Sometimes you stumble across a place that surprises you so pleasantly.... this is one of those times.
I didn't make reservations for my first choice in town thinking I could walk in and be seated since it was only me-wrong! Heed all the warnings that reservations are recommended in Porto. So between shopping and exploring I ran out of time and needed to head to the station.
Thought there had to be some options close to Campanhã station. There are a few Churrasqueiras in the area and for some reason I chose this one.
When you walk in you can smell the enticing aroma of the grilled meat. I saw chicken, sausage, meats on the grill. A very simple set up with a bar in front and seating in back.
I chose the Linguisa as it seemed to be the quickest. Excellent! They have this hot oil sauce that you can use for dipping which takes it to another level. There was a gentleman next me that was having a stew dish that looked good so I asked what it was. It was chicken (he pointed to his neck so I'm thinking Giblets stew) but we couldn't determine what between my English and my bartender's Portuguese & it was an off menu item. He gave me a sample and it was delicious! The Superbock was cold and cheap. Sardines looked really good also-next time.
They found an English menu for me and were very accommodating. A hidden gem and definitely a local's spot. Right across the street from the station, If you have a little time before your train departs don't miss this chance..... read more
