Comedy night at Ceilo Farms Winery was ridiculous--and not in a good way. First, parking is valet only at $22, with no alternative. Once inside, the seating situation was rough. Although advertised as covered, heaters were extremely sparse. The only area that seemed properly heated was the $300 couch seating, while general admission guests sat freezing in a wind tunnel coming up through the canyon. It was cold, uncomfortable, and impossible to relax. As for the comedy--honestly, the biggest joke was expecting people to pay for this event at all. The food and drink pricing was shocking for what you get. A $37 margarita pizza arrived at about 7 inches in diameter, and a $45 pepperoni pizza was the same size with only four pieces of pepperoni. Wine wasn't any better: a $55 tasting flight with very small pours, and $35 per glass for a small pour of mediocre wine. Between the uncomfortable conditions, inflated prices, and lackluster experience, this night felt more like a cash grab than an enjoyable event. Definitely not worth the cost. read more

When we arrived six guys were hanging out behind the bar and didn't even welcome us. We were told we could order at the bar or a server would come to our table. We went and sat down for 10 minutes and no one came to help us. Ended up going back in the barn to order our wine. Wine flights start at $50. Hands down my favorite winery! Celebrated my birthday here with a group of 15 people and we all enjoyed ourselves so much! From the start, the planning process for my day was flawless. I e mailed the winery on the date and time I was hoping to have my get together and they responded quickly and professionally. I really enjoyed picking the wines for my day and the details. When we arrived to the winery, our table was already set up with the wine glasses. The winery is absolutely breathtaking and no matter where you are sitting, you have a great view of the surrounding area. A few of us ordered pizza and the charcuterie boards that they offered. While rhetorical charcuterie boards are small for the price, I highly recommend getting any of the pizzas. They are so fresh and tasted so delicious. Each of the staff were also so kind and helpful and made sure my day was excellent. We had a cake we were afraid would melt and we are so thankful to the staff to make sure it was stored in a cool location rather than outside. Our son took me and my husband to this place for my husband's birthday. It was definitely a nice treat for us and especially for my hubby since he needs to get away from his everyday busy work life. The place was great and very relaxing. Enjoying our wines and just staring at the stunning view from atop the mountains. Each table has a fire pit since it does get cold when you're at a higher elevation. But the day we went, the weather was just beautiful! We ordered two Flights, a glass of Chardonnay, a glass of Wild Berry red wine, and ginger ale. They all tasted great. Overall, it was a great experience for us and we really enjoyed it. Posting this review to warn those interested about why it's not 5 stars: They require you to use Premiere Party Rents for rentals. Had a horrible experience with them where they added thousands of dollars in extra fees they couldn't justify. They were very expensive, rude, far (in Torrance), and also lied/played games about acceptable payment methods. The wedding planning experience can be rough and you deal with all types of people. Cielo Farms Winery is hands down one of the worst winery experiences I've ever had, and that's entirely because of their manager. The manager was a complete asshole. Condescending, disrespectful, and clearly drunk on whatever tiny amount of authority he thinks he has. My wife and I were talked down to like we were children who needed to be "managed" instead of paying adults who came to enjoy a winery. The tone was rude, dismissive, and borderline hostile from the start. No professionalism, no hospitality, no manners, just attitude. This place likes to pretend it's upscale, but the behavior we experienced was trashy and embarrassing. A winery is supposed to be welcoming and relaxed, not a place where some power-tripping employee makes guests feel uncomfortable and insulted. If this is how they treat customers, it says everything about the culture running the place. Save your money and your dignity. If you've been looking for a winery in Socal (without having to travel all the way to Napa/Sonoma), you definitely can't WINE about Cielo Farms! Came here for a friend's birthday, and I loved how easy it was to set up a reservation just a week before the event. Cielo has some of the most gorgeous views I've seen at a winery, and I would highly recommend them for beginner wine enthusiasts who don't want to travel out of Socal for a winery experience. I was a bit disappointed that the scenic areas were closed off for a private event about 30 minutes after our arrival, especially since they did not inform us beforehand nor give us a partial refund for an incomplete experience. I also didn't love how we had to carry our wines/wine flights to our table, considering how expensive the flights were (expect $50 per person WITHOUT food). Even more distressing were the sheer amount of bees, and I would highly recommend asking the staff for a tabletop bug swatter to keep them away from your food and wine. read more

