I worked as a vendor here on May 4th and was the most impressed by the venue itself. Guests are able to go down to the beach while still having plumbing accommodations which feels so luxurious. It is a bit of a smaller space with a large bridal suite and patio to fit even more guests. The only con is the lack of parking that requires a shuttle or parking across the street as Ubers and Lyfts are sparse due to lack of WiFi/being so far out. read more

This was my first beach wedding. I was a guest. This place is absolutely dreamy. CEREMONY The ceremony takes place on the outdoor patio which overlooks a beautiful private beach in Malibu. The view is breathtaking and you can hear the soft sound of the waves in the background. PICTURES: The bridal party took pictures on the beach with the guests behind them looking over the balcony. I'm sure the bride and groom also got some gorgeous wedding photos out there too. Note if you are in the bridal party to come prepared with shoes you don't mind getting sand in. I noticed the men brought sneakers and the girls were barefoot. WHAT TO WEAR I was unsure what to wear to a beach wedding. The wedding I attended went from day to night. I wore a pink cocktail dress and that was perfect. Everyone at the wedding I attended wore colored clothing. I would stay away from black. And heels are fine because you are on a patio, not the actual beach. I recommend some nice open toe shoes with heels. I suggest wearing sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses (for a daytime wedding) to protect against the sun. I also suggest bringing a sweater as it can get chilly by the beach and also in the reception hall when they put on the air conditioning. Just note that there isn't really a place to store extra stuff except in the bridal room so pack lightly. RECEPTION The reception is inside in an intimate room with beautiful white tables, chandeliers, and a beautiful white draped backdrop with lights. The venue is small and intimate. It feels like being in someone's private home in Malibu. You have the place all to yourself. LOCATION This venue is deep into Malibu. If you are coming from the Westside of Los Angeles you will pass Pepperdine and Zuma Beach to get here. OTHER This place got an award from "2018 Best of Weddings" award from The Knot. The venue works best for smaller weddings. The one I attended had approximately 50 people and that was the perfect size for this venue. read more

This review is long overdue. We got married on 10/5/18. We looked at about 4 venues in person and MANY online, but the moment we walked into MWBC we knew we had found our venue. This venue was perfect for our wedding of 90 people. The weather was beautiful and since it was a Friday wedding in October, the beach was completely empty which made it feel more intimate with our guests. As others have mentioned, the simplistic beauty of the venue didn't require much additional decoration. The venue has a decorations department where we sourced the arch and added bistro lights. But the venue is already equipped with the draping, lights, and chandeliers. We didn't want to add much else because we wanted the main focus to be the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. We originally toured with Jacquie, who sold us on the venue. After she left, we worked with Christine who was just as attentive. She was quick to respond and helped make the day a breeze. The venue also provides a preferred vendors list where we found our caterer and DJ. As others also mentioned, while the location/venue fee may seem out of range at first, the fact that you can choose your caterer and supply your own alcohol is a huge cost saving if you do your research! read more

My first beach wedding was held at the Malibu West Beach Club. I'm not a beach person myself, but the couple is, and even I must admit it was a pretty site for a wedding! As a member of the bridal party, I didn't have to worry about parking as our driver was allocated one of the prized seven spots that were available onsite. A look at their website reveals a significant vendor list which might make a nice starting point, though my couple had elected to have a friend marry them, was referred to a terrific wedding coordinator by a co-worker, and homed in on a hair and make up stylist due to her photos on Yelp. I'm not 100% certain, but figuring that they probably would prefer to avoid the $500 Service Fee for bringing in an off list caterer, they most likely went with someone pre-approved. Upon our arrival, we headed straight into the Private Bridal Parlor, which was a good sized room furnished with a living room set, a dining table, a few high seats before a counter in front of a mirror, and a safe. At the time of our event, there was a bunch of stuff stashed by the safe at the far end of the room. Not sure who all that belonged to, but it was a bit awkward and was something to be considered when taking photos. With no private bathroom in the parlor, we not only had the groomsmen hustle the groom out of the way, but the bride would change out of her wedding gown to avoid ruining the surprise pre-first look. The banquet room was simply yet beautifully draped with sheer white fabric and strings of white lights. It made for a nice classy background. We also ended up using a corner of this room for the family photos when it was discovered that the beach a drive away, which had been scouted out as the original site, was no longer available