I LOVED this show! I've seen Cirque du Soleil one other time - in Las Vegas in 2009 I saw "O" at the Bellagio. It was a good show - but I thought Quidam was much better. I was entranced from the start to the finish. It ran at about two and a half hours I believe with a 20 minute intermission about 1 hour in to the show. We had seats fairly close to the front and had a good view from our vantage point. The performances were amazing. There was a silk dancer, rope dancers, tons of acrobatics, a guy with a nifty metal hoolahoop thing that he did several cool tricks with, jump rope acrobatics, etc. It was fantastic. Absolutely amazing!!! This review does no justice. You have to go see this show. At first I wasn't aware of what I was going to experience so I took it to YouTube to give me a few minutes of examples. At that point I was crazy excited to see this live. I loved how the performers engaged the crowd. At times the show were comedic, romantic and for the majority of the performance I was sitting at the edge of my seat. These super hero like athletic performers know how to put on one heck of a show. When you're 30 or 40 feet in the air swinging around on a curtain or rope doing flips and turns there's something to be said. If you're afraid of heights like me you'll know that nervous feeling you get in your feet when you're looking down just a few stories...this performance had that nervous feeling going up my legs and making my palms sweat. Yes, I was nervous watching (an amazed nervous if that makes sense) and there were a few times throughout the show I swear I was drooling while watching. Here's how I describe this: breathtaking, adrenaline rushing, scared (why? they're the professionals), nervous, jaw dropping, drooling, amazing, athleticism...the list goes on. Expect all of this and more: flips, jump roping, hanging from curtains, swinging, rope climbing, an exhibition showing off pure strength and laughter. I'm even missing a few things on this list. Oh...the music is live! That alone is worth going. It really is off the hook!!! And acrobats performing to music? It can't get any better than that. I can't pick a favorite performance of the night but one thing that I know everyone enjoyed was the filming act where the performer grabbed four people in the crowd to assist him play out a scene. When the audience participants weren't following along he made fun of them and had the entire crowd laughing. For sure I will be coming back to future performances and when I'm in Vegas for a business trip in September I'll make it a point to see this performance on their grand stage. I loved every moment of this performance. I sure do hope the guy whose popcorn was taken from him received another bag. It was part of the opening act that started the evening off with several laughs. I'm sure that makes no sense. That's why I recommend you see this while they're in town. read more

I was confused when I watched this show. In drama class we had a sub and my teacher left this play for us to watch in class a while ago, it scared me because I had no idea what we were watching or what it was about and we aren't really I guess the right age to have been watching it. I didn't understand what language was being spoken so I didn't know what was going on and assumed what was happening in the show and so was the rest of the class. It wasn't summarized or explained to us beforehand because our sub never watched it before either. So, we mostly assumed that this girl escaped being used to make the guy in the purple suit money and attention and was making them do inappropriate stuff and making money off of that, and in between scenes he shows off his different tricks and getting attention, and it made me agitated. But if I did know what was going on it would've been better because later that day I google searched it and it was completely different play than I had thought so I think this play is very unique and nice. I recommend if you are going to watch this play that you find out what it is about first. Lots of kids in my class were getting uncomfortable in some scenes, so I don't really recommend this for kids. read more

Xerxes' review provides a pretty good recap of why he was drooling throughout this show, Troy concisely describes the adrenaline rush as a spectator, and Yajaida provides a great summary of what you'll experience. What's left? Once the lights go out, the absolute indulgence in visual and auditory artistry will mesmerize you until the lights come on. With the possible exception of seeing the shuttle system used for the acrobatics, the senses completely embrace the imaginative scenes built around some truly amazing physical feats. The characters were great, the tension between acts relieved by an Urkel-esqe MC and the cover character (Quidam?), and the musicianship outstanding. It's just a supremely well-done bit of fun that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats and through myriad emotions. ENJOY!!!! And, please do leave the babies at home!!! read more