I reached out in advance to inquire about the wine tasting on September 20, 2025, and was informed that reservations were required. After booking, I received no further communication specifically, nothing indicating that the venue would be closed for a wedding on that day. Upon arrival, the experience was deeply disappointing. The tasting consisted of several employees gathered around a table chatting with each other, and guests seated at tables with three wine glasses each; don't expect a single cracker here. The so-called "guided experience" amounted to the same person who poured us a glass of champagne on the walkway briefly identifying each wine in about five seconds, with no meaningful explanation or engagement. The pours were light to average at best and on their terms they returned to fill our glasses that had been empty for some time. This was intended as a birthday celebration, yet it ended up being the worst and most expensive wine tasting I have ever experienced. I left feeling completely underwhelmed and misled. The setting itself only added to the dissatisfaction: fake grass, a makeshift tent, and a dirt parking lot where "valet" simply parked cars a few feet from where guests entered. It was clear that the best vantage points were off-limits due to the private wedding taking place at the main venue on the top of the hill. Bottom line: Views were nice, wine was underwhelming, the staff lacked training, the website needs improvement, and charging full price for a downgraded experience in a tent is unacceptable. Driving over an hour to experience the "Spirit Airlines" of wine tastings was certainly a choice and will never be back. read more

We went last Saturday with my family, the place is gorgeous with Tuscan inspired building and views of the Santa Monica Mountains. As far a value, I would say it's on the expensive side. Valet parking is $21 plus tip, flask of wine tasting (3) ( 1/3 full) is $80, a glass of wine $45 and so on. Self service only. We had a medium pizza was $28, 3 sliders $55. My daughter ordered a bottle of wine, not the best quality: $140. So be prepared to spend some money for the views. I think if you are going to spend that money, you would expect some personal service and not just self serve. read more

My book club met here in August. My first visit and I'd definitely come back. Loved the atmosphere, plenty of attentive staff to assist you, ordering happens in the 'barn' which is an upscale counter service. Food is various pizza and charcuterie boards. We had several and all was delicious. I'm not much of a wine drinker and they allowed me to taste several before I made a choice. I really appreciated that assistance. They had a free photo kiosk which was nice touch, too. I didn't post photo because I don't have my friend's permission. Only caution is the traffic of cars coming in and going out. It's valet only and 'just' enough room for up and down traffic. Just have patience and you'll be fine. This place is absolutely gorgeous! Stunning mountain views and of the various grape varietals. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We went mid-week so no charge for parking but I understand they charge on the weekends. Kind of ridiculous since there is nowhere else to park. We enjoyed the wines we tried for the most part. Some of the reds were a bit too sweet for my liking. The rose was lovely and we decided to get a bottle. I thought it would be between $30-$45 and was shocked to find out it was $125.00!!! It was lovely but not $125 good. Tastings and bottles are egregiously over-priced for the quality of their wines. It's pricey than places I have been in Napa. We also ordered a charcuterie board that was almost $70.00!! the inflated charges are mind-boggling. I think it's a one and done for me. Our experience at this winery was very disappointing due to the manager's behavior. We stepped outside the restaurant to smoke, not realizing it was a non-smoking property. The manager followed us outside and informed us of the policy. We immediately said we didn't know and were already walking back inside with him, fully complying. As we were walking in, the manager aggressively said, "If this happens one more time, I will kick you out." My friend simply responded, "Oh no," without any rude language or attitude. At that point, the manager escalated the situation and said he was kicking us out for "speaking." He then accused her of rolling her eyes -- which is impossible, since he was walking in front of her and she was wearing sunglasses. We sat back down at our table, and the manager returned and told us we could stay to finish our food but that he would no longer serve us alcohol -- even though we had already ordered and paid for wine. The wine was left untouched on the table. Given how we were treated -- like children instead of paying customers -- we chose to leave and not eat the food either. We are all successful professionals and we have never felt so disrespected and treated like children. This entire situation could have been handled calmly and professionally. Instead, it turned into an unnecessary power trip that ruined our visit. We will not be returning and would not recommend this winery based on the manager's conduct. It is impossible to ignore that this situation felt racially motivated. We were treated with immediate hostility and suspicion despite being respectful, compliant, and calm. The way the manager escalated the situation so quickly, made false accusations, and punished us without cause felt like racial profiling rather than a response to our behavior. read more