due to high tide. The partially covered deck where the wedding ceremony was held overlooked the beach and the ocean and, because we were on the west coast, the sun, during our afternoon wedding. Though beautiful, it was uncomfortable for the guests, and many of them used the programs to shield their eyes from the sun, and unfortunately, their view of the couple as they were wed. Perhaps a ceremony held earlier in the day would be more pleasant for the guests to witness, although that might make for a longer day for those who wish to incorporate sunset photos into their event. Although it is a beach club, and the beach is public (Zuma Beach), beach access is limited to the bridal party and the personal paid crew of paparazzi, and perhaps some closer family members, for brief photo shoots. With nearly a hundred people in attendance, and a buffet station in a corner, we still had a reasonably sized dance floor at our disposal. Though the bathroom was small (two stalls in the ladies room, if I remember correctly), there were never more than 3 others in there each time I visited. Notes: The Rehearsal was held at a nearby park for two reasons - Malibu West Beach Club was over 40 min away on a good traffic day, and there would be a fee for that. In this case, we decided against the tradition of wearing the wedding shoes for the rehearsal. For our door games, we used the entrance area in front of the Parlor, and involved the hidden bride via FaceTime and a reversed camera so she could still see everything from the comfort of the Parlor. Be flexible - know what you can nix for when you find that you are behind schedule. To boutonniere relatives of the bride and groom, may I suggest providing a list of those receiving the flowers and pre-directing them to the location where they would be pinned? Beware of wind - the bride's veil was blown into the path of view of the videographer till I attempted to assist. If banquet tables do not all have an identical number of guests, provide the caterer with precise heads per table, so when the bridal party is seated after the entrance of the bridal pair, everyone has a seat and setting, even if they had to move the tables around for some reason or another. read more

Recently attended a Friday wedding of my good friend from college at Malibu West Beach Club. It's a beautiful location... Hard to beat that it's in Malibu. It's a decent sized room and sizable deck. The wedding I attended was able to fit 16 tables that seated 8 people each. This still left room for the dance floor, food stations and DJ booth. The ceremony was really nice. It was scheduled for 4pm and despite it being a warm October afternoon, the sun only bothered you for little while as it was going down. The view is really nice, especially at sunset on a clear day. We were fortunate to experience all of it firsthand. I read some other reviews that complained of the small restrooms. I can see where that would be an issue but I wasn't the night I was there. I also recognized some complaints regarding inadequate ventilation by not being able to open the wall to wall glass windows except at the doorways. It did not bother me too much even though I was right by one of the side glass walls. I think it's set up that way because too much noise would escape and probably upset the neighbors. The evening I was there cooled off enough where only a couple of times did I notice that it was a little stuffy sitting where I was at. Other than that, it was fine. Like I mentioned before MWBC has a sizeable deck that capably holds the wedding ceremony and bar setup. As soon as the ceremony itself wrapped up the MWBC staff was quick to retrieve the folding chairs so as to move them inside for the reception. The staff was courteous & friendly. They were usually quite available when needing a refill of water or wine. The food we had was pretty good. It was set up buffet style. A British accented staff member escorted each table to the food stations when it was their turn. It was run very orderly and smoothly. I definitely took note of that. Our starters consisted of bread & butter and a nice spinach/arugula salad served with candied pecans and roma tomatoes in a vinaigrette. Dinner was chicken piccata cooked in its usual butter, lemon & capers. It was pretty damn good. There were also slices of oven baked potatoes. They were good with some slight seasoning. There was also some seasoned pan-fried (i think) vegetables. That wasnt bad. And lastly there was pasta in cream sauce. Not a bad spread whatsoever. I enjoyed it all. Parking as stated by other Yelpers (thank you) is along Trancas Canyon. Just use the crosswalk and your at MWBC... Great times, great location, very nice venue, awesome friends... This venue defines beauty! As soon as my wife and I stepped foot on this property, we knew we had to get married here. The beach front property allowed for a breath taking view and amazing pictures. Our initial wedding venue for 2020 canceled and didn't give us the option to reschedule so we searched other venues and found MWBC. Wow, what a gem! The minute we walked in we knew immediately that this was the place and booked with Christine right away. Our wedding took place last weekend and it was everything we thought it would be. Malibu Beach as our backdrop was utterly amazing regardless of the clouds rolling in. Our guests were in awe of the breathtaking view, venue, set up, accommodations, and excellent food. My wife and I