I have to say I was disappointed with this show. It was a good show; however, not near as good as the other two shows I have seen thus far - Ovo and Mystere. The stage appeared very far away from what were supposed to be decent seats; it was hard at times to tell what was going on. I agree with other reviewers in that I think the tent setting would have made it better versus the spacious Cow Palace. I also agree the story was hard to follow. I don't like to read anything about the shows before going, in the hopes that nothing will be spoiled. I understood the storyline after reading it via web after the show, but felt lost during the show. The venue also got quite hot at times. Overall, the show didn't quite have the wow factor I was expecting from seeing the other shows. The performances seemed to drag on at points, the synchronicity was off, the originality was lacking, and although the audience participation was entertaining, it went on for longer than it should, given the price paid to see the Cirque performers. I do love Cirque performances, and will continue to see as many shows as possible in the future; this show will not deter me from that. read more

The Show: There are two ways for me to compare the show. One is to compare it to other general forms of entertainment. The second is to compare it to the other Cirque du Soleil show that I've attended. In general, it was very entertaining. It was not as amazing as Cirque du Soleil Corteo. Compared to other forms of theatrical entertainment. It was entertaining. There were some legitimately funny segments. and some of the circus feats were breathtaking. However, the show was inconsistent in both. Some of the humorous parts just fell flat. The audience participation segments were the funniest. With the feats, some were truly amazing (the girls with yoyos, the girl on the ribbon, the tossing of people). The man and woman balancing on each other. Others were repetitive and boring. This included the first one with the guy inside of the large wheel. It seems that this has been done before. The same can be said of the girl posing on the stands. Compared to Corteo, it was a bit of a let down. In Quidam, the story was less defined. If Corteo was a 100 (and it was definitely close), then Quidam was a 70. Corteo was eye-popping and breathtaking from front to back. Also, it seemed more rehearsed and that everyone was in sync. Plus, the secondary players seemed to be more into their performances. Whereas, in Quidam, at times, secondary performers seemed to be less synchronized and also seemed to be just going through the paces. The consistency of the wow factor in Corteo simply surpassed Quidam. Also, the circus tent venue motif of Corteo far surpassed the arena presentation of Quidam. The Venue: I have to take into account the venue. Cirque du Soleil is out of place at the Cow Palace. The Cow Palace is a relic suited for events that are simply unworthy of finer venues. Maybe cock fighting, tobacco spitting contests, or put in a frozen pond and host some curling. The folding chairs are a joke. The best seats are folding chairs lined on a flat floor. I am a large person. I felt so bad for the children seated behind me. I tried to sit as low as I could and this made sitting in the no lumbar folding chairs even more uncomfortable. This is not what you expect when you spend over $100 per ticket. I was also very surprised that the Cow Palace was less than half full. Using a bit of a pun, hosting Cirque du Soleil at the Cow Palace was a little bit like hosting a black tie shindig in a barn. Overall: Out of the potential things that you could be doing on a given night, the entertainment value of Quidam is going to surpass most of them. It was compelling and fun. There were certainly moments that you watched in awe. Just because it is not the best Cirque du Soleil does not mean that it isn't worth venturing out to see. But if you had tickets to last nights Giants-Dodgers game, there is no need to kick yourself for not selling your tickets and seeing Quidam. read more

My first Cirque Du Soleil Experience.. Overpriced food & Drinks, to be expected. Snobby couple fighting on our right. Children yelling and shouting behind us. Tall guy in front of me.. :x Wish the seating was arranged better, I had boxed seats so the elevation from row to row was not a big enough difference. But there's not much to be done about that. Viewing was kind of difficult from the side because the stage was so long, and there was a lot going on at once, I wasn't sure what to look at, so I'd miss a few things here and there. I'm sure the view was spectacular from the front though. The show started out on time, and there were characters from the show going into the audience to mess around before hand. It was pretty funny. Story line was alright... I caught myself getting bored every now and then. They would start every act and build on it, with the end doing something that wowed the audience. But nothing really blew me away. There was no particular act that amazed me. But I enjoyed the show, but don't think it was worth getting the box seats, I would have been happy with the seats in the far back, because being up close really didn't change the experience at all, and actually made me feel like I wasted my money bit, because it wasn't as spectacular as I thought it'd be. :/ read more

