I love the arcade here! The fam and I come here frequently on the weekends just to hit up the arcade. The air hockey is fantastic, and worth the tokens as you actually get a decent amount of time to play. They also have a photo booth, how fun for memories! I also recommend the "hand claw game" (is that what you call it? LOL), where no matter what, you get a prize every time! Worth the tokens and fun for the kids. They have a couple of restaurants, one that serves Starbucks frapps, ice cream, and outtakes, popcorn, the usual movie theatre candy and treats. Plan ahead though, as it can take some time to get popcorn. I don't frequent the actual theatres much to watch movies, as I prefer to watch movies at home, but I have been the rare occasion and the seats are cozy. The hubs is a huge movie buff and loves the theatres here. They also have stars and strollers, where you can bring your little ones here, park your strollers and watch a movie in the afternoon with reduced noise. read more

A popular and busy place for moviegoers. As with many other Cineplexes, this one's big and has many facilities. A good variety of concessions and an arcade provide the bulk of entertainment before you head off to watch your film. Inside, you'll get plenty of room, a large screen, and air conditioning. Some of the theatres have reclined seats for even greater comfort. The big screens have truly been a testament to man's ingenuity. Your concessions are overpriced, as is tradition. For over $20, you can get a combo of popcorn, a snack, and a drink. You can get away with much better quality if you decide to dine in first, especially at all the nearby restaurants. Tickets have also been getting more expensive, but I think there's a designated day where you get tickets for $4. I'm afraid you'll have to check it out for yourself; I got the discounted price when watching Barbie on a Sunday, but the following Sunday, I had to get full-priced tickets for Oppenheimer. What you end up with is the typical Cineplex experience; a selection of all the hit movies delivered to you in all its IMAX glory. read more

This is probably a corporate issue and not one with this location. But Avatar 2 was playing in half the theatres and the movie had been out for 4 months. I want to see some of the lower budget movies, but it seems Cineplex is too preoccupied with big budget CGI films that they don't have room for anything else. I wanted to see Renfield and it had only come out 2 weeks earlier but was already out of Cineplex so I had to see it at CineStarz instead. Yet Avatar 2 takes up half the screens for 4 months? That's a bit ridiculous. Also, when I came to see the new Scream, they only had it in 3D, which is a pain as I wear glasses and wearing their tiny 3D glasses over my vision glasses is uncomfortable. And then only 2 scenes in the movie were actually 3D so it was nothiny but a money grab. Staff and amenities are nice. read more

After a few hours shopping up a storm at the Trainyards, I drove over to Scotiabank Theatre to take in a matinee. I went to see Rocketman. I had already eaten lunch, so I took a pass on the popcorn. I still wanted something to drink, as it was a pretty hot day. I got a Diet Coke. I paid for my movie ticket using the Cineplex app. It's fun to show your ticket and go. The downside is if you don't have enough battery power on your phone, you're out of luck. I like this theatre. There are headrests. I liked resting my head against it now and again, to relax. The screen was crisp and large. The sound quality was excellent. There was plenty of legroom. My drink had room in its cup holder, too. It was my second time seeing Rocketman. I loved it again. This is the old silvercity cinema. Brings back a lot of memories, all the time I came here with my friends. I love that they have a little arcade now. Pay 25$ get 40$ worth of playing, most things are 1.50$ to 2$ to play. You collect points that you can use for gifts. I on'y made 45 points... haha I could get a few candy options. I will keep them for later for better gifts. I love that they usually have all the movies in this location. The seats are clean that I also a bonus. Always lots of friendly staff to help you. The movie price has come up quite a lot so I rarely go now. Costs are about 50$ for two people to get 2 ticket some popcorn and a drink. I would recommend coming on Tuesday tickets are almost half price. I have had the chance to try a poutine, its ok. The sauce was hot but the fries tasted old and were cold. Movie time read more

Of the few theatre radio in the south east end of the city this is one of the better locations. It's been fully updated inside so it includes the multitude of snack options such as frozen yoghurt, nachos, alchohol, and of course popcorn along with many more options. This theatre allows you to book your seats in advance plus all the auditoriums include recliner seats! Having those recliners is the best part, it's super comfortable and you don't need to adjust yourself to let those late comers walk by you since there's plenty of room! read more