We just visited for my son's birthday. The host was very confused. The waiters were very slow and they rarely came to our table to take orders. We asked for ice four times only after four times someone showed up with the ice. The food served was below average quality we took pizza and pasta. Even simple pepperoni pizza quality was poor quality. Our bill was $1100 and for that price we only got mediocre food and very average wine. The place has OK vibe but definitely not what it is advertised for. The waiter brought water without any glasses we had to wait another 10 minutes for glasses to arrive. I wonder what the expectation was to just drink from the bottle? This is a place where you can probably go and just walk to the wine bar and just take a glass and start walking in the area and that would be it. You see a waiter and you ask for a food they respond that they are servers for a drink only and they can't take any orders for food. You have to search for waiters and hoping they will bring timely. The only one star I can leave is for the view. Our experience: My wife and I headed to Malibu for lunch at Cielo Farms to use the gift card we received from my son. We were surprised the gift card number was not found when handed to the testing room server while purchasing the wine for lunch (their gift card can't be used towards the food). The server told us he would find out what's wrong and will let us know. We finished eating and drinking at our table, however there was no feedback. I went to the wine counter. The server said he has no information yet but will call his manager. I went back to our table. 5-10 mins later, the server comes and tells me they can't find any information and asks me to check with my son for the receipt. Awkward! I texted my daughter-in-law since my son was at work. She was also busy with our 1-year-old grandson's therapy but still was able to find 7 months old email receipt. I did show the confirmation to the server. He said, ok good, that is all I needed from you and took a screenshot of the receipt. He didn't mention anything about the remaining $45+ balance. I asked him about the remaining amount. He looked surprised, not sure if he was expecting me to leave the balance with him. That is where our argument started. He called his manager, Matthew Cohen, who informed him that during the purchase of the gift card their employee forgot to load the cash. Basically, they handed an empty gift card to my son. We asked to get the remaining balance, but we were refused. The server said his manager will call my son to put the remaining balance back to his credit card. I asked for confirmation that the call will happen. They refused to provide any confirmation and repeated that Matthew would email. I asked for the copy of the email. Refused again as they said it is a privacy issue (what kind of privacy issue, we are holding the gift card). The server handed the phone to my wife to talk to Matthew. My wife started to explain the situation and said we are humiliated holding the gift card, going through this. Matthew didn't let her speak, instead started yelling to my wife that we are being unreasonable, that he was not working at the time the gift card was purchased (like it matters if he was or not). I took the phone telling him to stop yelling, he said he was done talking to me and hung up. Never apologized about their own mistake. And this is happening at a high end, overpriced place. I said to the server I am not going anywhere until I have confirmation of the refund, it is not about $45, but the way it was handled ruining our day. I sat down at one of the nearby tables. After 10 mins, server comes and gives us a bottle of wine as an apology and assures us that the manager will email my son. We took the bottle and drove to my son's where I found out, that Matthew, the general manager whose LinkedIn profile claims himself as a "dynamic hospitality leader with over six years of experience at the iconic Wally's Beverly Hills", emailed to my daughter-in-law this statement "Unfortunately, the situation escalated, and your parents became quite direct and aggressive toward my staff. As a result, we had to ask them to leave the premises. With your approval, I am more than happy to refund that money back to your account and the credit card used to resolve this for everyone involved". Apparently he is also a liar as no one asked us to leave the premises, they knew it was their mistake which didn't need to be escalated but could have been solved quickly