I agree with some of the viewers in here, that Quidam is kind of not what you expect. Of course, I should have gone ahead and researched what Quidam really is about before walking in and just assuming things. Please keep in mind, that traveling Cirque shows will not be as awe-inspiring and mystical as its established non-traveling counterpart. However, there are just some things about Quidam that was a bit disappointing. Overall, I would still say go ahead and see Cirque du Soleil - Quidam. However, don't spend too much money on the seats - I suggest somewhere in the middle section so you can get a better value for your money (and eat outside before heading in, the food and drinks are overpriced as usual). A few highlights: Diabolos German Wheel Statue - La Vision Banquine And of course the comedy acts that pepper the show. The Cloud Swing is amazing as well (of course). The part about Quidam that may give the audience a more conflicted opinion is that it's one of the darker Cirques. To sum it up, if no one minds, is that Quidam is about freeing your soul and letting your individuality out. I suppose breaking from the crowd, you could say and finding yourself. Hubby and I made a pact that we will go to all Cirque shows in SF. This is probably our 6th? show. Quidam is the first SF show we watched that's out of the tent. Although I like the feeling that tent gives to the show, the seats were definitely better at the Cow Palace. For the second time (besides "O" in Vegas) I was comfortable watching Cirque. I'm not sure why the other reviews didn't give this show a good rating. It may not be as fancy with the costumes and stage but the show was great. It was entertaining and simple. I actually understood the story line this time. :o) I do appreciate the stunts and artistic work.... just like every Cirque show has. read more

I've seen about 2-3 other smaller Cirque du Soleil shows and this was the latest I've seen, but not my favorite so far. I forgot the others, I should have kept a note of them. It wasn't as great as the much bigger shows I know they put on. This was so-so, kind of boring, especially the last half of the performance. The venue, however is the nice Citizen's Business Bank Arena that's very close to where I live, which is half the reason I went. One thing I don't care for with all the cirque shows is the audience participation during the beginning/intermissions. read more

Unfortunately, the cavernous, concrete Long Beach Arena murders a lot of the shows intimate, personal magic. Just saw Quidam at Cow Palace & this was my 1st non-tent show in SF. We've been to Vegas & are very familiar w/ theater setups but our SF shows have always been under the Big Top & this has relevance for me. Have to say the lack of tents made for a not as pleasurable an experience.....took the mystery out of going to the performance. For some reason, walking into those blue & yellow swirly tents was like transporting to another dimension & another world & we knew we'd be in for a magical evening Not so much at the dank, cavernous, concrete Cow Palace. And the vendors at Cow Palace? (that's another review...) Pluses for Quidam: Storyline was easy to follow - a little girl is bored & transports to another world where she encounters tumblers & whatnot Minimal clown! This is big for me as I come to Cirques to be amazed by death-defying feats of acrobatics, not see someone get beaten over the head w/ a rubber steak. Props for minimal clown! Athletes were more of the "core-strength" variety. You'll see no Firey Wheel Of Death here but you will see balancing, juggling, and tumbling galore & the muscle it takes to perform these feats - impressive! Music was Klezmer-like & we dug it. Costumes were the usual Cirque awesomeness - more minimalistic than other shows we've seen but didn't make them any less impressive From the people sitting beside us, we learned this show used to be under a Big Top - hopefully it will be again in the future cause I'm a fan! read more

