My husband is on a strict diet due to allergies, and Des was able to provide us with gluten-free toast for breakfast, which was fantastic. The room itself had a wonderful view and was so cute and homey. The whole house is decorated very nicely and has dried flowers all over. This is a very historical home with an abandoned castle on its grounds, which you can explore at your leisure. In the sitting room was a book about the history of the castle and how it came to its current state. It was very interesting and Des was able to provide some additional insight on this matter as well as other local history. We had The Full Irish as you can imagine and it was very delicious and tasty. ( a bad Full Irish can be very greasy and you'll live with it long after you've finished eating) this one was clean and tasty. The English Breakfast Tea was a very nice compliment to the breakfast. The conversation with the host was entertaining and informed. One insight he shared was about Ireland, he said " It's a great wee country that would be perfect if we could put a roof over it" ( to keep the rain off ). We will return again tomorrow.

It's a very reasonably priced place for everything you endure here. It's a restored little castle that you are encouraged to explore during your stay. It's located on a farm that you are welcome to collect eggs, milk cows and pet the animals (optional). The inside of this place is something out of a Victorian dream or something you see in a movie. Very exquisite interior, sparkly clean, spacious rooms, cozy and comfortable. Water is provided in your rooms, outside food or drink is not accepted (understandably). It's a completely divine experience you will never forget. The hosts are wonderful and deliver such heartfelt hospitality. In the mornings they go above and beyond for a breakfast, milk and cheese made on their farm. They have a lovely menu you are sure to want more. The first time I stayed here, my husband and I were the only ones on the entire facility. The staff had a huge presentation of a delicious breakfast buffet, I was blown away. I had the exact same experience the second time with two other families and it was lovely. I truly can't express enough how much I love this place, I would move here and work here in a heartbeat. I want so much for everyone to enjoy what I can only dream of. I've traveled a handful of countries and many places in the US, I have never had a move gorgeous memory. The hallways have two to four step stairs, then plateau before hitting an actual flight of stairs. It was interesting. The rooms are heated, but the hallways are not. We were FREEZING walking down the halls on our way to the hotel restaurant for dinner. The hotel has a restaurant that serves delicious food. I had a cauliflower and ginger soup, irish beef stew made with guinness, and a brownie with ice cream for dessert. Service here was busy but good. We were a group of 80 and the staff still maintained their friendliness despite the large crowd. In the evening the hotel has a dancing show event. It is only on select evenings though. The hotel does not offer free wifi. Thankfully we were situated in a room that was directly across from a bus station so we were able to connect to the wifi from the bus station. My two issues with this hotel was that it took FOREVER for the hot water to get hot in the morning. After running the water for 20 minutes, the water was still just lukewarm. Plus, the hotel turned the heater off in the middle of the night and did not turn the heat back on until 630am in the morning when we were getting ready to leave. Other than these minor issues, our stay was nice and the beds were comfortable. Views are also very nice from here and our room had a pant press. This hotel definitely has history!

The veggies were too well done and soft. The curry soup was excellent but the mushroom just good. The cheesecake was ok but the lemon was amazing. The fish mains were very good. Glad we came but won't be back.

The restaurant / breakfast room is open and airy and full of atmosphere but considering it is one of the focuses of the house I don't think it's the best bit. I far prefer the small sitting room beside the bar (which is in itself not too shabby), open fires and a large brandy... very nice. The grounds are huge and just the thing for you to wander around with a hang-over, a couple of hours of fresh air, including a visit to the pot bellied pig and the chickens, leaves you hungry and ready for more food.... Which is really what this place is about. The bar food is great, a little expensive but worth it. I'm giving 4 stars because we cant award halves - 3.5 would be my preference but it in no way deserved 3 so 4 it is!!

Kay also recommended a local pub that not only had exceptional food but also they had traditional Irish music from a live band. The pub, the band (the music) were just what we wanted and again, Kay was superb in her suggestions. The next morning breakfast time was efficient and Kay friendly and she spent a few moments with us even though she was attending to the other guests. Highly recommended. Quiet place with beautiful gardens, wonderful host, local entertainment.