with a quick refund and an apology because their employee didn't load the gift card during the purchase. And still he had the guts to ask approval from my daughter-in-law for the refund instead of refunding it right away. Not sure if it was refunded at this point. The only thing we found nice at this place is the view. But that is all, food is not good, wine is terrible for the price. They lost us and my son's family customers. PS - had few emails with Matthew back and forth. I asked him to provide me with the recording of our conversation as he still said we were aggressive with his staff. He didn't mention anything about it but still chasing his own narrative without any apology. I did read a few reviews, and it is clear now that the owner has the same values as Matthew. Complaining will not help. Keep way from this place. If you want a nice view, there are many view points from the canyon. read more

Cielo Farms is one of my favorite wedding venues in the Los Angeles area. My company, Louise & Third, has had the pleasure of planning 2 weddings at Cielo so far. Rob and his team are all very professional, attentive, and make the planning process so easy for myself and my clients. The performance of all of the staff on the wedding day as well really feels like a team effort and I am forever grateful to them for helping us navigate a rainy wedding day for my most recent couple where we had to rearrange the timeline and be quick-thinking for keeping our guests dry and warm. You also really can't beat the view and amenities the venue provides. 360 degree views of the mountains and vineyards make you feel like you've been whisked away to Tuscany! We enjoyed working with them due to their professionalism and quick responses. They were also very transparent and we appreciated that. We were very pleased with the service and the taste and quality of the food (would consider it 1 star Michelin at least). Amazing drive up to this place so long as you're fine with going up an incline that curves around. But honestly once you get to the parking lot you'll be in awe by the spectacular view. Walking to the venue you'll just have breath taking views left and right as you're walking toward the entrance. Once you get inside you'll be greeted by the bartenders at the counter helping you check in and explaining the menu. The menu isn't that complex so you have time to order at the front and once you're done you can go find a spot outside to sit at while they prepare your wine and food. Beautiful views for all your photo taking whether that be for food or your own personal instagram. With all the beautiful views, it makes sense why the food took a while to get to us, so good thing we were distracted. I got the Summer Flight and really enjoyed the Chardonnay portion. We were a little disappointed that the charcuterie board didn't come on a board, but I guess it's also due to covid restrictions so they had to put them in boxes. The pizza was an ordinary pepperoni pizza nothing special. Sorta wished I got the margarita pizza. Overall I could imagine a beautiful wedding reception here and or an extravagant party. If I could give this 0 stars I would. My experience I had was extremely disappointing and quite the let down to say the least. Seeing the pictures put up, many videos throughout social media I had high expectations but was let down hard. First our waiter took about 20-30 minutes just to give us our menu to follow it up with another 10-15 to take our order. With that in mind I'd hope I could go pick out some great wine but again let down with subpar quality of wine. I go back to my table to find my food there, with one of my pastas cold. After we got done with our pastas ( tagliatelle wagyu bolognese, tagliolini pomodoro ) which was terrible,at that price point you'd think the pasta would be better or at least hot but no. The best part about this was the view definitely beautiful no doubt but not worth it at all. Our server helped us about a total of 4 times and that's counting the most basic etiquete for servers and took 40 minutes just to close it out and on top of that you still have to close out your tab at the barn spent about an hour just WAITING to be served. The restroom situation was terrible construction style like why are there porta potties at a winery especially at the entrance no less, with the smell that just hits you upon entering. Touching on the staff note again, while I was waiting to be closed out I had a gentleman come up to me and ask us if we were doing ok and if there was anything we needed, thinking to myself wow great finally some decent service, I told him yes everything is ok could I get my check and these plates out the way. Why does he proceed to then say " oh no sorry that's not my job " THEN WHY WOULD YOU ASK IF I NEEDED ANYTHING IF YOU CANT PROVIDE THAT, The fact I had to go out of my way to ask to hostess to PAY for the dinner was absurd. Overall if you see the negative reviews on here and think that they were exaggerating or just being a Karen or want to give the benefit of the doubt, DONT it is not worth it that's the same mentality I came in with and left utterly disappointed.