Quidam is definately on the bottom of my Cirque Du Soleil list. It was slow, I missed the tent because the cow palace was way too big and it lacked the intimiate ambiance of being engulfed in a tent. The stadium was warm. We bought seats in the side skirt and its true that we get the nosebleed seats but you can relocate yourself if see vacant seats and if the attendants arent watching you closely. We end up sitting in the 2nd tier (instead of the 3rd) which was pretty awesome. We thought about sneaking front and center but the side dress seats were just fine with a great view. Overall, it was a good show and there were a few amazing acts and some acts that were prolonged if not repetetive. The entire show gave a mournful and slow vibe that just dragged on. I thought the audience participation from this particular show was pretty great. The music was also pretty good. A few tips: The show is 2.5 hours (including a 20 min intermission), the parking lot is $20 for guests that want to park right in the front and $15 for parking a little off the the side. There's plenty of free parking on the streets so I would save my money. They dont allow cameras and bottled water and will check your bags, but not thoroughly. The will call center is to the far left inside the building, so dont be a fool like me and wait in the wrong line. None of the long lines are will call lines. read more

WOW!!! What an ass clencher!!! What I mean by that is the entire time the cirque performers were flipping and twirling from 50ft above barely hanging to anything but a red curtain, you couldn't have fit an ant through my bunghole almost the whole time! You know, these guys blatantly risked their lives to entertain us tonight---you have to give 5 stars for that and they truly deserve it. This was my first time at a Cirque du Soleil show. I was incredibly impressed. The precision, the strength, the control...wow, I am so envious and struck with awe. And they just keep giving it to you. It wasn't like just a couple of impressive acts with some acting in between, it was like wham, bam, can't even breathe again and again. I think I need a massage after this because I was just on edge the whole time. I kept thinking I would have to run to the stage at any minute because surely that chick is going to fall from the ceiling and break her neck. I highly recommend you go buy tickets while they are still in town...just a few more days. It is money well spent! And for God sakes people, don't bring your baby!--LOL read more

I'd like to start by clarifying a few points about Quidam as seen in the other reviews. For starters, Quidam has been reformatted to fit into an arena, as all new Cirque shows are required to do. This enables the crew to travel to smaller areas where a tent show would not sustain a 4+ week run. Of course you lose some of the awe and magic you'd get from seeing this in the grand chapiteau, but that reason is valid. I will say, that a very good show that was produced was Delirium as it was set up for the arenas, and it was magical. Even without the grand chapiteau, this was absolutely amazing, especially considering it was specifically designed for arenas, and not a "convertible" format show for areans and the tent. Secondly, touring shows can not be compared to resident shows where the theaters are custom-built for the show--and done so in the millions of dollars. There just isn't any comparison from a technical perspective. As for Quidam, this is one of Cirque du Soleil's darker shows. This was a trend back in the mid-90s as Alegría is a similarly dark show, but not to the extent of this show. I will say though, that having seen Alegría, I think its format fits slightly better into an arena stage than that of Quidam. Now, as for the actual review itself of the show. I feel for the team, as having to pick up your life and move every week (or maximum every two weeks) can be very stressful, and you can see how it has certainly taken a toll on some of the performers. Diabolos: The costumes were somewhat out of place, even though I like them better than the original enfants d'acier. Which is another point, these performers are no longer "enfants" by any means. One artist dropped her spindle twice and didn't catch the rod another time. The first time was fairly unnoticeable, but the second time when she was performing solo and sent the spindle flying off the stage, albeit humorous to see, did slow the vibe down. I did like how a second artist immediately stepped in and did the trick over and flawlessly I might add. To much surprise, my friends and I enjoyed this act almost most of all. Cloud Swing: I was completely shocked that the first trick the performer pulled was a complete miss. I was ever so happy she caught the rope, but was wondering how she was going to recover for the rest of the act. Her confidence boosted back up and she performed the rest fairly on point, although I think her best trick was doing a back-tuck and sticking it cleanly on the rope. Jump Ropes: I can understand this act not going smoothly because it's performed by artists from most of the other acts. They aren't jump rope "experts" if you will, and so I can expect a couple of restarts (3 or 4 actually). It was also sad to see that only one artist was the main performer when I was expecting two. The one disappointing thing that did happen was the trick when there were 3 sets of rope that he was going to be jumping in, yet missed the first step, and so ditched the outer most ropes so only did the trick inside two. I thought why not reset? You guys did before, and it easily would have been the best trick. Banquine: Flawless. This was my first time seeing Banquine live, but I must say that many of the flyers were really young, and so some of the tricks weren't as spectacular as what they could be. Watch the Zed routine and you'll see what I mean. Stunning! That's what I was expecting... I did, however, still enjoy it. Sound Technicians: This was rather inexcusable in my eyes, but during the Statue act, the sound technician started the wrong track. I know things happen, but it completely offset the mood of this very slow, breath-taking act. Even with the flaws, I still enjoyed this darker side of Cirque. I also loved it that my friend was the one who got whisked away backstage and put into one of the white biohazard suits! For some of you, this isn't the Cirque du Soleil show you should see. If you have yet to see a show in the grand chapiteau, see that first. (Totem is coming soon!) Even see a show in Vegas, and you'll understand the skills and management taken to perform these production up to 8 times a week. If you are going to watch Quidam, just take into account the differences of seeing this in an arena versus the grand chapiteau. read more