This might be my new go-to theatre! The seats are comfy and there is free parking right in front of the entrance. I haven't found it too busy here so far, and there is definitely enough seating in the theatre. I do also like the fact that there are many showings at a time, reducing the number of people per show (less packed seating). The concessions have been fresh so far and I haven't had any issue with their soft drinks (I've had issues with the soft drink machine at the Landsdowne cinema on multiple occasions - bad consistency). I've been to many theatres in ottawa such as the coliseum in the west end, the cinema plex in south keys, and the empire theatres in Orleans. The silver city at Gloucester is by far the best of the best! The staff is always friendly and polite. I've never had a bad customer experience and I've gone to this theatre over ten years!! They have a wicked arcade section. I've played a few games. I wish you could just use quarters instead of tokens, but whatever. It doesn't change my experience. The food selection has changed a lot over the years. I remember back in the days they had a Burger King lol. Everyone will complain about the food prices but just eat before you go to the movies and sneak some snacks in the theatre (they never check anyways ). They have the best seats and plenty of leg room, especially when you see a movie in 3D or in IMAX. My favorite spot in at the corner just above the entrance. Perfect with smooching with your partner. Okay, so A SilverCity's a SilverCity I guess, but in terms of other movies theatres in Ottawa, this one's not bad. Every time I've been it's been insanely packed, and I often find it a bit dirty. However, let's get real for a second: they have THE most comfortable chairs of any movie theatre ever in my life. That along might be a reason for me to come here. Leather, reclining and moveable arms to snuggle really make your movie-going experience that much better. So the chairs are the best part about this place. And that they always have a ton of movies playing. The bathrooms are a little icky, and we all know how outrageous the pricing is for food at movie theaters, so I won't harp on that. The staff here are really fun. Charming, friendly and funny, I always have a good customer service experience. Food options are kind of limited - you've got Burger King, Pizza Pizza (well, slices of it anyway, not their whole menu), and the new OutTakes (which replaced NY Fries...breaks my poutine-loving heart) which has hotdogs, chicken nuggets and more bad-for-you food. There's a coffee and frozen yogurt place as well. read more

This experience was most definitely not love! The movie was great; the experience was not. I am not a huge fan of 3D.... read on to find out why. Upside: free tickets for a good movie. Downside: the movie started about 45 minutes later than they said it would; no reflection on the radio stations presenting this movie - it was all security measures that held things up. Good thing the movie was not overly long! Twice we have been to premieres at this theater, and I don't like the way they do it!!! First of all they nearly strip search you for cellphones and any recording devices - they even use one of those staticky wand-like things like security uses at the airport to scan for electronics. Blech! We left our phones locked away in the car! Then the movie was called for 7:00 but really started at about 7:45. And you have to line up to wait to get in to choose your seats. They had us waiting in a hallway that reeked of cigarettes - and we're not smokers! UGGH!!! Other downsides: those comfy chairs that Andrea mentioned in her review? She is so right! However, I did not appreciate the patron sitting in front of me who kept rocking back and forth into my lap! Worse, I'm sure it was him who smelled overwhelmingly of BO! At least, when he left for a few minutes, that odour disappeared with him. I've had better popcorn at other theatres (Ok, the competition in this regard is really stiff: the best popcorn IMHO is made by my hubster, at home! ) The topping offered at the concession was too hot, and made the popcorn soggy. Ewww! REALLY BAD: Coy was so right! And this is one reason I don't love 3D: This movie was offered in 3D; as soon as it started it was showing in double vision, with or without the glasses. The entire audience BOO'ed! LOL! After someone ran out to complain, the movie was stopped and re-started properly. Much better! Pompeii is actually a good movie about a very sad event. I'd love to learn more about that historic city!! One more upside which is on the funny side: This movie theatre has the best toilets of any theatre I have been to! Huge and oh so quiet inside! I found it fairly clean, although some of the tiles looked chipped. But still; single seating large spaces that don't require cubicles as there's only 1 outlet per room. Very private! read more