had the pleasure of getting married at Malibu West Beach Club (MWBC) on Saturday, January 6th. We had around 145 guests and it was the perfect venue! If you're finding this as you're planning your wedding, the most important thing I appreciated from all our vendors during the planning process was this: clear and prompt communication. It keeps things stress-free and it helps ensure that nothing gets lost between the cracks. I always appreciated that Jacqui, the events manager, would respond to emails only hours after I'd sent them off. Seriously, one time I wrote her an email early in the morning here in New York, and she responded right away! I was like, "How are you up so early?!" Another thing I loved about MWBC was that we weren't locked in to using one specific vendor. They give you a list of people they've worked with and approve, but you're free to bring your own team in. This helped us save on costs (other venues we were looking at locked us into some $20,000 on catering!) Not only that, but this truly helps you make your event your own! Having that flexibility really made us feel like the event was our own, and that we weren't forced into working with any vendor we weren't 100% with. The day of our wedding, we were also blessed with Christine, who I'd be remiss in not mentioning. Christine served as our site rep for the day, but she was also the decor manager we'd been working with for months. She was professional, as well as the most positive and kind person we'd ever dealt with in our whole wedding planning process. For our wedding, chose to hang up bistro lights and use the arch provided by MWBC. Take note that you can't choose the bistro lights AND the lanterns at the same time... but I think we made the right call in choosing the beautiful bistro lights! Something I appreciated that I didn't think of when picking the venue: During the reception, the deck also makes for a nice place where guests can cool down away from the dance floor, have a drink, and just take in the sounds of the ocean! If you're looking for a beautiful beach wedding, look no further than MWBC. I don't think the pictures or a FaceTime tour do it justice--when we walked in to drop off items for the wedding, I was in awe of how much more spacious it looked... and to see the beach from the deck is a sight to behold. My husband and I got married here last month and let me tell you this venue is absolutely breathtaking. He found this venue initially and when I saw it in person for the first time I knew we had to do our wedding there. Not only beautiful, but for sure the most affordable venue you can find in Malibu. If you're getting married and looking for a beach wedding, look no further. It's even more beautiful once everything is filled in with the flowers, table settings etc. I've included photos from our recent wedding below as a reference. Christine is lovely and provides an entire manual of preferred vendors for every category you can think of, which is super helpful if you don't know where to start in terms of finding other vendors. Heads up, you must use one of the caterers on their preferred caterer list. You can use an outside caterer but they need to go through an approval process and for that there's a fee, so I'd just recommend using one of their caterers from their list. My husband and I used Critic's Choice Catering in Redondo Beach and they were great! Christine was great about answering all of our questions and the day ended up just perfect. We had our wedding here and loved it! It's a beautiful venue with amazing ocean views. They have a great room to get ready in with lots of natural sunlight. The staff was helpful and speedy with email responses. Parking is tough since they only offer 7 spots then you can use of street parking or hire valet. The onsite manager Jacqui referred us to Pierre's Catering which was a huge success! Unlike other caterers that wanted to up charge us for everything from linen, plates to silverware. My wife and I had our wedding reception at MWBC on September 30th, 2017. Malibu West was an incredible place to have our reception. There was a reason that it was the first and only place we considered for the reception! Not only is the venue situated in a wonderful location, with great ocean/beach views, but the facility is naturally beautiful, and you don't need to do much to make it look amazing for the big day, which we really appreciated. Jaqui and her team really know what they are doing, and have everything from recommended table layouts based on your wedding size to a long list of preferred vendors and decor that you can rent directly from them if need be. We wanted a simple wedding, so all we needed to do was use their tables, chairs, and linens, with very little additional decoration. But it was comforting to know how many options there were! My wife and her bridal party really loved the attached bridal suite and the 12-hour rental of the venue made it possible for them to get ready while our day-of coordinator and caterer got the space ready. The bridal suite itself is almost 100% worth the price of reserving the venue. For downsides, it was a bit of a pain that parking is so limited on-site and there aren't many options beyond hiring a valet company, but luckily the valet company Malibu West works with have reasonable rates and were very courteous. Our wedding was on a Saturday right at the end of "busy season" so reserving the space was expensive. However, it was still worth it for us, and we were VERY pleased with our experience. If you're able to fit the price to reserve the space into your budget, DO IT! You will NOT be disappointed. read more

