found it surprising that a church would choose secular music, particularly music from an artist whose imagery and spiritual themes may be concerning to some Christian families. Beyonce in particular is well known for her anti-Christian beliefs, satanic imagery, and the obvious provocative displays. Not someone a church should promote even if you do like her music in private. I recognize that others may have a very different perspective on this, and perhaps this was simply an oversight or an indication that the church is more liberal-minded than I realized. For me personally, though, these details matter. In an age when children are constantly exposed to competing, and demonic, messages and influences, I believe churches should be especially intentional about what they normalize and promote. Because of this, I don't think this is the church for me, but I wanted to share my experience for others who may have similar concerns. The sermon was otherwise fine.

I was 4 years old at the time and I had no clue how pivotal of a decision it would be for her to start serving God at this church. By doing this I was raised in church and had a reverence for God. However I didn't really surrender my heart to God until I reached the age of 19 which was about 3 years ago now. I shutter to think about where my life would be if God hadn't sent Pastor Terry WAKEFIELD and his wife Jody to start a church here in Austin, Texas that I can be a part of today. I'm very grateful for this ministry and to be saved and in my right mind with a Pastor who has a passion to serve God, lead and direct this church to carry out Jesus Christ's commission to go out into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation. I strongly encourage you to come to this church and begin to live a true and meaningful life worth living.

If you are not going to church to hand your life over to God. Do not go to this church. But if you are desperate for help and are seeking a message this is the place to go. You will know where you belong if you go. I don't go to this church now because I stay in San Marcos and don't have the transportation to get out that far. if I was in austin, I would go. I will be in austin next week so I might try to locate the church's new location in anderson mill. These are RADICAL christians. They are inspired and talented thanks to God. Of course I am a backslider, I haven't been to church in over two years, but I know where to give credit where credit is due.