I've been here twice. They have a lot of fast-food restaurants in the theatre, such as Burger King, Pizza Pizza, and New York Fries, though their menus are limited and seem to only carry the most popular items. The prices are also very high, like you would expect at all movie theatres. The first time I came here was because I won 2 tickets from Paramount Pictures to see a screening of Indiana Jones 4. We thought it was pretty awesome that we were getting to see the movie before it came out in theatres. When we got there, Hot 89.9 and CTV were there for promotions. They were giving away t-shirts and prizes, one of which was won by a man who came dressed as Indiana Jones, head-to-toe - hat, whip, and all. They also had live reptiles for a bit of a Show & Tell kind of thing, where you could pet them afterward. The movie itself was a huge disappointment, in my opinion, but it was a fun time. The second time I was here was just recently to see Inception in 3-D. We were shown an electronic seating chart so that we could pick our seats, and we chose whatever the lady suggested for best IMAX viewing. They called it IMAX 3-D, but it honestly just wasn't. We didn't get the glasses or anything, like some places have. The theatre was definitely set up so that it would be 3-D, but we saw absolutely no difference. The screen itself wasn't great, either. You could even see the dust particles and rips and tears. The movie was fantastic, but we had hoped for a better viewing experience. read more

More of a note to potential movie viewers at this theatre. If you notice your movie does not start or you hear audio but there is no video, you should go immediately to let someone know. They don't have anybody that comes around at show time to ensure things are playing correctly. This has happened the last 3 times I've come to this theatre and if nobody went to let them know we would have missed part of the movie or the movie would never have started. read more

Yikes! Don't go here on a Tuesday!! Or if you do, come prepared ... Tuesday movies are like $5 cheaper than the rest of the week, so this place gets seriously packed. Go early. Really early. The parking lot will be packed and you'll be looking for parking. Then, you'll have to wait in the long line for tickets. Followed by the long line for popcorn and drinks. Plan on getting your seat about 30 minutes ahead of time, especially if you want to have seats together with your friends. Otherwise, it seems like a perfectly good quality theater. It's fairly up-to-date, and about as clean as can be expected. read more

I dont frequent Theaters much, i mean, i probably watch a movie at the cinemas about once a year, or even once every 2 years, but this place was AWESOME! Wifey and I came here during my monthly Canadian vacation to watch Guardians of the Galaxy, in 3D. The tickets werent too expensive, especially for a 3D movie. The venue is incredibly clean, the popcorn was fresh, bathrooms were clean and comfy. and in the actual showroom, it was awesome. i mean the seats have the collapsible arm rest, but its still bulky on the back when you want to cuddle with the Bae. hahaha Bae! LOL but all in all, it was a great experience. Much parking, and easy to navigate through. ill def come by here again. next trip read more

Silvercity Gloucester offers a larger selection of movies than any other Ottawa theatre. They also own the only IMAX in the city, which makes this place a big attraction if a 3-D or big budget movie comes out. Their prices are moderate ($10 for an adult) and they have an arcade and numerous food stands for patrons. However, their staff is usually slow and the location is slightly out of the city, but it can easily be reached by the 417 or Transitway. The major drawback comes when you need to wait awhile before a movie starts. Your options are killing time in the Gloucester Centre or Chapters. I suggest Chapters since there's very little at the mall except Nihao Tea. Probably the most unique feature of this theatre is that it screens Metropolitan Opera performances every other Saturday at noon on their IMAX. They also occasionally air WWE fights and concerts. read more

I was visiting Ottawa specifically to go to SilverCity Gloucester for a Tuesday matinee as they do not have weekday matinees in my home town (unless the schools are out). First of all, it's half price on Tuesday so I expected a big crowd but it was pretty quiet which was nice. Sometimes when I've visited this SilverCity, it's pretty dirty but this particular occasion it was quite clean. Probably as the crowd was smaller. The prices at the snack bar were high but most every theatre I've been to, that's the case. The staff member that serve us seemed a bit like a robot but he was quick and helpful with our order. There is also a Burger King, Pizza Pizza, and a few others on site if you're interested (also at an inflated price). All that stuff is really just extras though, right? The real reason you are coming here is to watch a movie so let's get to the actually theatre. The seats are very comfortable. They even recline a bit and you can raise the arm rests if you wanna get a bit closer to your date. The screen and sound are great. Big sound. Big Picture. On this visit to SilverCity everything went off without a hitch. No problems with sound, picture clarity, technical problems, etc... The theatre room itself was even quite clean. No sticky floor even! The SilverCity Gloucester has 16 screens (including IMAX), an arcade and a kids party room also if you are looking for that sort of thing. In short, If I'm in Ottawa this is usually my theatre of choice. I will often watch movies in my hometown but if they aren't open and I'm really wanting to watch a flick, this is where I head. read more

