Nearest to an area I frequent, it is one that offers higher cash back than most partner stations along my driving route to my residence. Upside requires you to claim the offer before paying with your linked card. While verification usually takes at least four days, it took less than 24 hours during this visit. The location of this Shell station is highly congested because it sits at the busy, light-controlled intersection of Harlem Avenue and Roosevelt Road. Leaving the station and heading east toward Berwyn on Roosevelt Road during the late afternoon is always frustrating. The oncoming traffic makes exiting painful, as drivers are in a rush and refuse to let you merge. This consistent hassle deters me from visiting and frequently drives me to the next station to use a rival cash-back offer on Upside instead. In my opinion, the gas station locations along Roosevelt Road are poorly planned; they should be situated farther away from major intersections with traffic lights, which make them a nightmare to exit. Like most stations along Roosevelt, it always seems far easier to get in than it is to get out. Most gas stations give off a gritty vibe that makes you want to pull out the heavy-duty sanitizer before you even touch the nozzle. This place was different--clean enough that I didn't immediately reach for the latex gloves. Even so, I used them anyway, because you never really know with places that have a constant stream of customers coming and going. We all know the clerk isn't stepping out to disinfect the handles between fill-ups. In this world, you must protect yourself from these germ-infested surfaces because nobody else will do it for you. (Unsure about how it would fare as a percentage of income or anything nerdy like that.) seeing gas as high as $5.99 is not an uncommon sight at the moment. I was in Oak Park over the weekend and it seemed like a good idea to check since the suburbs are usually cheaper, and this was no exception. $5.22 per gallon may be the cheapest I've seen it in weeks. There may be a reason for that. I don't know about the quality of the gas, and perhaps I should have stopped at the Shell across the street that was 5¢ per gallon cheaper. But it's powered my car. This station is small, six pumps. It wasn't terribly busy when I was here. There's a small convenience store, and they have a vacuum and air pump (positive about the first, pretty sure about the second).