The Quidam show was great!. First one I have seen but I have seen similar types of acts. The acrobatics were unbelievable and full of danger. The show was surprisingly funny and had plenty of humor for adults as well (not that it's a children's show but it is family oriented) I would recommend it to any age group. read more

I have been a long standing fan of Cirque du Soleil and my passion was ignited when I saw the touring show for Quidam. It reached out to the inner socialite inside me and impressed me with all of the shows artistic subtleties. This is the new circus - intelligent, thought provoking, and entertaining. As we watch this young girl Zoé escape into the world of imagination, she is joined by joyful and mysterious characters. Watching the acts come in and out, followed by an over-sized red balloon floating about and a scary man with large boxing gloves names "Boum Boum" mocking the whole event, you'll enjoy the show even more if you watch closely. Out of the 9 or so acts in the show, three really stand out above the rest. The Skipping ropes routine drew inspiration from dance, acrobatics and the art of manipulation. As the ropes flow by at sometimes unreasonable speeds, a group of 20 well coordinated acrobats perform solo, duo and group jumps. The Statue act featured two extremely strong performers that lift and pose each other into positions that require balance and expertise. Get your mind out of the gutter people! They are showcasing the beauty of the human body and it's limits of strength. Next was the amazing but never forgotten Banquine. The acrobats flings and catch each other in the air and landing on arms and shoulders in synchronized movements. You literally hold your breath as they stick their landings high above the stage. Cirque du Soleil is a well-oiled machine of acrobatics and artistry that taps into your imagination. Quidam will leave you in awe, even if it doesn't end up as your favorite show. read more

If you have ever been to any of the Cirque du Soleil shows in Vegas, whether you liked it or not, you have to check out at least one of the traveling ones. The biggest difference between the two is that Vegas shows rely more on the extravagant stage design and high tech stuff whereas the traveling shows do not have a nice stage but focus more on the circus stunts. Quidam is one of my favorite Cirque du Soleil as of now. (Well, I have not been to many...only a couple others before this) I couldn't make any of the Long Beach shows last week so I'm glad they are showing it in Ontario this week. They're only here from April 27 to May 1 so hurry and book tickets if you have not! I booked my ticket through Goldstar and the seats were excellent. We were facing the middle of the stage and in the mid-lower section so we were low enough to see the faces of the performers on stage and high enough to see the performances "flying" around. One good thing about the Citizens Business Bank Arena is that it was FREE PARKING. The arena is also fairly new so the seats are comfortable, the restrooms are clean, and plenty of parking. One thing is that no camera is allowed in the arena. Camera flash will distract the performers so I left my camera in the car; hence, no pictures to upload. I thought the show was well put together. Without spoiling the show: The background story is about a young girl named Zoé who was bored on an ordinary evening and her parents ignored her so she travelled to an imaginary world of Quidam...and that's when the stunt acts begin...There was a good variety of acrobatics such as swings, jump ropes, swirling in the big German wheel, aerial hoops, aerial contortion, the yo-yos, the statues, and banquine - which wowed the audience when they swing the little girl around and she was able to pose and balance. Besides the acrobatic acts, there were a couple of clown acts in which a few audience members were selected to participate. I thought they were pretty funny and the selected audience in my show played very well. However, I think some lasted a little too long....I was anxious to see more stunts! Without the extravagant stage design like those of the Vegas shows, I thought the stage for Quidam was very nice and appropriate for this show. They also rely on the back curtains to be used as the projector screen. The sound/music was put together very nicely. It gave the show a little mysterious feel and illuminated the climax of each act. Other things such as the costume, the set design for each act, the characters, and performers' make-up were also done very well for a traveling show. I like Quidam and I think this gives me a good reason to check out more Cirque du Soleil shows. read more

