Stay away from Metal Mayhem, Troy Rogers, and Sharon Rogers in Snowflake, Arizona! I have worked…read morein the automotive industry for almost 20 years. In that time, Metal Mayhem is the WORST body and restoration shop I have ever had the misfortune of coming across. In my opinion, their work is shoddy and their business practices are highly unethical. Moreover, they are currently trying to dilute their poor reviews from actual customers with 5-star reviews from friends and employees.
If you believe you have been scammed by Metal Mayhem, Troy Rogers, or Sharon Rogers, I encourage you to write negative reviews online and file a consumer complaint with Arizona Attorney General.
Troy and Sharon Rogers provided me with an estimate to restore my 1969 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 for $19,427.80. The parts I sent were supposed to be deducted from the final bill. However, in October 2018--a year after the restoration was supposed to be completed--they tried to charge me a total of approximately $50,000 ($30,000 over the estimate). This was in addition to the thousands of dollars in parts they ordered from me and never paid for.
The outrageous final invoice was sent by Juana Channel, who is married to Jeremy Channel, both of which are attempting to inflate Metal Mayhem's online reputation with 5-star reviews on Google.
Troy and Sharon Rogers promised the vehicle would be completed in October 2017. Yet, they strung me along for over a year constantly claiming the vehicle was almost finished. For example, on October 26, 2017, Troy texted me that he was getting ready to paint the vehicle and "this thing should take as a week or so to put it back together after that." The vehicle was not put back together the following week as stated. Troy continued to lie and mislead me. In November 2017, Troy stated that 85% of the bodywork was "completed." In January 2018, Troy said the vehicle was "really coming together." However, months later, it still wasn't done. Troy then claimed the vehicle would be "fully done the first weekend of June" 2018. This was a lie. Then in August 2018, they claimed it would be done "in the next day or two." That was also a lie. They then claimed the vehicle would be "finished completed" the "next week." Again, another lie. These lies continued to happen all through August, September, and into October 2018.
To make matters worse, an independent inspection by a certified body shop revealed Metal Mayhem's bodywork was "below industry standards," and it would take a full refinish (about $10,400 of repair) to bring the vehicle up to professional standards. This independent inspection had to be rescheduled because Metal Mayhem couldn't even get the vehicle running after they said the restoration was complete.
In order to get my vehicle back, I had to sue Metal Mayhem for consumer fraud and breach of contract. Once I did finally get my vehicle back, the vehicle was trailered directly to a competent repair facility where they are finding it has numerous mechanical problems, including several serious safety issues. It is unclear whether these issues are due to intentional sabotage or simply Metal Mayhem's poor workmanship. Nevertheless, these problems are supposedly going to be covered by Metal Mayhem's promised warranty. Yet based my two-year ordeal, I would not be surprised if I am going to have to sue them again to get these items covered.
Metal Mayhem claimed they replaced 266 parts on the vehicle and there are "3 or 4 totes of old parts." Despite several requests for these original parts, Metal Mayhem has failed to return them. Again, I will once again likely have to sue them if they are not returned promptly.
I will update this review accordingly.
