However, they've recently impressed me even more by fixing my old baseball glove. I recently broke one of laces in the webbing and I wasn't looking forward to breaking in a new glove. That's when I remembered that my Dad used to bring his and my gloves to the local shoemaker who had the tools to replace broken leather webbing and laces. Sure enough, Watt's is not only a terrific local shoe store, but can also fix a baseball glove too.

They're not a clothing item that I'm prepared to wear down to the shops, but they sure are awesome for walking around in the kitchen. I mean, the weird thing is, and the reason I do still visit this shop, is because they almost make the kind of shoes I like but there's something so amiss about their designs. It always looks to me that they're a high street store copying high fashion shoes and not quite getting it right. No one expects the quality to be up there with the high fashion stuff, but it all looks a bit cheap to me, which would be perfectly fine if it was all cheap, but it's not. Most of their heels fall between $100 to $200, and of course, it's a bit more for boots. For that kind of price tag, I'd rather shop at Nine West. The thing I love the most about Rekaris is the passion they have for shoes. When I brought in those tainted suede heels, the gent behind the counter gave them a once over, shook his head and said; "Jackie... what did you do to these?!" Prices are reasonable and service is polite and good humoured. It's a bit out of the way for me so I recently tried a shoe repair place in my neighbourhood rather than take the train to the CBD. I haven't gotten the shoes back yet so can't testify to the quality of the repairs but they were way more expensive then Rekaris. Whenever I pick up a new pair of boots, usually a market find, they tend to need re-soling. This is when I pop don to the little old man at Boronia Shoe Repairs. A true cobbler, straight out of a fairy tale, he does amazing work on shoes and costs half as much as a new pair of boots would normally cost. His store is tiny, with a collection of shoes on sale, and he works out back by himself, tinkering away at your shoes like a labour of love. I have recommended his work to all of my friends, and I now pass on that recommendation to you.