We had our wedding reception at the beach club on July 20th (weekday). Working with Jacqui and Christine from the beach club made wedding planning a breeze! They are both very helpful and quick to respond via email and phone. They also have great recommendations for vendors- we chose one of their coordinator, caterer, and valet from their preferred vendor list. The venue pricing was very reasonable (on weekdays) especially for the location and it included security and the use of their table/chairs. It is a smaller venue, so it was a little tight inside with 145 guests--but it made our wedding feel very intimate. I was really worried about it getting too hot and stuffy inside, but the weather was perfect and the AC kept it cool. The balcony was large and roomy with an AMAZING view that we all enjoyed. Guests are not allowed on the beach, but we are allowed to go down and take pictures. The beach was full of club members, but they were very nice and didn't get in the way for photos. Christine assisted us in additional venue decor and we chose to add additional draping behind our sweetheart table and colored covers for the couch on the balcony. The draping turned out beautiful. We wanted to do more draping, however it was not in our budget. I thought the draping was overly expensive given we couldn't hire outside vendors. Jacqui was very accommodating the day before our wedding and we were able to hang up a few things and drop off our decorations--given there was no event the day prior. Which was sooo very helpful because we were trying to figure out who/how we were going to get everything over to the venue the morning of. This also made things easier on my coordinator and caterer! We had our ceremony and reception here a few weeks back. We could not have chosen a nicer setting for our intimate wedding. The venue was perfect with a wonderful outside patio that's on top of the beach. Helen was our planner and she did a great job coordinating almost every detail for us (caterer, photographer, decoration, officiant, party gifts, cake, bartenders, etc.). This came especially handy since we live in Virginia, so most of the planning was from across the country! Us and our guests (about 55 people) all had a great time. I recently attended a wedding held here. It's a very intimate venue for a beautiful beach sunset wedding. The view here is breathtaking. The beach club is set up so your event is the only one there -- there's only enough room for one wedding, so you won't have random people coming and going and the split attention from the venue and its employees. When you walk in, you can already see a glimpse of the beach. The main room for the reception flows out into the outdoor wooden deck for the ceremony and bar. While your event may feel very private, it seems like the beach below is not so much. Right below the beach club's deck is a beach with some picnic tables, a volleyball net, and some lounging chairs set up. If it's early enough in the evening (like the entire afternoon), there will be people not associated with the wedding enjoying the beach downstairs. Which means you may have random people barbecuing and playing volleyball in the background of your wedding photographs. Should you get here early, there's a plaza across the street with a Starbucks.The food served here is decent and the service is adequate, though the server for our table seemed a bit off, spilling wine on BF's white shirt when pouring in his wine glass, picking up our finished plates at an awkward angle with the side tipped so that the leftover sauce on the plate almost ran off the plate and onto us, and spilling water when refilling the water glasses. read more

Looking for the perfect venue, we decided for a venue close to the ocean.The moment my husband entered the MWBC, our search was done... the view is perfect, it is perfect sized for 100 people and with a small kitchen on the side, your caterer has place to work. Jacqui helped us so much and was always there for us! She gave us great recommendations and shared beautiful memories of her daughter´s wedding at the MWBC. The venue itself has a private beach which can be just used for the bridal party. Since we were on a budget, we did many things ourselves and Jacqui and her team were great to work with. This venue is not just beautiful, it is affordable and offers so much more than other venues we saw! Lucky us: there was no event the night before our wedding, and, we were able to decorate the day before and our first coordinator even stayed longer since I decided to make our flower arrangements at the venue. She was very sweet. funny and so helpful with questions. Since my husband decided to make my life easier and to plan the rest of the wedding, I had no worries since 90% was done together. However, as the bride I did not notice much behind the scene, but I did notice the DOC (coordinator for the day) being in her office most of the time. On our wedding day, we got a different coordinator who was not as involved as I wish a DOC would be. It did bother me that she was mostly in her office and our catering team helped me with timing when the bride should go out and not her. Even later in the evening when our dancers came to perform, she was mostly in her office, the dj arranged