As movie theaters go, this one is pretty great. Comfy seats, big screens, good sound, and lots of room. It's also in a relatively accessible part of town, so a great place to meet up with friends. It's also surrounded by a couple good restaurants and shops too. As with most theaters, the concession stand is really pricey, but they are part of the Scene movie rewards program so save up and you can get some free popcorn! I don't feel the other reviews do SilverCity Gloucester justice. This is absolutely the staple theater if you live anywhere that might be considered on the east end of town. Orleans now has two other theaters, but I'm pretty sure most people will still go to SC (the empire parking lot is pretty empty whenever I'm back in town). This place is PACKED every Tuesday/Friday during the summer. On multiple occasions, my friends and I have gotten here to see that a movie we didn't expect to be sold out was sold out. There's no better movie theater in Ottawa. SC has the largest selection of movies, and always makes sure that people have a chance to see the blockbusters when they come out by adjusting showings appropriately. For Harry Potter 7 Part 2, they had 5 midnight showings and 20+ showings during the day. Yes, you'll find better theaters in Toronto (a few) and the states, but no way should South Keys have a higher rating than SC Gloucester. In the same block, there's a Future Shop, Chapters/Starbucks, Moxies, Montanas, East Side Marios, and Timmies around where you can hang out before and after the movie. Also doesn't hurt that there's a Bulk Barn across the street and the staff pretty much turn a blind eye when you're bringing in your food =). read more

I've gone to this theatre more than a handful of times in my lifetime and I will probably again. I would say the foyer is rather large- although it appears that they are undergoing some changes (numbering of their auditoriums have some numbers missing). The other day a friend and I had gone to see the spectre James Bond movie... Unfortunately as soon as the music started to play the screen still remained black.. Technical difficulties which lasted until the next screening was about to start at which point (after having made apologies) they suggested we go to the next theatre to continue our viewing... Not an awful theatre- especially since it isn't always frequent that these things happen (although handled relatively well) it was just inconvenient to have to get home especially late... read more

Silver City has become my families defacto movie theatre, better then South Keys in every aspect including more comfortable seats, cleaner theatres and hall ways and a better experience all around, combine that with the choice of restaurants in the mall and it makes for a wonderful night out read more

OMG!!! This theatre used to be pristine and tonight my friend and I almost got sick. I had dropped something on the floor during the movie and when the lights came on I took a flashlight and started looking on the floor for the item and what I saw was so disgusting!! Dried up food and dried up which looked like blood, not sure what it was and it was all in the back of the seat on the floor...we looked in a few other areas and it was appalling the filth. It wasn't just new dirt.Great breeding ground for bugs. It was old food and dirt.It was encrusted on the floor and had been there for awhile..I'm sure there's roaches in there. There has to be.Would be surprised if there wasn't. There was a bug flying around during the movie and it's almost the end of Oct.Must be breeding in there. I cringe to think that during this movie underneath my chair was absolute filth and I was eating.After seeing that I won't go in there anymore and I'm a regular.What a turn off!The whole place is grungy..We talked to someone before about the dirt and was told that they only clean thoroughly at the end of the night but like I said this dirt was old dirt encrusted into the floor and the flooring around the seats. Carpets look greasy. No wonder the lights are always dimmed.The staff is great at the concession and the people taking the tickets. read more

Have been coming to this location my whole life & I always have fun when I come here. My only complaint would be the cleanliness of the place... the counter where you get butter, straws & napkins looks like it's all just covered in butter or grease. The washrooms were also very dirty when I went. Also when I was waiting in line to get pop corn it was really busy. There was two or three staff members behind the snack bar doing nothing, just talking the whole time and didnt help speed up the busy flow of customers. read more

