The tour…read moreof the interior of the castle is not as extensive as one would like due to the fact that the family still lives in part of the castle, but they do give you a tour through some of the oldest parts of the castle and it is a beautiful and exquisite place to see! After the tour of the inside, we wandered through the grounds and explored the beauty of the outside. They have goats and chickens and dogs which were adorable and we enjoyed watching them. The gift shop was also fun as we took home some local treats and tasted their wine from the family-owned vineyard. Everyone was very friendly and the drive out through the Bourgogne countryside was breathtaking. This castle was definitely a highlight of our trip!

An amazing restaurant and hotel!…read more We stayed in the hotel, given that Puligny-Montrachet was a perfect location for a night to be spend during our biking trip on the wine road of Burgundy. On the suggestion of the staff, we reserved a table at their restaurant and were all but disappointed. First off, the cooking here is amazing. The card is not large, like in most good french restaurants. It's basically the Chef's menu + a couple of options. My partner went with the menu and absolutely liked her courgettes crème with soft cheese as well as the fish, whereas I thoroughly enjoyed my meat cocotte (excellent doneness, excellent sauce, excellent potato grattin) and paté en croute with whites for the latter and reds for the former. For the dessert I ordered their chocolate mousse - excellent, although a bit bitter, that paired extraordinarily well with a red advised by their caviste. Finally, to finish the meal I ordered a Premier Cru Puligny-Montrachet white. It was absolutely amazing - I enjoyed it for a solid half an hour while my partner was enjoying her Champagne Rosé. Their wine collection deserves a special mention. We were tasting the wines by the glass and were advised on the pairings by the staff wine expert. We were pleasantly surprised by how well of pairings the wine expert was recommending, as well as the general quality of the wines. In fact we liked some of them so much, we ordered several bottles after checking out from the hotel. The service is excellent, but the place is all but cheap (count 80 - 250 for a dinner for two, depending on what you order and the wines by the glass that you will order) and requires a certain dress code. But it's totally worth it. The hotel itself gets bonus point for excellent consumables, calm location and high accessibility of all the common spaces and rooms. Overall, excellent experience. On the expensive side, but worth it, especially if you like wines.

Staff speak some English and were helpful in getting me a wine I wanted. Prices are also reasonable (well reasonable in burgundy wine is expensive in many other places) and selection is good. Wanting the wine tasting experience that everyone talks about when they visit Beaune but without…read morethe insane pressure of buying. We ended up here. A self guided wine cave tour. Perfect! Although we wish we were, we don't know a whole lot about wine, but we do enjoy tasting to find a favorite and learning more about how to taste. Just buy a tasting package at the counter. You have your choice of 7 wines for 11 euros & a souvenir metal tasting cup or 7 wines + the grand cru wines for 15 euros & a souvenir wine glass. We got 1 of each. Head down into the 13th century caves below and read through the tasting notes and info about each wine. It started with reds, went to white, and ended with the grand cru fancy cooler that a store associate will help you with scanning your "badge." You can pick up a wine carrier to the wines you'd like to buy along the way or just wait until the end for the store. They also go through if you want to ship an order home too. Everyone was very friendly. We ended up loving one of the whites, which surprised us. Stowed it in the luggage and can't wait to break it open for a special occassion!

We tried some white Saint Aubin Premier Cru and a red Chassagne Montrachet. The red was really tasty. Fruity, nicely balanced. A really impressive Pinot Noir. A beautiful french wine. The white was good, but not much our style. We looked for something a bit richer and heavier. Ended up buying two bottles of red and a blind buy that was not available for tasting: a white Chassagne-Montrachet En Pimont - Au Pied du Mont Chauve. Turned out to be a fantastic Chardonnay, rich and full of flavours. Amazing wine. This was a fabulous tasting experience with wonderful wine. Everybody really friendly and helpful. Fair prices for the high quality of the wine as well. And our Bulldog was even welcome in here too. Surely a place to come back to. And their wines are now also on my "to buy" list.