everything or our photographer. On top of that, we were rushed by that DOC to shut down one hour earlier as contracted, we needed to tell her the time we booked the venue . I would recommend to get an own DOC, even if you have been told that MWBC provides one. Besides that, I could have not wished for a better venue. "When you fall in love, sometimes you just know." These were some of the first words Jacqui, Malibu West's events director, said to us as we entered the building where we got married. It was true of our relationship, and very true about our choice in our venue. The moment we walked through the door we were in love. Let me paint a picture the best that I can, Malibu West Beach Club is a hidden little secret. Once you turn the corner on Broad Beach you see this beautiful intimate beach house. As you walk up the stairs a gorgeous view of your reception area opens up to a breathtaking balcony. The balcony overlooks the wonderful shore of the Malibu shore. The venue is so beautiful, we hardly felt the need to decorate. Who wants to compete with the fantastic view of the ocean, the waves, the sand? Another feature my wife adored was the bridal room. My bride and her bridesmaids arrived around noon and retreated into the room. There they got ready, stored items, drank mimosas, and relaxed before the ceremony. It was also very helpful to have a place for my wife and I to hide from guest time to time during the reception. The photos are a dream come true. After the ceremony we came down and took "the shot" (the classic MWBC balcony photo showing the bridal party and the entirety of your wedding guests). We could not have selected a better place to have a wedding photoshoot. The photos on the beach, near the water, the ones indoors and outside on the front patio. It was nothing short of magical. As for service, not one of my vendors had responded to my emails faster than Jacqui. If you want someone attentive, caring, and professional, you come here. The representatives were very helpful on the day of our wedding as well. The contract and packet include everything you need to know about the venue and also includes a VERY helpful approved vendors list. We used a lot of her recommendations and we did not regret it. Overall, this is where we chose to celebrate our love and announce to our friends and family that this is where we start our forever. I wouldn't have started it anywhere else. This is the best raw venue on the beach for wedding, parties and special events. Jacqui was very responsive and helpful with my planning and vendor suggestions. They were open and great to work with on various details and logistics, and we were able to get this plan within 4 months of getting this venue. I LOVE this venue as it reflected "us" and we were lucky to have the dolphins in the background on a sunny day. We had 150 people at our wedding and it didn't feel crowd at all,we had a fabulous caterer "Pierre Catering" that was on their vendor list who brought all the tables, linens, utensils, glassware and dishes included in his price. We were able to bring our own alcohol and Pierre had a bar and bartender included in his price. I didn't have a "day of coordinator" but the MWBC facilities manager help with a lot of the set up , made sure the candy bar was always filled and alphabetized all the place-cards. She made sure we were clean and out in time. They were very fast in returning the deposit, which is great. I would recommend this venue to anyone. The only thing you need to remember is that you have to bring drinking water if you don't want it coming out of the tap. My caterer helped with getting water deliver to us that day. We had a hollywood hills valet, they were wonderful. Use them, don't make your guest try to find parking. We had an amazing day, even though we started the ceremony late, everything went smoothly and ended earlier then I thought. pros: BYOB, your own space, on the beach Cons: it's farther from LA then you think. If you read some of the complaints in the other reviews, it was either poor planning/set up or service from of the people throwing the event and not the venue. We actually saved a lot of money and didn't have to pay for a "day of coordinator" because of all the vendors working together all suggested by MBWC managers. Use the vendor's they recommend as they know the space, work with logistics and make your wedding run smoothly. They really look for ways to help you save money if you ask for their advice. I was here yesterday for my friend's wedding. It was a lovely affair. The reception overlooks the ocean. Guests of the wedding were not allowed to go onto the beach/sand because that is private property. Only members on the beach club are allowed to go on the sand. 3 stars for the poor ventilation in the place. There are two doors out the back that face the beach and one double door that faces in front. There were about 125 guests and servers in the place. It got really warm really fast. I felt bad for all the guys at my table wearing 3 piece suits and ties. They all said they were really hot. There are no ceiling fans either. The club is made of all glass windows, but not one of them open. I would suggest the owner to add more usable windows. Also, ceiling fans would make the place very comfortable. For the ladies restroom there and were only two stalls and the same ventilation problem--none. So you can guess what happened there. It was musky. If you are going to host a large event at the Malibu West Beach Club I would suggest you bring Fe-Breeze or a candle for the restrooms, it makes the restrooms smell a lot nicer. I asked the manager about it and there wasn't any on the property. read more