I worked at Silver City for a few years. Their service is centered around making you "feel" well treated. You'll notice most cast members (yes, that's what they call employees) will get down on their knees to appear to be helpful, when in reality they rarely give a dime about your concerns. I'm not generalizing. You may get a manager, but not before holding up the line for 10 minutes. Get seats to a new movie a half hour early for Tuesdays (it's half price) Fridays and Saturdays I would recommend you get seats 20 minutes ahead of time. That'll leave you plenty of time for food line ups that build up massively before showtimes start. Also to deal with deciding on the outrageous upselling techniques and maticulously assembled "combos" designed to save you barely a dollar (literally) Don't let them up-size you unless you really want to eat or drink it all. Their sizes are massive. If you don't LOVE popcorn, buy a small. Everyone leaves their full bags on the floor at the end of the movie. On top of that, employees make commission from selling combos and up-selling. Just don't go for it. Their new reclining seats are also a bit sad. The armrests go up for "cuddling" but because they recline, the armrest is still in the way. If you weigh more than 150 pounds, you'll be reclined the whole movie, mostly bothering the people sitting behind you. All in all, they have the newest movies, offer iMax and screenings for hearing impaired with a decent amount of showtimes. Across the street there's a Bulk Barn (get your candy there, they can't stop you from bringing in outside food at this theater). Also a Starbucks and a Chapters across the parking lot, and a few good restaurants, like Casey's that offer dinner and movie deals. read more

I go to movies here all the time. It's a standard sort of mega theater. The theaters themselves are usually clean and have comfortable seating, even for bigger bodies. They have good accessibility for the disabled as well. The prices are as to be expected at any other place. I have a few complaints about this theater, though. I've seen a few big roof leaks happen when there have been heavy rain storms. Not a fan of that, and I hope the issue is addressed promptly. The other is that ordering concessions can be counter intuitive. There is a main section where you can theoretically order from smaller food places further out around the periphery of the main hall. The menus located higher up aren't very clear, and I've ordered things before and have received the same order made in completely different ways. For example, I'd ordered pretzel bites before, and sometimes they will include a dipping sauce and other times not. If you ask for it when they don't give it to you, someone may or may not demand extra payment for it. No matter what the response is, I've found the basic attitude that "this is the way you get it whether you like it or not" from some of the servers. I could probably accept that just fine if I was consistently told the same thing each and every time, but such is not the case. In the end though, it's a movie theater, and it's not the nice vintage indie type ones with amazing popcorn, either. It's corporate, standardized, and does its job as well as it does. This theater is probably my second choice for new movies. I definitely prefer sticking in Orleans close to home where it is not as busy. This movie theatre is alright. It's got everything you could want/need and lots close by it just is pretty busy and the popcorn isn't my favourite. I feel like it is often a bit dirty because it is always so busy. I am just spoiled by having a newer theatre closer to home whose popcorn I prefer. Really this place isn't bad at all. If you have a scene card don't forget to bring it or have the app ready to collect your points and download the other app that I can't recall it's name so you can play the trivia game and win extra scene points at the beginning of your movie. I dislike that it is two apps and always fighting for storage in my phone I delete the trivia one until next time I end up going there. read more

I was not impressed. I recently went to see Tron in IMAX 3D. Being that this is the only Cineplex IMAX screen, and had the best showtime, I was happy to see it. The theatre's sound is excellent, but I've certainly been to better visual IMAX experiences in Toronto. The screen felt smaller than the usual IMAX, and the quality wasn't great. What REALLY bothered me was there were flies in the projection room! We would regularly see flies land, crawl and disappear on the screen. It was very distracting. This is my personal favorite cinema. There is a good selection of food, including pizza and gourmet popcorn! There is an arcade for entertainment, which I think is cute for playing games. The main area is quite big, and often very empty. Auditoriums are good, there is lots of space and comfortable seats. The location is ok, it's a little far but there is lots of things (Like a walmart and Subway) nearby at the Gloucester center. Do go check this place out! read more

This theatre is just like your regular super theatre, my only complaint is that the place is generally dirty I also had to sit beside a 300 pound smoker who had an awful cough but I can't blame that on the theatre. I usually go to the Coliseum in the west end and it is by far the best in Ottawa, clean, great sound, amazing huge seats, and great staff. read more