Art is always open to interpretation, especially DARK arts, and Quidam is no show for kids. (SUICIDE? Too much to grasp at a young age) The whole show has a dreadful feel to it, which is fine with me. In fact, out of all the Cirque Du Soleil shows I've seen, this is one of my favorite storyline. My problem is with the ACTS of the show. Mediocre is an understatement, I was sourly disappointed. Some of the acts were so boring that it made the whole thing slow to me. Too many mistakes. I understand we are all human, I understand we all make mistakes but this is Cirque Du Soleil and I have high expectations, even for a traveling show. read more

This show is about a girl who let's her imagination take over when she's ignored by her parents. A little bit of context will help frame the often chaotic acts throughout. Some might find scenes nightmarish, slapstick, tense, or sensual. The performance is that and more with the live music helping you feel it all intensely. I'm sure you'll find reviews to be littered with death defying drops and the silliest of comedies. My personal favorites were feats of balance and strength. In what I will refer to as the marriage scene, a couple moves together in a slow dance that had me completely mesmerized. There are too many other performances to relate them all here, and I couldn't do them justice if I tried anyway. The stage was literally spinning and my eyes darted all over trying and failing to take in every bit of magic. The show was awe inspiring in the very best sense. I held my breath, I leaned in, sometimes I lost my mind. The hubs still professes Ka to be the penultimate show and comparatively, Quidam did not measure up. I argued that the story is entirely different and that this is a traveling show. He countered it's Cirque du Soleil, not Cirque du So-lite. We have to agreed to disagree. This is how they describe the show on the website, and it's fitting; though to experience the mysticism live lends the story so much more than words could truly say. To me, it was much like Alice Though the Looking Glass, only this time Alice (or rather Zoé) pulls her disillusioned parents in with her to the other side. Through magickal wonders and awe-inspiring adventures, the family is made whole again as they rediscover themselves as a family unit. /sigh. Such a compelling story told in the most amazing ways. The C. treated me to my first ever Cirque show, and we went to the one at the HP Pavilion in San Jose instead of the Moo Palace. This was good, as I didn't wish to spend the show thinking about RV's where I was sitting. I'd have to say my most favourite part was the gentleman with the bald head and the hat, and he had two acts in the show - a date with a lovely lady in audience, and again making a film with 4 wonderful and brave audience members. He was quite the delight, and I laughed much from his antics. The character with the boxing gloves reminded me of my ex-boyfriend. They looked alike, make-up and all. Scary! Now I'm hooked. Like all the other Cirque Du Soleil shows, this one had a strange storyline. They're usually really abstract but I get the gist of it... Not this one. Lost girl in a yellow raincoat and red balloon? No idea... The music was beautiful as always and the performers were utmost talented. It was slow moving and a few scenes made me yawn. The last 3 were by far the best. I think if they moved those 3 into Kooza (which seeems to be one of my faves out of the 8 I've seen), the show would be breathtaking. I was disappointed that this took place at Cow Palace. The stage seemed off and everything was really far away. Their traveling tents normally accommodated a more intimate setting for the audience. Quidam was incredible! Totally ethereal and completely engaging! There are multiple scenes going on during the performances and each scene keeps wondering what will happen next. The actors/ acrobats make something that looks humanly impossible not only look possible, but easy. My DH and I had fabulous seats and would go back in a heartbeat. The music pulls you into that world... its fantastic. Sometimes hard to understand whats happening but that's a draw of it to me... strange... unknown, seductive and dangerous. Sometimes nightmarish sometimes a trance, Quidam is all of this. I had no expectations going into it , however all of they would have been exceeded regardless. From the Woman in the red banner, to the acrobatic act in the second half the risk and skill which which these performances are done is both a labor of love to the participants and a privilege to see with your own eyes. I rarely hand out 5 stars , but this would be a travesty not to. On a less serious note im sure the pure humping power behind that stage is ridiculous ,I mean some of the stuff going on on that stage... makes you wonder how they find time to do anything past walk around naked and in amazement of their own awesomeness. :P read more