We saw dolphins on the day of our wedding thanks to the beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the ocean! Our site rep on the day of was super helpful. Gorgeous venue!! From the initial viewing with Jacqui, to the day of, the venue was very responsive to email questions. The decorations we ordered were all setup when we arrived on the day of. The venue is over the beach with view of the beach, with one beautiful, light, airy room for the reception. The toilets were always stocked during the wedding and the bridal quite was perfect for getting ready. A lovely location that allows you to bring in your own vendors and booze. If you are looking for your own tailor-made wedding at a lovely beach side location, this is the place for you! read more

I had my wedding at MWBC on a Thursday on August 20, 2015 and it was the most perfect day ever! I booked my venue from overseas and didn't see it until 3 months before the wedding. I was absolutely overjoyed when I saw it - it was perfect. We made the most out of our venue and made it very personal to us - every single detail was DIY and tailored to fit our personalities. This is the best part of the venue. You can make it your own! We wanted a wedding by the beach (but not on the sand) so this was perfect. The space was bright and clean - just what we wanted. Clean, simple, and timeless. Jacqui was extremely accommodating. It really helped to meet with her in person because several of the things that seemed complicated at first were not a problem after discussing them with her at the venue. We had a small wedding with about 60 guests and it fit everyone beautifully. My guests were extremely happy - everyone had a great time and they loved the venue. parking was easy on Trancas Rd - no big deal if you have a small wedding party. Half of ours drove and the other half were shuttled in. Not one complain. We used two of their vendors and were 100% happy with them: Barbara Laughray the officiant and Julie the bartender. They were both perfect and all the guests knew Julie by name within an hour of being at the wedding. Barbara made our ceremony so meaningful and special. Thank you to them both! The only downside is the drive is far into Malibu and hotels are not readily available so we rented a party bus to shuttle in our out-of-town guests in from Santa Monica and they loved it! We rented apartments in Santa Monica and Venice using airbnb. It was still a 30-45 min ride but more affordable and spacious than Malibu rental properties and way more appealing than staying the valley over the hill. We held our wedding ceremony and reception at MWBC this past July. We wanted a beach wedding, we wanted our ceremony and reception in one location, we wanted our ceremony to be on a deck as opposed to in the actual sand, and we wanted to avoid gaudy carpet - this venue met all of our requirements! It is simple, clean, and versatile to decorate according to your wedding. The view of the ocean is breathtaking in our photos! All guests complimented our choice of venue. I gave this venue a 4 instead of a 5, because there were black plastic bags filled with sand bordering the property on the beach. The venue explained to us this was the neighbor property's doing and they could not remove them. Some of the sand bags showed up in the background of our photos. The venue could work on an agreement with the neighbors, because this was a bummer to see when we arrived the day before the wedding for our rehearsal. The main reason we chose this venue was for the view and the obvious black bags on beige sand took away from that. Also, due to the location of the venue on PCH, there are no affordable hotels really close by. We booked rooms at a hotel in Agoura Hills and hired a shuttle for our wedding party and hotel guests. read more

This venue was breathtaking when we had our small wedding ceremony and reception there in August. We were able to have both the ceremony and dinner on the ample balcony overlooking the ocean and sun set (which wasn't difficult given we only had 14 guests). There just wasn't anywhere else that had the combination of being right on the beach while still having all of the amenities required to host a sit down dinner without costing tens of thousands of dollars. Christine was a pleasure to deal with. She was friendly, low fuss and had everything organized on the day. We had no issues at all with the venue. She even recommended Pierre's Catering which were stand out performers on the night (lots of compliments on the food!). Overall the venue made our wedding both memorable and pleasurable. I was the DJ for a wedding ceremony and reception at this venue recently. It's a nice venue with an amazing view of the ocean. I don't know if they offer catering services, but my clients had brought in their own caterers and servers. It has a nice layout. It can be touched up a little bit on the inside, but the ocean view more than makes up for it. Parking was not an issue for me at all. The drive is a bit far and winding roads. read more

