The manager that sat down with us to tell us about the history of the building, the impressive vegetarian menu and just the general ambience of the place. We chose to eat here for two reasons: 1 - the menus are written outside on chalkboards near the road. That way you can see what's being served without going in to ask for a menu. This is very good for us because as vegetarians, we've had to leave restaurants before if they don't have veggie options. 2 - it was one of the few places open. Just a friendly tip--don't go on holiday in November. Everything is frickin' shut. A lesson we learned the hard way! Anyhow, the Crumplehorn had it's doors open and we were lucky to have gone in. I've never seen any problems in this pub. It's a little hidden gem in Turnchapel. Worth finding if your in the area. If you have a complaint the staff bend over backwards to help you and make up for it. Best customer service by far! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and would take my family down any time. I am a local and have lived here in the area all my life. In the day it tends to be filled with people with no-where else to go. The beer is cheap, the wine cheaper still, and the food is actually pretty OK for the price. Due to the size of the place, the kitchen may as well be in a different county, so food is often a little less hot than expected, but generally the quality and portion sizes are OK. The Blue Peter pub is the last one on the quay before France. It has a fantastic atmosphere, wonderful food, wonderful people and a whole lot of lovely memories for us. We have been back a few times over the years, and may well do it again next year. Particularly , when the mullet are up on the Gulf Stream!! All in all, a special place for us, and any other romantics who want to try it out. An afterthought, we decided to put up a couple of honeymoon photos!!! Seems like yesterday.