A show that should not have been missed. I was glad that I was able to go and see this show. I've seen a few back west in Las Vegas and this one was right on par with them. The seats my party got were in the 3rd section, so the highest. Even though it was the highest, it was nice because we got a full overview of the entire show. All of the performers were on point and did some crazy stunts and acts. The only thing I could say about Quidam was the storyline was just a tad hard to follow, but it was made up for the performances done. read more

I absolutely LOVE Cirque du Soleil shows!!! The acrobats & music are always AMAZE! I think Quidam was the 3rd Cirque show I saw and out of the 5 I have seen (so far), this remains my all time favorite! I saw it in 2005 (or 2006) under the Big Top by the Queen Mary. I really loved the story of this show, the playfulness was fun! I remember wanting to see the show again as soon as it was done. Don't get the Most expensive seats becuz you'll end up with a sore neck, the folding chairs are very uncomfortable and you had to look between people in front of you...I almost feel like my body was stuck in a S shape. We complained and were luckily relocated to the 1st row of the arena seatings...WHAT A DIFFERENCE...we had unobstructive view, very comfortable seating, and totally enjoyed the 2nd half of the show... read more

If you are reading this on 4/13 you still have time to get tickets to the Sunday show. You need to do it. I have wanted to see a Cirque du Soleil show for years. This was our first time and we will never miss it again. I can't do a better review than the previous 5 star reviews, I wish I could give it a six. I've actually enjoyed the show a lot, though I heard some complaints about it being slow. Quidam in my opinion, is better than Ovo. Ovo was more for kids. I do think that maybe having it in a tent would be better and much more intimate. But I cannot complain since we did get some pretty good seats and I didnt even pay for it. The story was a little hard to understand, but I never understood any of them anyways. I came with no expectations and left with satisfactions. I haven't watched "O" in vegas yet, and not planning to until the end so I wouldnt have to compare it to something that is flawless. read more

This is the first time I've been to a Cirque show outside of Vegas. I have to say I really enjoyed it. While I didn't really understand all of it or the implied story/meaning behind some of the scenes, it was still very enjoyable none the less. If you enjoy acrobatics and theatrics you would do yourself a favor and attend a viewing of this. read more

Love cirque but I thought the music was a bit weird. Maybe it just wast my taste IDK, but I was able to move past that and enjoy the amazing performances. I can only imagine the amount of training that goes into these performances. BRAVO! read more

Cirque du Soleil - Quidam - Performing Arts Near Me - Ontario, California

It's my 3rd cirque show and I wasn't impressed. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but it lacked the wow factor compared to the other 2. It didn't seem to have the same high production value and a lot less going on. I recall the others I've seen, there was so much going on that I didn't know what to focus on. Quidam however, there was a lot of walking around and doing nothing. And that dude that does the comedy act in between acts... way too much of that. There were so many amazing talents on the team, yet the entire presentation just ruined the show. The beginning of the show was so slow that it was difficult to be impressed by the skills. The slow music and dark scenes were putting me in a trance. It finally picked up a little during the second half of the show with the clown act and faster beat music, but still overall it just feels like a very boring presentation--totally did not do justice to the great talents on the team. read more