This venue is very special and I cannot recommend it more highly! Choosing this place was one of the best decisions we made while planning our wedding, and everyone raved about how beautiful it was. It does take a bit more work than some of the venues that offer full food/beverage/etc packages, since you have to bring in your own vendors--but if you're up for that, then it's SO worth it. They have a preferred vendor list which is very helpful. Shout-out to DJ's California Catering and Burlap & Rose (planning/florals) for being GREAT. Jacqui at MWBC was always super quick to respond, and the decor director Christine was very sweet and helpful as well. The venue itself doesn't require much decoration because it's very pretty on its own, so that is a huge plus. Also, the newly renovated bridal suite is very cute and nice to get ready in! Another thing I loved about this place is that you get to take photos on the beach during cocktail hour. Guests seemed to enjoy that because they get to watch you from a distance, which is kind of a fun thing (and you can do the photos relatively quickly because the beach is right there - it doesn't require you to disappear for 2 hours to get your bridal party photos.) If you have a lot of out-of-town guests, one thing to keep in mind is that Malibu is not great for hotels. We decided to put up guests at The Anza Hotel in Calabasas and hired a bus to shuttle guests to and from the venue, which worked out well for our group. Also, we had 95 guests, which felt like a great size for the venue (give or take 30 people would be fine, after that it would be crowded). I thought for a very long time that if I wrote a negative review about my wedding it would tarnish the memory of our wedding day, I loved our wedding and though the venue is beautiful the staff on our wedding day were very undesirable. A year after our wedding I am still thinking about how deeply disappointing the venue was.I would hate for someone else to have the experience that we had. I myself actually work in the wedding industry, and have for several years, which is why I would not write a poor review unless I felt it necessary. I know how special someone's wedding day is, that they pour their heart into having this one special day, and honestly for me, I don't love the memory of when I think of this venue. The day of my wedding, we arrived to chaos, which I thought would be so different. I had the vision of walking in ready to get dressed in the Bridal room with my bridal party and seeing all the tables, florals and all my pain staking planning come together. My husband and I spent months planning and a year and half saving to have our wedding, this was not what I walked into at all. At 2 hours before the wedding nothing was set up. The day of site rep (Mette) has been very unprofessional and troublesome to every vendor causing them delays in setting up everything. She had told my wedding coordinator that the clean up was not provided early at about 12:30 This was a miscommunication, but something we could quickly remedy with hiring someone ASAP, when we suggested this the site rep at the venue said to us "No worries, we will take care of it for you. No need to hire anyone." We would of had this taken care if before photos had even started. This was just the tip of the iceberg with the on site afternoon rep, she was horrible to each vendor, who needed to be setting up tables, florals and decor. This made them run about an hour late. So when the bridal party arrived to the venue everything was in disarray. I can not tell you how upsetting this was to me. Months planning and to show up 2 hours before my wedding having nothing ready. Mette was nasty to my bridal party and my family, they tried to protect me from what was going on and make sure that everything was handled. Well, it wasn't, after she had told my maid of honor, both my sisters and my wedding coordinator that the clean up was "no big deal" that was not true. At some point during the wedding the on site rep changed(Quinton), because I was busy getting MARRIED I did not give much thought to it. However this onsite rep change had no idea what was going on with the clean up at the end of the night. The wedding coordinator I had hired had a team of 2 people who were getting everything we had brought to the venue home, all details that we would be taking back with us. I had spent MONTHS do DIY planting arrangements which I wanted to keep, all of these things were not packed up because of the chaos at the end of the night. My husbands father is a veteran and passed away, we had his flag their to be apart of our "in memory" table, this is beyond valuable to my husband. In the chaos my Mother in law, instead of enjoying the end of our wedding was clutching this flag,realizing it had been forgotten. I have to tell you, that is horrifying to me. The end of my wedding my FAMILY was cleaning and packing up things up, which they should of been on the dance floor. The venue was very disappointing and really pointed the finger and the vendors and took no responsibility. The venue even followed up with my caterer the following day and were very accusatory, blaming the cater for what was not their responsibility and was clearly stated before. This was also mortifying to me because our caters are very professional + experienced and we know them on a personal level, so I know what was said to our cater from the venue was a lie. So embarrassing. The owners of the catering company were guests, nothing was done wrong on their behalf. Our guests who own the company would have seen to it. The venues onsite rep, Mette, also took the list of vendors phone numbers