After a recent sermon I looked up the Yelp reviews, and my husband and I had a good laugh at some of the 1-star comments. I was surprised Christians would go so far out of their way to complain about things they can simply choose not to participate in. Yes, seating is assigned because the main area is small and often full. While it isn't my preference, it's never been an issue. The church does a great job coordinating parking, greeting people, opening doors, and helping everyone find their seats. The kids' area requires security stickers for entry, which I really appreciate. They'll stop anyone without one, and I love that focus on safety. Most importantly, the messages always hits home. We come to hear the Word, and VCC consistently delivers. Keep up the great work! read more

Edit: spoke with leadership team, confirmed that there is indeed no place for new families. It wasn't "forecast" with their aggressive growth and there is no roadmap to allowing families to share this experience together. ALSO NOTE, there is not a place for kiddos with sensitive needs (audio, overstimulation, etc.) Absolutely terrible family experience for newborns. The lead usher forced my wife and I out of the "family room" to watch service along with another family as there were no posted signs it was "women only." As a father of a newborn, needing a place to nurse, there are ZERO facilities available unless you identify as a woman. Have been a member for 2+ years and have never seen such a blatant disrespect for a family trying to attend services TOGETHER. Absolutely mortified, embarrassed, and tentatively pulling our membership as our home church. Have had problems in the past with Alex on the small group teams talking my wife and I out of leadership roles, and following up excessively (makes the car warranty guys look professional.) Awful awful awful experience as a new family of 3, after numerous volunteers told us we had a place to go. I even tried their number listed on google, called on a Monday (online said they were open,) there's zero opportunity to leave a VM to voice concern and after a physical visit to the church all doors locked when it was posted they were open/available. read more

As someone who was an atheist for many years and came to faith naturally over the past 20 years, I've experienced a wide variety of churches and worship styles along the way. Victory City Church has become home for our family. After reading some of the other reviews, I'd say a few of the comments are fair--but they really come down to personal preference. Yes, the music is energetic and can be loud, so if you prefer a very quiet or traditional service, that may not be your style. Yes, the seating is guided to help create community and make space for newcomers--but personally, I see that as part of fostering connection rather than a negative. And yes, the sermons lean modern in style rather than highly traditional. But that's exactly why we love it. My husband and I feel deeply encouraged here. My 73-year-old mother-in-law loves it. Our 20-year-old sons love it. That alone probably says a lot--multiple generations finding something meaningful in the same place isn't easy. What matters most to me is that the message points people toward God, growth, and genuine faith. Victory City has been a welcoming, uplifting, and life-giving church for us, and we're incredibly grateful to have found it. read more

My experience here was both underwhelming and painful. Please permit me to explain. Upon entering the parking lot, you see a sign that instructs first time visitors to flash their headlights to be directed to visitor parking. The day I went, the visitor parking appeared mostly empty. I flashed my headlights several times. I was directed to the main parking anyway. I was feeling more welcome by the moment. Walking into the sanctuary, you have to run a gauntlet of people and booths with donuts, cookies, beverages--junk food--all vying for your attention to join their group. Thanks for the offer of empty calories guys, but I'm here to know God, not to meet Him sooner. It's very crowded and hard to maneuver through this melee to get to the sanctuary, especially if you have an injury or mobility impairment. You can accomplish your "belonging" goal in a more orderly, dignified, and safe manner. Fire Marshal take note. Strike one. Upon entering the sanctuary, their ushers walk you to just where they want you to sit--you're really not given an option. These "handlers" like to fill the front row seating first, probably so it looks good from the camera angles for the rock show soon to come on livestream. You notice this later because the center is made to appear full and the wings are mostly empty at the edges--except at the front. I don't like being told where to sit, and your chairs are uncomfortable to boot. Strike two. Then the rock show begins. It's LOUD. Over the top LOUD. Make your ears bleed LOUD. Pump up the bass. Pump up THE BASS. PUMP UP THE BASS. Like that annoying car next to you at the traffic light playing loud music you don't want to hear and wish you could run the signal to escape. I had to plug my ears with my fingers for most of the service; it was THAT deafening in the second row. SPLs so high it would have no doubt registered in the hearing damage range. And, worst of all, the lyrics are monotonous; I got the message of the refrain the first 47 times you sang it in a row. Did you run out of words or just forget the rest of them? Strike three. Honestly, with all the zealotry, I'm only surprised they didn't bring out snakes. Worst of all there was no real lasting message the day I attended. A bit of right wing political propaganda WAS thrown in for lagniappe, though. Otherwise, the leadership just babbled on aimlessly and endlessly without a particular point or message of the day. Every time you hoped the "message" was almost over, it was extended, until it abruptly ended--in the middle of nowhere. Strike four. To be clear, I have no issue with contemporary worship. I've found one I'm particularly fond of at another church. But the bottom line is that praise worship shouldn't be painful to listen to and participate. I should not have to put my hearing at risk or wear earplugs to be there. I should not have to be manhandled into a particular seat to go to church. I should be treated as a guest as Christ commands. NOT RECOMMENDED. Not on a dare. Victory? Hardly. You're out! Of the running for my new church home, that is. read more