Saw Quidam at HP Pavilion last week. I saw Quidam 3 times when it originally toured in the bay area in the early 2000's. It is my favorite CDS show of all time and it came back just as my preschooler is old enough to enjoy this type of show. Needless to say, I was excited to share this with her. This is a much different experience in an arena as opposed to the iconic blue and yellow tents and I didn't care much for it. While there are stage shows in Las Vegas, those were designed for the larger venue whereas Quidam is meant for the big top. I think someone new to CDS will enjoy this show, but you must sit either on the floor or within the first 10 rows of the arena seating. After 10-15 rows, the angle of viewing changes the whole perspective. Since there are several acts which involve aerial components, if you are looking down at the action instead of up, you don't get the intended experience. My daughter loved the show and we ended up watching the DVD (filmed in 1999) 6 times over the weekend after seeing the show live. As far as the show itself, for the casual fan, the show quality will probably suffice. For the ardent fan, this show lacked some of the polish that I've seen in the past. Observations about this show: 1. Zoe doesn't sing through the words. Cuts off words like she wants to finish as soon as possible. 2. Music and sound effects are VERY loud compared to tent shows. 3. The Banquine acrobats used to do much more difficult acts like 3 men stacked and a 4th doing a flip up to stack on as a 4th (Amazing!). While they were still good, the difficulty level is a notch lower from the original touring show. 4. The diabolos act with 20-something women shaking their money-makers was a bit out of place. I wondered if these may have the same girls from 2000 all grown up. The show is returning to San Francisco in a week and my daughter really wants to go again. As long as I can get seats near the floor, it's still a decent show. This time I need to remember the ear plugs. read more

This was my 4th Cirque show (I've seen O, Ka, & Kooza) so far, and i probably won't be the last. It was a very enjoyable show and we had really good seats in the front (floor seats, 2nd row). It was the first time I've been to the Citizens Bank Arena, and it's a pretty nice venue. Free parking (the couple in the car in front of us gave us a VIP parking pass too, so we got to park super close - SCORE! :D), and pretty new, but it seemed like they might have readjusted seating because I saw some people being sent up to the ticket office because they had seats that no longer existed on the floor plan (can't say they were too excited about that). I'm sure they got equivalent or better seats though in replacement because it was nowhere near a full house, which was unfortunate. I felt bad for them because cirque shows are always great, and all of the other cirque shows I've been to always had sold out crowds. The staging looks so intricate that I feel like it's sad that they have to set all of this up, just to pack it up a week later to move to another venue (especially when it's only 1/2 to 3/4 of the seats were filled)... it kind of makes me sad... of course you cannot compare it to the elaborate custom-made permanent stages in Vegas, but it's pretty good considering it is a traveling show... Anyways, this will be a very memorable Cirque Show for us because both myself and my bf ended up on stage on separate occasions during the course of this show o.O hahaha... it was probably partly because we were sitting so close, but it ended up being a mix of embarrassment, excitement and fun. Good Times! I won't discuss what portions we ended up a part of just in case people have yet to see the show and want to experience all the acts for themselves. Just be warned that if you get floor seats (or close seats at any cirque show), you may get chosen, so I hope you're mentally prepared for that and have a good sense of humor. But the cast was hilarious and this is part of the reason why I love Cirque du Soleil so much... there's always so much audience involvement! :D Overall, it was a solid show, it probably didn't have the spectacle factor as much as some of their other shows, but it was still quite enjoyable. I liked the chinese yoyo's, spanish web, jump ropes and banquine the best. read more

Disappointing! I was so excited to see a touring cirque du soleil in the Bay Area. Sadly, this show fails to meet the standards of the cirque du soleil. I guess not all shows in this group are made the same. Save your money and don't bother watching it! The venue is way too big for this show. Only 40% was full when I went there on 4/7/11. Just a fyi, parking ranges from 15-20. read more