after our wedding and personally called each one harassing them. I sent an email to Jacqui the manager explaining my concerns. After the email was sent we received an apology and we did receive our full deposit back, which I felt was more than fair because we damaged nothing and received no cleaning and did not go over the number of guests. To be honest, in retrospect, I wish I had asked for more of a refund. We worked so hard to save for our wedding and I felt like this venue really did not provide a professional service on our wedding day or really stay organized with us about our vendors and their responsibilities. I fell I would be remiss to not mention the good things. The venue itself is a very lovely on the beach in Malibu, it over looks the water and is a perfect tucked away gem. It is a blank slate, so if you have a vision you can really make it whatever you would like. read more

We can't say enough good things about Jacqui at MWBC. Her level of customer service was outstanding! She always replied quickly and efficiently. Having Jacqui involved in my wedding made me feel calm and organized. The venue remodel that she designed was just in time for our wedding. I loved the color Jacqui picked for paint, the newly remodeled bridal suite is amazing (there is a blow dry bar!) and the upgraded surrounding decor is be beachy and fresh. Attended Malibu West Beach Club for a wedding! Stunning view! I do have to say I don't like the fact there's a volleyball court below but It's a romantic venue yet small and perfect if your planning on having a intimate, summer wedding. The dance floor was the perfect size too. They have this huge open balcony facing the beach. Really beautiful. read more

This spot was awesome. Right above the sand and waves, it is a safe and lovely backdrop. Photos can be taken on the beach, from the beach, from the balcony. The wedding there was heartwarming. The venue went out of their way to open the gate for our car with placard. A problem to get in the wheelchair with the angle of the women's bathroom. But oh what a great space for a wedding! read more

I have DJ'd here many times and I must say this is the best wedding venue in Malibu. I have worked with Jacqui who is the main contact at MWBC. She is so professional and knowledgable and a great person to work with. As far as the venue, the place looks great! Their is a large dance-floor/reception area. They also have extended area in the back for additional guests or cakes/photo-booths/bars etc. The balcony is very large and this is the location for Ceremonies, cocktail hours, and photo booths or bars. As I mentioned the balcony has a great view, and is also perfectly setup for group photos with all the guests and family on the deck and the bride and groom on the beach. This is a very clean location, and I know they take great pride in providing a top tier venue at a very competitive price. Make sure you book them way in advance as their dates fill up really fast. I am honored and touched every time I DJ this venue, and I look forward to a great 2016 providing weddings for my great clients and creating a magical and memorable event! Although there are additional charges to consider such as valet (only one preferred vendor allowed) charges for using outside caterer and for additional hours, we felt the location and service was worth it! read more

Attended another wedding this past Sunday with DMTB - but this time he had to play usher. :\ Not terribly thrilled with that detail - or his other duties as well. In any case, we had to park away from the venue - about a few blocks away. (ew) So, being the gentleman that DMTB was/is, he dropped me off at the entrance, and parked at the designated parking area. The venue itself is cozy, and perfect for a wedding or even a big birthday or another type of party. It's right next to the ocean - I wish I had brought my bathing suit with me. Oh well. Wedding occured outside on the patio - and the seating arrangement was a little odd - it had to be on the diagonal to support all the guests. I ended up sitting behind a pillar. Anyway - once the ceremony was over, there was a "cocktail" hour minus the cocktails. So, it was more like a soda and Crudités hour - because that's what it was. It was to appease the guests while the wedding party took pictures. Tables were already set with full placements - even tho it was a buffet dinner. The thing is that for a buffet - the guests have to LEAVE the dining area from one door into another door to get to the buffet area. hmm - odd planning. The facilities are sufficient. I had no issues of waiting in line to use the restroom. Despite the specific details of the wedding handling, this location is a beautiful spot to host a party/wedding. We had our wedding here July 15. We couldn't have asked for a better venue. It's beautiful. We had 90 people and it was the perfect size (it's best for groups around 100 or less). It's beachy and elegant. All of our guests are still Raving about how beautiful the wedding was. You can choose between their preferred vendors or use any vendors of your choosing for catering, bar, etc. so it's really flexible which is nice. Absolutely loved it! Jacquie is great. Stunning view of the pacific ocean, private beach, airy and intimately designed reception room that tights everything together seamlessly, but what makes this beautiful venue exceptional is their event director Jacqui and her friendly and knowledgeable team!
