Circle Yoga Shala is an Internationally Accredited Yoga Therapy School.
We offer 200RYT and 500RYT teacher trainings, and an 800 hour Professional Yoga Therapy program.
Experts in the subtle mechanics of movement, breath and the science of adaptation to individual uniqueness, we employ the great triad of approaches to yoga: that of service (Karma/Seva), of discernment and clear seeing (Jnana), and of devotion (Bhakti). The Shala is one of the few places to have held on to the breadth and depth of this traditional triune perspective.
We have also developed a movement culture free from dogma for the sheer joy and presence of movement.
In addition, we provide immersion opportunities at nominal fees by incorporating the principles of Seva, conscious labor, to offset teaching costs and accommodations.
We are only "open" during our training programs. That said, we are happy for you to visit, just please call first!
History
Established in 2009.
We began in June 2009 with raw land, a hammer, a little cash and a lot of passion. We had sold everything including an established business and began without even knowing our new business name. We only knew we wanted to create something that was not happening elsewhere, to our knowledge: a place where practitioners could truly immerse in practice, community and nature. First things first, we acquired some tools, started a garden, and began tearing apart a barn that had been home for chickens & geese for over 20 years, so we were told. The barn houses teachers-in-training and also provides our teaching space. The property now consists of expanded gardens, an orchard, outdoor yoga pavilion, a crystal yurt, horses, edible flowers and herbs, 2 small sleeper cabins, chicken coup, hiking trails & stone patios. What is being repeatedly lived, and learned on ever deeper levels of understanding, is a 'surrendered life' to what is.
Meet the Business Owner: Holly and Matthew K.
Our work has been a crucible of convergence between eastern and western models of the human system. We have primarily studied the techniques of Viniyoga as the template for organizing strategies and approaches to working with private clients. From it, we received the teachings of Vinyasa Krama, the Pancha Maya Model, and the 5 Vayus. Vinyasa Krama is the template which guides the direct application of techniques, & the Pancha Maya model determines the scope of values that must be addressed if we are to understand therapeutic intervention in terms of a primordial wholeness. An understanding of the Vayus gives us a testable model of the movement of life energy. It is these models along with Ayurveda, Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and the Vedas that formulate the basis of our teachings and teacher training programs.
